My last review was deleted. It has been almost a month now and Ive lost my patience with French Lick Resort. Im not one to complain in public, but here it goes. Be careful if you plan to visit this resort. You may have seen the fun pictures of Lindseys Bachelorette weekend we held there at the end of September. Sixteen of us went in together to rent a suite and 4 rooms. Im too embarrassed to mention the cost, but after all it was a once in a lifetime celebration so we wanted it to be memorable. We couldve spent a week in a Florida condo for that amount, but time didnt allow. Actually, the trip was pretty awesome up until the last morning when I woke up and found a BEDBUG in my sheets! I captured the critter and called the front desk who immediately sent housekeeping to the room. No apology. They simply kept saying that it was an isolated incident, there would be an investigation right away, and I would be notified of the findings. We had no idea where exactly the bug might have come from since we had been traveling back and forth between rooms and the suite all weekend. They took the bug, but not before I snapped a picture. A little upset with the reaction of housekeeping...like this was no big deal, I asked to speak to a manager upon checkout. Same reaction. They didnt want ro discuss the incident and told me I would hear from the investigation within a few days. Still no apology for the terrible ending to our trip...not to mentioned the inconvenience of each of us having to spend hours after we got home sorting through and sanitizing every item we had packed with us! Within a day or so I receive an email from a director at frenchlick asking how our trip went. I wrote a detailed letter letting him know what happened. No response. The only person to reply was my sales rep who I had forwarded a copy to. She was the only person to apologize and told me the "investigation" of the rooms would happen with in day or two and I would hear back. I have completed an additional 2 random surveys from the resort over the last few weeks, but still no reply about the incident or the "investigation". Obviously the resort is ignoring our experience and are hoping we will just let it drop. They certainly didnt hesitate to bill my account and send an invoice. Maybe bedbugs arent a big deal for them...but they are to us who have never experienced them. It certainly put a damper on what was supposed to be a perfect weekend. So what now? Do you think Ill get a truthful report of the so called investigation or will I never hear from them again? I know one thing for sure...I will be very hesitant to recommend this resort or to ever stay there again!

We loved this hotel, but had a not-so-great experience. My family stayed here Jan. 1 - 3. It was partially a Christmas gift, which included a gift card for the resort. Be very informed when purchasing gift cards. (Which is difficult, because even the hotel staff doesnt seem sure about how these work or what theyre good for, as we were told different things on a couple different occasions.) The card distributor didnt seem to want to be up front about the fact that the cards are only good for about half the shops. Im not saying that they cant be used for anything - they can be used in the restaurants (at least the one we went to) and at the breakfast buffet, plus the mini starbucks in the lobby, and even toward the rooms and anything charged to the room. In our case, since the rooms were already paid for, and the gift cards were specifically to buy ourselves a little something, we intended to use them in the shops, and that didnt happen. In the end, after being told a few different things, we ended up having to have the rooms refunded so that we could use the gift cards towards the room, and then have the remaining room balance recharged to the gifters credit card. It was that or just lose the money on the cards. Another not so great thing is that people are allowed to bring their pets. Which is cool for dog owners who dont want to pay to board their dogs, but all night long, I guess while the owners are down in the casino, they left their dogs to bark in the rooms. So its not that great for light sleepers or toddlers. Were not light sleepers, but we do have a 2 yr old who loves dogs. We take him everywhere and dont normally have problems, but he woke up several times the night the dogs were the worst (Friday). Further, I know that its hard for hotel staff to wrangle other peoples children, but it must be done if the parents are MIA. There were kids running up and down the halls all night, Friday night. So on top of the dogs and the pounding, we didnt get any sleep Friday night, because our toddler was up all that night. As far as the shops, my strong suggestion to the ones that refuse to cooperate with the resort program is to get with the program or get OUT. If they dont want to cooperate with the rest of resort, they should find another location. And the hotel should only allow businesses that are willing to cooperate, as well. Its such an amazing historic place, with awesome architecture and a nostalgic feel, and I think well go back despite this experience, but all in all, the sleep deprivation and the refusal to allow me to buy something nice for myself pretty much killed this one.

The Casino is a fine establishment but poorly run. If your a Poker player skip this one, they could be a lot better, they have the pieces to be good but they really dont care. We arrived a two tables were going and ten people on the list my party made it thirteen so I asked if another table might be opened and was told at Ten a thrid would be. An hour and a half later the first person on the list got a seat and the list was now 22 waiting, at 9:45 I asked which table would be opening and the new pit boss said he didnt know if a thrid table would be opened, I asked when would he know he said maybe 10:15 we waited another 30 min and was told they didnt know if they had enough dealers. At this piont I understood the level of incomptence we were dealing with If they can not count the number of dealers on hand 2 or 3- or 4, 4 being the most needed to run 3 tables, then Im not sure they could be helped. I know if I owned a casino and I had 22 people wanting to gamble (and probably more who didnt bother to sign in ) I believe I would have found a dealer somewhere and in less than three hours. We walked around and every chair at every gaming table was full and pretty much stayed full until we got tired of waiting and being told one lame thing after another. The thing that got me the most upset was the first boss telling me matter of factly that another table would be opened and appearently noone else in this casino knew anything about that. We went back sunday evening and no game ever got started there were four on the list but they either dont have or choose not to use a loud speaker to anounce games or possible games, I saw several people come into the room look for a seat and leave as there was no true poker director it was the pit boss behind the gaming tables nearby who was in charge. Ill stick to Harrahs from now on.
