This is one of my least favorite venues in the Kansas City area, and Im convinced its due to its location across the Missouri state line. With that aside, this isnt a terrible venue, its just not a great one in my opinion. Ease of access through the back door of the club makes me uneasy for the safety of band, crew and fans alike. The staff is pretty laid back and doesnt seem to be to worried about anything other than staying on schedule and how much in ticket sales they have currently earned. Ive been to some shows here where I had a great time, and shows that I wish I wouldve stayed home. I really think it all comes down to being in a boring and quiet part of Kansas. This is an all ages venue as well, so its not uncommon to see younger kids/teens pacing the floor until their band takes the stage. The sound is average and it can be very intimate for both the band and fans, since there is virtually nothing between the two of them. A second stage in the back corner of club is utilized periodically for bigger bills that have more bands than a normal night. There are pool tables for entertainment and also quite a chef in the kitchen, who never fails to disappoint me with food made to order and made with pride. Arrive early so that you can get a decent parking spot, as the parking lot fills up rather quickly for the bigger shows, forcing the additional parking up the street to be used instead. There is also a QuikTrip on the way back to the freeway in case you get those last call munchies before heading home. Id recommend to friends and family provided the bill was worth the drive and money.

I cant speak to the food of this place, as Im always at Aftershock for a good live show and drinks. The drinks are pretty on par for size & price compared to other bars Ive been to in the area. The live rock shows Ive been to at Aftershock have always been awesome. Friday or Saturday nights when they have local rock/metal bands are a good time. The bars had some renovations opening up the 2 sides of the building, which I think was a much needed overhaul. Overall, I like Aftershock.

Super obnoxiously-loud venue, low ceilings. I was both confused and a little relieved by the separate bar area off to the side, since it was a nice way to escape from the blistering volume. I always wear earplugs to music events but this was uncomfortable even with those. Beer was kind of expensive, some staff was really nice and some staff was bordering on hateful. I liked the cow-print wristbands. The bathroom smelled nice.

AVOID In an industrialized, run down area, this place sometimes has good bands. However, it is filthy. Do not eat the food there. The lettuce was brown, the meat tasted sour. Bring your flare gun. Youll need it to attract the attention of the help. Or you could go look on the smoking porch where they may be enjoying a cig and a drink themselves. AVOID

This Concert venue hosts a variety of National and also Local KC artists of all genres. The staff is always courteous and friendly, while remaining professional and keep things in order. There are plenty of drink options, and always a special lower prices option. Support your local businesses! Support local Music!

This place is to small, stood in line to find out show sold out... far to popular band for such a small venue. They opened doors two hours later than scheduled, limited parking. Have business number but wont answer it??? Outdated tired facility first and last visit

An intimate venue to see live music performances. Ive seen probably a dozen shows here. Looks nicer since theyve rearranged. I wouldve given 5 stars, but bathroom doors need locks and they need to work on scheduling bands and door opening times more realistically.

Shockingly decent. Although their reputation isnt the best, Aftershock has made some recent improvements to the layout and sound system that makes for a very nice experience. Food is decent, drinks are mostly ok. Pretty good place for a rock show!

Came here to see Texas Hippie Coalition a super hard rock band out of Denison Tx.. They are great ...One of the best down and dirty hard rock bands out there ...totally intense. This place gets a big variety of heavy metal acts too.
