This place is GORGEOUS, the staff is very supportive & caring, the food is amazing and the price is SO reasonable. They put flowers everywhere to the point where we didnt feel the need to buy flowers for anything except the wedding party...and everyone just assumed the floral decorations were put there by us! This place is outstanding and the compliments that we received on our wedding venue were amazing. I DO have some suggestions for improvement on even this place, however: They didnt allow rehearsals the day before our wedding, even though they didnt have a party booked. They insisted that the rehearsal has to be done on the Wednesday before. Since all of our wedding party was coming from out of town, we couldnt have a rehearsal because of this. We did a mock-rehearsal at an external site, and that helped, BUT it didnt really do the trick. On the actual day, both maids and groomsmen werent sure how fast to walk, where exactly to stand, etc, because the place was a bit different than the rehearsal site and they were disoriented. Also, I would have had a chance to modify the procession on rehearsal day when I saw exactly how things were going to happen. Im really really surprised that such a great place would downplay the importance of rehearsal. I really could have used their expertise and guidance and I didnt have that and it shows in the pictures. Also, I noticed that they didnt polish the water spots off of their glassware and silverware, which was a little embarrassing to see. I hope others didnt notice, but, as busy as I was that day, I certainly noticed. Have your wedding here. But just be aware of what I mentioned. Good luck!

I WAS DJING HERE AND GUY NAME MATT THAT WORKS THERE WAS SO RUDE TO ME MADE ME FEEL SO UNCOMFORTABLE FIRST TO START IT OFF I CAME EARLY ABOUT 2 HOURS EARLY TO SETUP FOR UPLIGHTING AND DJ SERVICE AND HE HAD ME SIT OUT SIDE WITH MY EQUIPMENT AT THE DOOR FOR ABOUT 30 MIN TO 45 MIN (MATT SAID TO ME HE WILL LET ME KNOW WHEN I CAN COME IN ) I REALLY FEEL THAT WAS SO UNPROFESSIONAL. BUT I PULLED IT OFF AN STAYED PROFESSIONAL ALSO WHEN I WAS LINING THE GUEST UP HE STARTS YELLING SAYING YOU NEED TO LINE THEM UP FAST WHEN THE BRIDE MOM WAS TRYING TO PAY ME AT THE SAME TIME . REALLY DONT RECOMMEND ANYONE TO SEE THAT GUY MATT TO HOST YOUR WEDDING . ONE THING I CAN SAY IS THE LADY HOST THAT WAS ALSO HELPING OUT WITH THE FOOD AN THINGS SHE WAS WONDERFUL AN REALLY PROFESSIONAL WITH EVERY THING I WILL RECOMMEND HER TO ANYONE TO HOST THERE WEDDING (HER NAME IS MARTHA) REALLY KIND LADY.. Great Experience with some minor irritations. The setting is gorgeous no matter what time of year. They do an excellent job maintaining the grounds and facility. The reception area and bathrooms are nicely decorated with neutral warm, colors, and fresh flowers. The ceilings are a bit low but did not cause any problems even though my husband is 6’6. The only issue we had was with some of their strict policies specifically around open-bar minimums. They have VERY strong opinions and rules about ALL details so you should check with them on everything before hand. It would be nice if they offered to box up the dinners that are extra due to guests not showing up. The staff the day of were amazing; very supportive and helpful- Maddie especially. Everything went very smoothly and they listened to all our requests regarding the flow of events.

I just got married this past weekend (May 22, 2010) and my wedding was approximately 150 people. We must have received about 155 compliments on the selection of the wedding site. The grounds are absolutely spectacular. So much so that youll understand that they pay meticulous detail to keeping the grounds immaculate. The staff was very helpful and accommodating throughout the entire ceremony. We were never rushed and never felt that there was something being left undone. We chose it because of the ability to have all in one place a beautiful outdoor garden ceremony, patio cocktail hour, a delicious indoor dinner for 150 and an appropriate dance floor with a stage for the band. The flowers on the grounds were gorgeous so even the pictures the family took are stunning. Definitely highly recommended.

Lovely wedding but if you plan on any alcohol tell your guests that the independence harbor will force them to drive drunk in a blizzard instead of leaving a car in their huge parking lot. They made people who took the sobriety shuttle back to the hotel find ride back to the harbor to retrieve their car in order to avoid tow fees. Any place that charges what they charge should never ask this of guests. I highly suggest no one takes this location into consideration for any event if they care at all about their guest. An absolutely horrendous ending to what would have been perfect night. If you want the perfect wedding, independence harbor is not the place for you.

My wife and I recently had our wedding here in June after a year of planning and everything from the venue to the food, staff, and the planning process was exceptional. Our guests were thrilled with Independence Harbor’s venue and everyone complimented us on the mashed potato bar, the prime rib and chicken main courses, and the ice cream bar dessert. The staff was extremely friendly in planning and coordinating our busy day and our vendors had no issues in working with Independence Harbor. My wife and I highly recommend them both for quality and value and we hope our friends have weddings there so we can enjoy the location again.

My wife and I were married here in January. The grounds were winterized and werent much to look at, but we were lucky and it snowed during our wedding. The food was amazing. The macaroni and cheese martini bar was a HUGE hit with our guests. The food was delicious all around. The staff were very helpful and along some of the biggest people Ive ever met. If you want to get an idea of the caliber of food, they offer a brunch buffet once a month. It is pricey, but so worth it.

My son and his wife had their ceremony here last April. Our bus was late in picking everyone up at the hotel. I was a wreck, Independence Harbors staff put me at ease and carried on like everything was according to plan. The food was delicious, the venue was beautiful, The staff was great. I couldnt ask for a better experience. Thank you for making this day very special!

Lovely decor, landscaping, and ambiance are only a few of the great points to boast about. The service is fit for a Queen and the food is fit for a King. I have throughly enjoyed every visit to IH; and will be going again on Sunday to feast at the monthly brunch. Happy New Year.

We have been here for two wedding receptions and were very impressed with everything! The outside grounds and inside atmosphere were beautiful. The waitstaff were so polite and accommodating and of course the food was fabulous!

Beautiful place to have an outdoor wedding! however the food quality and portions could use some improvement. Also the drinks are weak and very expensive!
