The Wild Rose is a great little casino that sprung in the middle of nowhere. My husband and I had taken a yearly trip to Las Vegas since 1986 until 2006 when the Wild Rose opened. With a casino 30 miles from home, we are able to get our gaming and entertainment on a regular basis without driving for hours! The casino itself is nothing to write home about. It’s smoky and showing its age already. If you look up you see dust lining the ceiling tiles around the air vents. The carpet is awful, dirty and grime showing through. Some things most might not notice but when you take a trip there weekly for 6 years these things become evident. The slot department does a great job keeping things fresh as Wild Rose always seems to have new games before any of the other casinos in the area. The table games dealers are normally all very friendly and make blackjack fun. The one downfall would be the security department. I have never had problems with them but the guys that are supervisors seem to all walk around like they own the place. It’s just silly and we’ve never encountered the mindset they have at any other casino we’ve ever been to. We figure they’re bored, so they look way too hard for things to do. It makes us nervous. Besides that, I highly recommend the Wild Rose. It’s a fun place in the dead of Iowa. Edit: I forgot to mention the food. The pub called Dunigans has always had great burgers and food. 2.5/3 for Dunigans. The buffet has gone through many changes and is currently as terrible as it has ever been. We quit eating there when it turned into a pasta house. It was disgusting. 0/3 for the buffet. The Wild Perk is a cafe type place in the main entryway and they do a good job of serving snacks and small meals after hours. The hours are too short, we feel if the casino is open, the cafe should be open. Many times weve left to get a snack at Kum and Go in town because the casino is offering nothing but bags of chips and candy bars. Sometimes there is a decent sandwich in the machine in the hotel. 1.5 for the cafe mainly because its barely open when we want something.

I work for the prison for the state of North Dakota and I have never been disrespected EVER like I have been from Lucas Flannegan. I am here for a wedding. I was playing slots, exited the casino with zero problems to get more money from the ATM machine and was not allowed back into the casino. They said I was too inebriated to enter, but wouldnt have me perform a sobriety test when I offered. The only thing they told me was that I was not welcome at the casino anymore. I could understand if I said rude comments on my way out to the ATM machine, but I did nothing of the sort and showed no signs of inebriation upon reentry to the casino. I came to Iowa to celebrate two of my best friends wedding, and you took it upon your own to hinder that. I will NEVER get that opportunity back thanks to Lucas. I never once showed sign of excessive inebriation, he chose to deny my access to the casino to be with my close friends.

My wife and i stopped by there just traveling through. We spent $200 on pennie slots betting .75 a pull. She hit one bonus and "won" $10 i did not even have one hit for more than a dollar. We were there for only 20min and went thru $200 pretty lame!! I wouldnt recommend even stopping by. Just better off throwing your money on the ground for some one else to find. VERY DISAPPOINTING! I dont ever expect to actually win but dam should be able to play for a little while on $200.

Great lodging, but I was frustrated at limited dining options while staying there on a Sunday or Monday. Hoped with the RAGBRAI coming through town, both the buffet and sit-down restaurant would be open to accommodate the completely booked hotel (or so I was told when I booked the "last non-smoking room"), but I was disappointed. It would not be so frustrating if not for the fact that restaurants in Emmetsburg close on Monday with maybe 2 exceptions.

Breakfast is only served from 7 to 9 on weekends. After that you can only get breakfast from a mediocre, overpriced cafe. Food in the restaurants is mediocre at best. We were there for the BBQ competition, and one of the casino staff overseeing this event was EXTREMELY rude! Glad this is the last year of that event so we never have to come back again!

ate buffet, fought off vomiting the rest of the night. playing slots, bonusea far and few and dont pay. any offers for "free" food have too many rules rather not use the offer. and the take your card out of the slot to be entered into drawings are bogus. sat next to a guy who never took his card out and he was the 1st one drawn? make a person think its rigged

The free pop and coffee is nice. Tables are about the same as anywhere else, but the slots are tighter than Ft Knox. No waiters offering drinks like other places. You have to walk to the bar. The people that do walk around dont really smile and arent real friendly. They dont offer anything, they just make sure people arent stealing or cheating our anything.

First there 1/29/2017, had a great time! Dont bad pay out! Cute little casino! Very impressed with many different slots to choose from. Non smoking area room was way to small! Didnt care for ATM outside of casino and cashier cage ladies...unfriendly! Other stuff were friendly. Didnt try the buffet but will next time.

Smell of smoke hits you as soon as you open the door. Smells of heavy smoke, clothes smell after being there.Poor pay out, not able to play very long. Expensive drinks, poor service on the floor, have to go to bar or coffee area to get a drink. Need snacks to enjoy while playing & new ventilation system.

We camped at the RV park. It was very reasonably priced, next to a calm little pond and close to different activities. Public beach right down the road. The Grotto is amazing in West Bend. The Emmetsburg movie theatre was very cool and retro. We would go back again!

Did ok gambling. But nobody came a round for drinks, in the almost 8 hours I was there. Had my service light on for over 20 minutes, then I just gave up. Im from Cherokee and its shorter to go to the Hard Rock. Why should I come back.

Hotel room was good..The meals at the Irish pub was not.. Had a $25 ribeye and it was a bad cut for a steak that coat that much. Waitress was very nice. Slots were same pay out as other casinos..Not sure if I would come back..

Room was small. No comfortable chair to sit and relax in the room. Went to Seafood Buffet they did not even have shrimp but they had chicken???? Overall the food was not very good. Would not recommend staying.

Went to the buffet on chicken and potatoes night the buffet was as expected good for $4.30 but no one ever came to take my drink order mentioned this to the hostess on the way and she completely ignored me.
