I attended the Ford Field Stadium on May 30th for Taylor Swift’s 1989 World Tour Concert. Getting into the stadium was no hassle, the door/ticket attendants and security were quick, efficient and didn’t give us any added grief. We had floor seats which equated to a quieter entrance as well. For an arena that seats over 50,000 it surprisingly wasn’t difficult to find our bearings and way to our section. Everything was well labeled and they had information desks well placed if anyone needed help. Not all concessions were open, but all the ones around the main seating areas were which served fine as there were still enough open that the wait times were reasonable. The food and drink selection was quite good, they had all the usual arena type food you’d want: pizza, fries, hotdogs, nachos, pretzels, popcorn, they had it all. The drink selection was solid as well and they even had craft/speciality beers which I was not expecting at all! Everything was well overpriced of course, but that’s expected... Unfortunately the cashiers I dealt with were very unfriendly; too bad they didn’t fall short on this expectation to save some face for America ;). The ticket/bracelet checkers and security in the seating area were however quite nice and redeemed the staff experience a bit. Washrooms were fairly well kept and being a guy at a Taylor Swift concert paid off as I basically had them all to myself with no wait time which is a rarity for any big venue event lol. As for the actual event I was extremely impressed, there was a good amount of merchandise/swag all around the arena. This included table booths for the bigger items and even carts and walking staff who sold smaller items, they even had “Square Readers” to process payments on mobile. Not too much décor in general, but they had some big screens in the main concert area that looped tour material like cool FYIs and trivia, decent enough to stay entertained for a little bit. The opening performer was Shawn Mendes, good performer with a couple well known hits like “Something Big” and “Life of the Party”, but my least favorite of the night for sure. The second act Vance Joy, best known for Riptide (also covered by Taylor Swift) was a bit better than Mendes IMO. Pretty solid vocals. I like that Taylor Swift could easily have bigger openers but instead chooses to give lesser known artists like this an avenue to get noticed. Then of course the main event of the evening: Taylor Swift! WOW what an unreal performer! Her stage presence is of the highest tier and she really puts her emotion into her performance, she knows what her strengths are and makes sure these are highlights in each act/song. She covered her entire 1989 album including bonus tracks which I thought was funny because not everyone knew them lol. There were also some good throw backs done in a fresh way like “Love Story” and “We Are Never Getting Back Together”. One of my favorites of the night was actually a melody/mash-up of her older song “Enchanted” with her new 1989 song “Wildest Dreams”. Another big highlight was a guest performance by Imagine Dragons performing Radioactive with Taylor. She also had a couple friends from her “Bad Blood” video as guests. Back up dancers were solid and on their game, the props, moving stage and choreography were fantastic as were the lights and video effects. I also loved her segues and transitions from song to song, some were simple video transitions as she did outfit changes, but the best ones were when she spoke to the audience and told a story that led to a song. There was a strong balance of everything and she played a variety of instruments including electric guitar, acoustic, piano and keyboard. Most of the time she had a back-up band, but she even ran solo for some of it. This show was awesome and had it all, best concert to date! The arena: 4/5, the concert 5/5!

First time at Ford field. Sat in section 327 row 17. up too high. Back of big screen in front of me blocked view of big screen at other end. Little monitors sucked because images were cut off at top and bottom with unneeded bands. Upper band had something to do with what they call the view. Not game cast but thats the idea. And lower band was the Ford logo. They should make it vertical on both sides if they really need to ruin the view. Escalator is a mile away from the entrance. Staff needs training. I asked for elevator and did not notice the escalator was nearby. Had to unnecessarily walk about a quarter of the stadium to get to the elevator and another quarter of the stadium to walk back to where i started by the escalator. Daughter walks with a brace and i had a swollen foot with gout or bunion or something. Didnt buy anything because arrived about game time and concessions closed at end of third quarter. Parking is expensive when nearby. If you can walk then you can park cheaper than the 20 to 40 bucks nearby. May have been 25 to 50 but i didnt pay so i dont recall. Maps showed parking 8 dollars but got lucky and found free street parking. Its weird to me that the Detroit teams are squeezed in where they are downtown. Venues are nice but location is not the best for traffic, parking, etc. I dont have a desire to return. Tigers played right before lions and was surprised to see all the fans with tigerwear. I just made that word up. I think. Anyway, were your tigerwear if you go to a tiger game or youll feel out of place. Lol

I am severely disappointed with the fact that Ford Field personnel forced my 8 year-old son to throw out his brand new Dallas Cowboys football this afternoon when going to see todays game. He was presented with it just this morning as an early Christmas present, super excited to be going to his first NFL game. He plays minor football and had the game of his life just before attending Ford Field with his father. The fact that it was not permitted in the stadium is one thing but to not offer an alternate option so that he could retrieve it after the game is ludicrous and heartless. I should also mention the fact that two spectators going in the gates before my husband and son, was another child who was permitted into the stadium with a baseball. And there were even spectators with full-size skeletons allowed entry! What gives? As my son shed tears, my husband offered to deflate the ball and put it in his pocket or rent a locker to keep the ball so that they did not go against the rules, yet no one would budge. How unbelievable! Just a heads-up to anyone going to a game, dont bring a ball. What could have been a most amazing experience, is now tarnished. As my son left, he looked in the garbages but surprise, no ball! Hmm, I wonder whos lucky day it was. Hopefully there is a child playing with a new football somewhere in Detroit. Your rule is ridiculous and your failure to solve a problem in a customer-friendly way unfathomable. What has our world come to? Carrie Thwaites

The worst parking venue I have ever been to! So bad I missed the first group after I left 2 hours early and stayed 14 miles from Ford Field! I think the stadium is way to big for a concert, the view sucks, the walk to get in and seated will kill you! Parking was $30.00,ticket $25.00 +11.50 fee per ticket and drinks were to high to buy!So many vendors pushing beer they block your view constantly and make every one around you drunk and have to pee.So if you dont have a seller blocking your view you have pee-ing people blocking you to go! Very disappointing evening with Bon Jovi! He, as always ,rocked and looked great but I missed J Geils because of parking, traffic and a entering process that took forever!I was celebrating my 23rd anniversary and 24 years since I first seen Bon Jovi,so it was supposed to be really special! This was the 4th time seeing them and the worst venue!Football playoffs wasnt as bad when I was there the last 2 years , but concerts suck and prices suck! I do not think I will return for a concert,to much hassle. Stressfull...
