I went out to Overlook Park to take some photos at sunset, but it was difficult to find a spot that wasnt blocked by trees. Your best bet is to walk over to the dam and take photos. That wont work at dusk since the sun will be right in your face, but it should work okay at dawn. It was really frustrating when the police came through to close up the park *just* as the light was getting good. Sunset was still about 15-20 minutes out at that time, so I understand the need to close up the park.

Great walking trail for TWO great vistas: one over the lake and the other over beautiful, green Hill Country...that is. was easy to enjoy with my elderly parents and my teen daughter who is blind, was perfect. I recommend also doing the lovely South Guadalupe River trail whose trailhead is on the east (green) side, downhill from dam, right there off South Access Road. Wooden bridges, down to the river, great sounds of nature, water, crazy musical insects...perfect.

Easy access to the lake. Restroom, trails and vistor center. Rangers are very knowledgeable about lake, local history, and many other topics. Great views from the dam of the lake. The park is open 365 days of the year. The park office is open only Monday through Friday for visitors. They have maps and free items for kids and parents to teach water safety.

A nice little park with access to the beach and the dam. Im not much of a crowd person and this place was packed (probably due to Independence Day holiday weekend). We made a side-trip here specifically to see a VERY-out-of -place Brown Booby that we heard was hanging around. He was. Once I got pics, we left.

Sch great views. The name says it all this is one of the best spots to overlook Canyon Lake and all it has too offer. You can even find family of deer and other wildlife. Best part there is a swimming area open to the public and free. Any trip to Canyon Lake should include a stop here.

Absolutely beautiful views from the dam overlooking Canyon lake. The walkway is probably a mile long. Not sure if there is park or play area for kids there but well worth the visit if you are visiting the Canyon Lake area on Hill Country, TX.

If youre going to go anywhere on Canyon Lake, this should be your stop. Gorgeous view of the lake and its fun to walk around and admire the size of the dam. Not an overly amazing destination but worth a detour if youre close by.

Absolutely beautiful scenery. Any critism at all is there was quite a bit of trash along the shoreline that needed to be picked up. All in all I would recommend visiting this place if you are ever in the area.

Great place to spend the afternoon.. the water is amazing clear and cold!! There are no shaded areas around the water so I would suggest taking a beach umbrella! The views at canyon lake are unbelievable.

Enjoy the beauty of the Texas Hill country and Canyon Lake. Theres no admission fee and a nice, rocky swim beach. Its a lot cleaner since they installed trash cans, so please pick up after yourselves.

A very good place to overlook a beautiful lake especially in the morning and afternoon during sunset. During the day is pretty hot but I mean, deal with it. Nature is sure beautiful in this area.

Absolutely beautiful! It has trails, a small beach and a road that is elevated for a scenic view. You can canoe here and fish here too. Bring your binoculars!

Great place to hike up and down the hill area. Lots of ares to fish or swim. Walking area across dam is 0.8 miles so great place to run or walk.
