The new RV camping sites along the north west lake shore are beautiful however, the ravenous behavior by those seeking that perfect spot is disturbing. This campground allows placement of small tents on the RV spots to hold them. This negates the walk up /first come/first serve rule. This bending of the rules should be addressed. Folks are knocking on camper doors asking when and what time the camper is vacating a spot "cause they want it" this is very rude and not relaxing at all. The rules clearly state a 3 pm check out. The constant traffic by those waiting to jump on an empty site and place a tent keeps the dusty gravel road continually stirred up along with random cars sitting near spots with the occupant ready to jump out and drop a tent, very bizarre. Dogs running loose and pooping everywhere is not only disgusting, its obviously breaking the rules. Rules state to keep the dog on a leash and pick up their poop. Loose dogs attacking other dogs that ARE on a leash is a real problem. This campground has little to no supervision. I found this campground to be noisy 24/7. Dusty /dirty air from the constant traffic driving thru the campgrounds gravel roads at all hours of the day and night. I found the dog issues very frustrating and the over all poor supervision to be unacceptable for me. I will not return. I camped here in a travel trailer for 1 week. Never again.

Went to Jester park in the early season with friends, which it is very nice looking and wanted to be on the lake but the road was closed to be almost on the lake. So we called twice just to double check we could camp by the lake which they said "if we could walk there we could camp there and there was a post where you could put your tag" so we set up camp and were having a good time until 11:30 comes around and we are required to move all of our stuff to a designated camping area behind the road block. The DNR was what everyone in the group would consider disrespectful to us. Makes for the second bad experience there! Will not be back!

We rented shelter #2 for our wedding reception, and the area was lovely. I was a little irritated because the website we used to reserve it had said there would be power, fire pit, shelter, horseshoe area, and a sand volleyball court; however once we got there there was not any power, the horse shoe pit had been dug up/removed, and the fire pit were several park grills. The area was quite lovely, and their were bathrooms right near by which made it convenient for party goers. I just wish their reservation website had more accurate information.

I will say its very well maintained. There arent a lot of bugs and poison ivy so its pretty safe. If you want some trees and to be able to be comfortable this place is very well groomed. If you are looking for nature this is not the place. You will find no wildlife or anything else. The trails are very gentle and i enjoy getting in a quick 5k run in when its too hot to run difficult trails. Prime glamping/country club spot .

Beautiful cabins at a price you cant beat. Have stayed with my family in a cabin that sleeps 8 and with some friends in a cabin that slept 6. I like how each cabin has its own canoe. I also enjoyed the walking trail and nature preserve. I would recommend each cabin having its own fire pit in the backyard in addition to the centrally located community fire pit.

County Park. RV, camping, electrical. Beautiful cabins available for rent 365 days a year. Boat ramp, playground and a natural play scape for all ages. Enjoy the Bison. Great park for picnics, miles of surfaced and non surfaced trails. Jester Lodge for special events.

Lovely park, well kept hiking trails, firewood available for sale, clean bath house, and nice spacious spots if away from the water. County conservation rolls through to make sure all is well. Only 4 stars as I would like water hookup at site.

Jester Park is one of the most beautiful conservation areas you can visit in Iowa. The river is so low that you can see the raised areas that are normally covered and have had the opportunity to grow grass and attract wildlife. Its stunning.

It was beautiful. But the Wildlife Reserve was a disappointment, as there werent very many Bison or Elk. But there was a baby Bison, and that was exciting to see.
