Went with my sister to see mayday parade, knuckle puck, and the milestones (uk). The venue was nice and located in a good part of town. Lots of shops, places to eat, and parking a few steps away. They send people out to the lines waiting outside to explain the ground rules, tell you how full they will bee (nearly a sold out show) and how rowdy to expect the show to be, they told us how to get to the balconies if you want something a bit calmer and good views. They also sent someone out to check ID and give braclets to people 21+ intrested in drinking, i got a bracelet, but didnt intend to get a drink, so i cant tell you about prices, i did notice they advertised some food at the bar. Their was a random guy walking down the line selling CDs of his band and letting people listen to samples on his phone. I heard security shooed him away when he did it by the front door, but seemed to let him carry on as long as he was off the very front of the property. We arrived an hour before doors and the line wasnt too long, we were only about 5 rows back from stage once in (our place in line outside was actually nice as we could sit on the retaining wall instead of having to stand), and could of been closer if we had even an ounce of aggression in us and didnt have personal space bubbles.lol. our lack of aggression also caused is to be further back by the time the show ended, but we didnt mind (and frankly didnt even really notice at first) they have little water coolers and cups by the bars if you want some free water, durring break they also had the gaurds up front crowd surf cups of water back to people wanting water (just raise your hand, even my shy sister got some water). They are vety efficent and even with security checks the line moved super fast to get in. Durring the concert they have pretty much organized the crowd surfers, incouraging surfers to go down the center to the front of stage and had many gaurds grab the person and help them down safely and lead them back into the crowd. Free parking garages on weekends.

I have been to the Filmore a couple of times and I had not been disappointed until I decided to use their "VIP" services during the Cafe Tacuba concert this week. The concert was great but unfortunately the service provided by the waitress assigned to serve my table was extremely poor. Once being seated we ordered a drink and it was brought to us in a fair amount of time (beer quality isnt the best), after a while the waitress asked if I wanted to open up a tab or if I wanted to pay in cash, as soon as I said cash she handed me the check, which I thought was odd since I had ordered only one drink. I didnt think much of it and paid for the drinks, after the waitress took the cash she did not come back to my table even though the light on the table was red for at least 30 minutes. I was finally able to catch her attention to request a food menu, which at any food establishment that is the first thing thats brought to the table... After having to ask for the food menu, the waitress once again left and did not come back for another 30 minutes and the light had been turned to red literally 5 minutes after she handed me the food menu. Once she decided to come to my table she asked if we needed anything else (really?), I said no (clearly upset) because at that point my appetite was gone, she then asked for my last name and started to look for my credit but my credit card was never even handed to her, she walked away without saying a thing and did not come back for the rest of the night. The whole experience made me and my friends very irritated and unfortunately it put a damp on the whole "VIP" experience and the concert for that matter. I had high expectations of the service I thought I was going to be provided with, since I paid to be seated but the service was far from good. I hope you all take this review seriously, its not worth sitting on the VIP section.

The Fillmore is a pretty awesome music venue. Like the 9:30 Club, it is small and intimate so you get a good view wherever you are standing, unless you are standing behind Andre the Giant. The Fillmore has a classy vibe, with their huge red curtains and chandeliers hanging! I have been here plenty of times and have always had a great experience. The sound quality has been great no matter which band was playing. Ive never had trouble getting a spot by the front of the stage. Sometimes nice concertgoers would even push me towards the front so I can see better. I was once so close that I could have touched a very sweaty Gavin Rossdale from Bush! There are three levels. Top level provides a balcony view. The lowest level is where the bathrooms are. There is a bar on every level. They sell food, which comes in a cute Chinese take-out container. Ive only had the loaded fries, which were not bad. Typical price for this kind of place. If you have the extra dough, you can pay for VIP seating up top on the balcony. The line to get in usually goes by pretty fast. Just have your ticket out and also your ID, if you are planning to drink. No outside food. It is located right in downtown Silver Spring so there are plentiful parking in garages and is also metro accessible. There are a lot of restaurants in the area too if you want to grab a bite before your show. Cops are always patrolling the area so safety should not be a concern.

Good venue. The sound and lights are very good. The staff was friendly. I didnt see any problems with rude staff or overcrowded bathrooms, etc mentioned in other reviews. I marked the rating down for two reasons. First, the show time was shown as 7 pm on the web site. Show started at 8:30. They sort of have to make you get there early because it takes a long time to get through a relatively short line. The second line for getting your over 21 ID check seems like a waste of time compared to the way other placed take care of that. Second, the beer and drinks are sub-par and very expensive. They had 3 beers on tap - Bud, Shock-Top, and Sam Adams Lager. $10 is outrageous for these. They had a few bottles of microbrews, but nothing special. You could get any of them at any liquor store in the area. I tried a maragarita as well. It had plenty of booze in it, but it didnt taste that good. I think it was also $10. It wouldnt be bad to get there early and have a couple drinks if they were good and reasonably priced. But, these two things taken together make for a significant markdown. Next time I will tailgate and come later. I did note that the web site for at least one show in the future notes that doors open at 7 and the show starts at 8:30. Now if they can just get some decent beer.
