Will never book my room here again: My office reserved a room (2 double beds) for a dental conference which was being held in Boston. As the first to arrive, I was informed that I was not able to get the room which my boss had reserved without the credit card in which the reservation was held. This requirement was also never told to my boss when the reservation was made. After explaining to the host that my boss was not available to bring the card (as he has 2 small children) but he could call and verify the card and all information over the phone, they told me this was not a possibility. After calling my boss and informing him of the situation, he contacted the hotel and had my name added to the reservation and I was told by the staff I would need to leave my credit card information, that of which would not be charged or have a hold put on it. After much hassle and 3 times standing in line to get the issue resolved finally I was given the key to our room. When I entered the room I was surprised to find only 1 king sized bed....not what we asked for. If this wasnt enough of a hassle the trip only got worse from there. When my colleague arrived to check in she was given the same treatment by the desk and was required again to leave a card on file.....hers which was also held only received a $50 hold charge...she also requested 2 cards for the room for herself and another colleague of ours. It was not until later that evening we became aware that the first 2 cards issued to myself were deactivated when they issued new cards to the second guest... To top off this entire stay... as I was not needed at the conference for its entirety, I checked out a day early and my colleague remained on 1/30/13. I was angry to see that there was a charge on my debit card for $568, that of which was actually more than the actual cost of the room. This pending transaction was assured to myself and colleague would be resolved on 2/1/13. Being a renter, the 1st of the month is when my rent is due and every bit of money in my account was to be used for rent and bills. When I went to pay my rent on 2/1/13 the charge had not been removed as the Seaport Hotel had stated it would be. It was not until I spoke with the kind manager Malita on 2/2/13 that the issue was resolved. I was also told had I not called, it would have been up to 5 days until it was handled.....good thing I called....However, being that the issue was resolved a day later than I was initially told, I was unable to pay my rent on time and fell subject to a $107 charge via my landlord. I contacted management at the Seaport on 2/4/14 and was told by the manager she did not feel "comfortable" reimbursing me even though I could provide documentation from my landlord of the late charge due to the Seaports mistake.... After all was said and done, I was given inaccurate information, the wrong room, deactivated cards, was over charged, told my issue was resolved when it wasnt and still had to pay an extra $107 out of my pocket because of the issue the hotel caused. I have been told that a manager would be in touch but that "most likely it will not be paid."....if this is how the Seaport treats their guests, we will be sure to contact the convention (Yankee Dental) housing board to ensure the Seaport Hotel is removed from their preferred housing list for their yearly convention....

Our first visit to Boston and our decision to stay at the Seaport Hotel was the best part of it. Our check in was quick with an efficient staff that was pleasant and knowledgeable. The room was clean and well appointed. The room safe is large enough to hold our laptops and features a light so you can easily see your items. The room thermostat was easy to control and kept a/c running at a comfortable temperature. The light switch when you walk into the room turns on all the lights which was very helpful. Instead of a DO NOT Disturb" sign for our door, the hallway is illuminated with a doorbell that when privacy is wanted, press that button and the doorbell light in the hallway turns red so your not disturbed. Push the privacy button again, it lights up white and your room will be cleaned . Its a brilliant idea and I loved not having to put the tacky do not disturb sign on the door knob. The bathroom has plenty of counter space, great water pressure in the shower and very clean. The room offers lots of plugs for us to charge our phones and laptops. Each nightstand has a plug so you can keep your phone charging near the bed and close at hand. I needed to print our boarding passes and I called down to the front desk and spoke to Ellis. He was kind enough to let me email him our boarding passes, he printed them out and then Robert brought them to our room. Our privacy light was on and Robert wouldnt knock on the door until Ellis called our room and asked us to open the door. Its against hotel policy to knock or disturb a guest when the privacy light is illuminated in the hallway. Very considerate and extremely professional! The only reason I gave this a 4 star review was due to food service. We ordered a burger and a bowl of clam chowder on Saturday night from room service. It took a while to get the food and when we it did arrive it was cold. We were going to send it back but we were hungry and didnt want to wait another hour or so for the next order so we just sucked it up and ate it cold. Other than that, the hotel staff has been fantastic and service excellent . I would definitely recommend the Seaport Hotel to anyone visiting Boston.

Let me start with, the hotel is beautiful and in a great area of Boston - very central and within walking distance of lots of things. The Aura is a pretty decent restaurant downstairs, and I enjoyed the Fitness center - nice weight selection and great pool. However, my family rented 6 rooms there specifically because they advertise being pet friendly. When we went to dinner tho, gone maybe two hours tops, upon our return we walked the two dogs who were staying in one of our 6 rooms and a manager came over and IMMEDIATELY got in our face, being very threatening and aggressive, saying he was going to call the cops and have ALL OF US thrown out of the hotel. He says the dogs were barking the whole time we were gone and that he had complaints. No-one had contacted us on any of our cell phones, nor made any effort to mediate the situation, just went to immediately threatening to having us escorted out by the police. Meanwhile this was between the hours of 7-9PM so it wasnt like anyone was trying to sleep. Additionally, the hotel was serving underage drinkers in their bar, and had SEVERAL groups of college students screaming, running, and being excessively drunk all night. At 5AM they were slamming doors and nobody did anything. Ridiculously hypocritical, astounding over-reactions and rudeness on part of management. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone unless you dont mind lots of noise and dont ever feel like talking to management... and CERTAINLY NOT if you have pets at all. - FOLLOWUP: The general manager responded very quickly with a followup, calling us back apologizing and saying he reprimanded the night manager. Apparently this isnt their standard operating procedure, according to him. He was very nice and responded very quickly though, so I have to give him credit for that.
