My daughter and I enjoyed our visit to Herbert Hoover National Historic Site, where we learned about a man who doesnt get enough credit--and gets perhaps too much of the blame for the Great Depression. We took a self-guided tour through the grounds, where we saw his early home, his church, and his school. My daughter liked earning her Junior Ranger badge. The rangers and volunteers were very helpful in answering our questions.

I have to admit, I stopped here to get the park passport stamp and stayed because of the compelling story. Its fascinating to hear how Hoovers brilliant ideas as Sect. of Commerce just didnt translate well to the situation of the Great Depression. On the other hand, the same ideas with the added charisma of FDR became the New Deal. This charming location is well worth the stop if you are heading through.

Make time for the library exhibits. The cottage was so impressive; the ironworks were interesting and it was nice to learn a bit there, too, but if Id had more time I wouldve stayed another day and really gone into the library more, and I also wouldve seen more of the town. The first stop at the Natl Park site captured interest as it really put me back in the time...

Very interesting with beautiful displays and clearly understood story of President Hoovers life, including his presidency. The grounds are impeccable and at the beautifully groomed area around his grave you are able to look across the vast lawn and in the distance see the tiny home where he was born. Very beautiful, interesting, and sobering.

Beautiful park! Its really interesting to visit the town and home where Herbert Hoover was born. I was surprised by his small beginnings, but also loved his little house and garden. My husband and I also spent the day just hanging out in the surrounding town, which had a farmers market. Great tourist destination.

Wonderful museum. Lovely grounds. Check out their rotating exhibits. Also, its fun to pack a picnic and eat outside there. During the warmer months, they have rangers give tours outdoors as well as a blacksmith working in the shop. Hoover days are usually in August and have a wide assortment of events to check out.

Love this Presidential Library. If you have a chance, see it in conjunction with the West Branch Christmas celebration. Christmas tree display in the main library and free demonstrations at the blacksmith shop, carriage rides and free admition to the historical buildings. Quaint and high quality family time!.

Was very nice and quiet, beautiful buildings, Schoolhouse, Church, Him and his wifes Gravesite, Birthplace, Visitor Center, and my favorite was the Blacksmith shop and all the tools. They also have the Herbert Hoover Presidential Library and Museum. The statue of Isis and lots more, good for all ages.

I loved visiting the Hoover Museum! It was fantastic. And the price of admission was actually fair. The gift shop was a little pricey but that didnt stop me. The man at the ticket counter was very friendly, and we had an enjoyable time. They also had an exhibit of Route 66 that was interesting.

Lovely grounds for a relaxing stroll and the museum gives an insightful look at a president who is at best misunderstood, but usually unknown to most Americans. Better in many ways than the Reagan theme park / library, which I also happened to visit on this trip.

We visited during the Hoover Days celebation, so there was alot going on around the historic buildings on site and the museum was free that day. It was well done, educational and interesting; it would have been worth the regular admission price.

Its not often when traveling cross county you have quick access to a National Historic Site. Stop in, walk around, get a bite to eat downtown. Amazing to find out Hoover left town with 2 dimes sewn into his clothes.

The amount of text for each display wasnt overwhelming, so its easy to read it all. Be sure to take the prairie walk if you have time - the prairie is lovely and relaxing, even with the highway only a few feet away.

I believe this museum depicts the broad spectrum on Hoovers life. It gave us view points that we had not known or considered. We really enjoyed seeing his childhood home and his fathers blacksmiths shop.
