Was there twice this summer for the first time.. Once in Mid July for a week ended staying for two.. and was part of the time With My Dog alone while Husband Worked.. Felt very Safe.. The Park is very Clean, and Everyone There works hard and Is so Friendly.. and To the comment on the Mosquitoes.. Yes they where there but put some spray on have a fire and they did go some and that time of year you would of had them at home...That is Camping..and unless your in The woods and there is camping there and they get bad.. cant blame the park..can only do so much..The frieghters are really neat to see and cant control that either when they come.. Went back again in Sept and again Was a nice time and always seem to meet nice People that are camping there...The Trails are great for walks or Rides.. and may be a small Beach but they did work on it and if it isnt perfect it still refreshing... Life is Short.. and Drive up the Street...It is a Nice Get away.. Loved it..

This river front campground is subpar to the other state campgrounds we have visited. There were no trees and the site were very close together. When you pull in it looks like a tailgate party. It was way too hot to camp without trees for shade. When dusk fell, the mosquitoes were so bad both nights that we had to stay indoors rather than enjoying a campfire. There was no beach to really enjoy the river. If you drive up the road about 10 miles there is beach access in Marine City. The perk was that the freighters go by all day and night. Very cool. I would not go back to this campground.

Wonderful State Park located right on the St Clair River. Beautiful area, fishing, bird watching, swimming, boating or just relaxing watching it all happen around you. Great camping facilities and community events. Classic Car Show on Sunday 4th of July weekend, Truck and Tractor Show, Halloween Treat weekend, Pioneer weekend and lots more. You can purchase an annual sticker for your car when you renew your car plates which supports the DNR. Oh yeah, dont forget your fishing license which you can get across from the Algonac Library at Minnichs.

Whether you like being tucked into the woods or out in the open to watch freighters cruising by, this is the park for you. There are two campgrounds at Algonac State Park. The Wagon Wheel is mostly wooded and smaller than the riverfront campground. I love both of them. There are large sandboxes for small kids to play in, corn hole boxes, swing sets and horse shoe pits. There is also a gun range and an archery range. There are hiking trails as well but expect mud. Dont forget your mosquito repellent!

As far as State parks go I feel it is lacking. Maybe its just cause Its to close to home for me but I feel its a little boring and limited. Ive camped in the "wagon wheel" many times as a teen and was always a good time but that was about as good as it ever got for me here. The hiking trails leave very little to the imagination and the landscaping seems to go on and on with very little noticeable change in scenery. Again my opinion is biased and should probably be over looked this time.

Nice park on the river. Only draw back we had is no restroom/shower service during winter months. I love camping in the winter and they could not even keep the small rest room open. Very disappointing. And one more drawback is the shooting range in the park for clay pigeons was really annoying. Shot after shot and even though shooting hrs. were only till 4pm it continued till dark.

The staff are very nice and helpful. The neatest thing about this park was being so close to Canada. The r.v. Spots are extremely close together so you feel add if you are spending the night at a trailer park. The facilities are clean and decent. We would visit again if they could space the sites out a but more.

We were there this past weekend (late Sept 2011, The people were great. The washrooms are super clean. We definitely will be going back several times next year. It is just nice and relaxing to sit outside your camper and watch all of the river traffic (you need to be in the first 2 rows from the river tho).

A busy campground, but quiet. Shady grassy sites with electric hook-up, campfire ring and wood on site for purchase. Fun to watch the freighters moving along the river. Clean restrooms & showers. Close to town and local sites. Be sure to check out Harsens Island for an enjoyable day tour by car or bike!

This state park is beautiful & I love the campgrounds because there not close together so you can have your own space. The staff always makes sure that everythings always clean. I also love how in the summer they have game for family & games for just kids for when you want some fun!

A breath taking view of freighters going up and down the St. Clair River. While you camp or have a family gathering in the covered picnic area. You can spend time on the bike trail and pick wild blackberries. Tents and campers welcome. A must see for nature and water lovers.

Very nice park. Will be returning for another trip. Stayed in the wagon wheel camp grounds in a tent I booked what was supposed to be a shaded site and i cant say that it had very much shade at all other than that it was what i expected. Bathrooms exceeded my expectations.

One of the smaller state parks with a lot of noise by the road from traffic, noise in the wagon wheel from the trap range, no sense of authority from the park staff which are mostly youth, and no enformcent of the 10:00 quiet hour. I cannot recommend this park.

This is a pretty small State Park but has a Trap Range, an Archery Range, a prairie meadow to walk through with marked paths, a small swimming area on St Clair River, and a lot of trails to explore in the woods.

Beautiful park with lots of hiking trails. Very scenic views of the st.clair river. Freighters are a monument for this area and you are likely to see about a dozen in a day.

When they cleaned out the drain they left a mess around the paths bridge. You cant get from Marsh road to the campground unless you are willing to wade through a swamp.

Simply Beautiful! Michigan has a great Park if you love the water, you can sit here and just listen to the water be able to breathe and watch the boats.

What a lovely place to visit! Tons to do and see too. The only down side is the size of the campsites back at the wagon wheel. Extremely small.

Pretty good trails for walking the dogs or just to get out. There is a trap and archery range, hunting permitted in season, camp grounds etc.
