Service was s...o....s....l...o...w....Are you serious?? Ordered the Oyster Po-boy with fries for myself and my wife ordered the "black and blue" burger with a salad plus a couple of Octoberfest beers. Sat there forever waiting and waiting for the beer - finally flagged down our waiter. The beers finally got to our table just before the food got there (not a good thing for a couple of beer lovers). The Po-boy was so-so (I know, if I wanted a real Po-boy go to Nawlins right, but that is a little far to drive for dinner). The fries were fantastic. My wife asked where is the blue cheese - she had just a "taste" on her burger. She liked the salad. Anyway, figuring we ought to order beer refills sooner than later we did so while we still had half full glasses. Guess what? Finished the meal, sat there and drank water waiting for our s...o...s...l...o...w....b....e.....e....r....s....Never got them! Flagged the waiter down - again - and told him never, never, NEVER leave beer drinkers sitting sulking with empty glasses. What good is having 40 or so beers on tap if they never get to your table. Gave the place a try, doubt if well go back. So much for finding someplace new ...

Took my wife and daughter out for Valentines day dinner. Wanted to try a new place so we made a reservation. My daughter and I ordered the Grilled Tavern Steak. I added the Black Chili Small Plate. My wife ordered the Duck Salad. PROs - The steaks were good cuts well prepared. The roasted romanesca was excellent. The charred radicchio salad was fresh with a tasty vinaigrette. CONs - The Black Chili was all pepper with little to no flavor. A true shame as the brisket in the chili was well done but I could not finish it. The parmesan mashed potatoes on both steak plates were lukewarm at best. But the real kicker...after eating about a third of her salad and rooting around for the duck prosciutto, my wife declared there was no duck on her duck salad! No problem, I summoned Andrew our waiter. Instead of correcting the oversight, he insisted that there were people in the back who monitor such things and that we just overlooked it. Huh? Really? I think my wife can distinguish between duck prosciutto and radicchio 10 out of 10 times blindfolded. My wife asked me not to press the issue on Valentines so I let it go...but we also will not be going back.

Weve been here a bunch of times. I have never really been impressed with the place. The beer list is ok. Its common for the area to have a long list of craft beers. The food is good but over priced. Their gimmick is farm to table. All ingredients are local sourced. Which is nice, but brings up the prices. Service has aways been an issue when we go. Our last trip was for brunch on New Years eve. We arrived at 1030. It was a large party, about 22 people. The restaurant only had one kid try to serve the entire group. He would come by, get a few drink orders and leave. He did this for about an hour before everyone got drinks. Now at 1130 he started tanking good orders. After he took our food orders He was rarely seen even though many of us had empty drinks. When he would come back hed get a drink for one person at a time. Or food didnt start coming out of the kitchen until 1230. Which is insane for breakfast foods like eggs and toast. My wifes cousins band is playing at the end of the month so we will go back but I think it will be our last time going to White Oak.

Sorry to say, but this restaurant had TERRIBLE food. Im from Ellicott City and VERY rarely write reviews online, but The White Oak Tavern restaurant needs A FOOD OVERHAUL and quickly or they are not going to survive in Ellicott City. I had the fried chicken (dont get it, I warned you)... It was horrible. My brother in law commented that his hamburger was not good. Then my Mom (who is NOT a critic) said HER food was not good. NO ROLLS.. We had to order them (I mean it, they only had ONE Biscuit with the order, bad joke people, sorry). Not even condiments (no salt, no pepper, no sugar, no sweetner, NOTHING) on the table for us or anyone in the restaurant. The staff was nice and polite. That was good. But who cares when a meal for 7 people came to $270 (inc. tip and huh NO Alcoholic drinks)... TOTALLY OVERPRICED! Its a shame too, the place is new. We would NEVER go back to this place again NOR would we recommend it. by the way, this is my first restaurant online review in my 52 years of living. That is how horrible the food was...

My first few experiences here werent so great....cold food, long wait, etc. But it was also when the restaurant had just opened. Now I always get the burger. Its a little pricy but its worth it. Always juicy with great flavor. The cheese and charcuterie board was fantastic, especially the picked pears! Beer selection is always on point. If they have jt on the menu, you must get the pork belly buttered noodles! However, the last time I went it was during busy dinner service. Had to wait about 40 minutes and there were empty, uncleared tables everywhere. When we finally got seated outside the service was horrible. The waitress said she didnt even notice us. They brought the apps out really quickly which was great, but we probably waited 20 more minutes for the burger. 3 stars for great burgers but horrible wait times and service.

$$ p/person. The Chicken Jambalaya, (which was a special) is definitely in the top five dishes Ive had in the Baltimore area. The seasoning and spice of this dish were spot on! We also started with the Brussel sprouts appetizer and they were amazing as well! The Grilled Cheese entree would have been a bit on the small for me, but my wife thought it was perfect, so what do I know? We sat at the bar and were pretty impressed with the staff, beer selections. We will definitely be back and I hope the Chicken Jambalaya makes it to their permanent menu because it is delicious! ($ = roughly $10)

My favorite restaurant in Ellicott City. Its not better than Tersiguels, but what is? The beer selection is large and always changing. The menu is updated seasonally and depends on local produce. Were sort of regulars there now, for various reasons, and Ive had just about everything on the menu. Some of it is absolutely wonderful. Some of it is merely good, but nothing is ever bad. (Except the Japanese Cheesecake...what were they thinking?) Anyway, its been open about 2 years now, crowds are growing, service is quite good, and I look forward to a new spring Menu soon.

They were nice and the beer was good. But the food prices were ridiculous. And the dishes were poorly designed and badly executed Red sangria was anemic and bitter. Home fries & eggs, overlooked, under seasoned. The bacon was simultaneously dry and stringy yet drenched in a flavorless syrup. Prosciutto and melon was regrettably soaked in green tabasco. Why? Thats all I tasted. The shrimp fried rice, soggy with oil was topped with their house ketchup, which seems to be actually an apple butter. It was also under seasoned. I really cant recommend eating here.
