Inexpensive day out!! This zoo isnt too big to be seen in a few hours, which I find excellent considering I have the attention span of a small child. The animals on display are interesting and fun. The children play areas are awesome, including a pop up dome in the Prarie Dog exhibit (which I highly recomment for children and non-children alike). There is an area where you can purchase food and feed goats and other like animals. And, penguins... I love penguins, and they have penguins here. Entry fee is $7 for adults, which is super cheap for a zoo!! And, the zoo is adjacent to a nice park which makes great for lunch after your zoo trip.

Dilapidated, and horrendous conditions for the animal ambassadors. Very little has been done to make improvements in ALL aspects of this Zoo. Disturbing is a enclosure with a primate that permits the animal to travel overhead by use of a wire(?) walkway that is PERMITS ( true not allowed.. But) visitors of a certain reach up and INTO this walkway. I have witnessed some use Branches to "play" with this animal ambassador. This zoo is kept clean of feces removal as well. Little if any interaction with keepers and the animals and very little is provided for the visit as far as educational instruction.

Great animal interactions; feed a bear, encounter a giraffe, let a long stick bug crawl on you, pet a hedgehog, and walk around inside the Wallaby exhibit. You can do all of that and more at the Boise Zoo! They also have special events like an overnight Zoo stay, yoga with the animals, and race days for kids. The zoo volunteers are friendly and informative. I love their ZooTeen program, which teaches teens about conservation through volunteering and animal interaction. What an awesome thing for todays generation! I wish my local Zoo had that when I was growing up.

I really enjoyed my first visit to the Boise Zoo! There was a wide variety of animals to check out and the zoo wasnt too crowded. I think one of my favorite things about the zoo is that it is AZA accredited, which basically means the zoo has gone to great lengths to ensure high standards for animal care/habitat, etc. are met. While Im not a PETA crunchy granola hippie person, knowing the zoo really takes care of the animals rather than serving mainly to generate profit really is worth its weight in gold to me. Next time Im in Boise, Id certainly return!

Best prices in Boise for a fun family day! Lots of animals in a beautiful natural setting. BIG request from the kids - elephants, the zoo needs elephants. The prices for activities and food is spot-on. Carousel rides and face painting $1 ONE DOLLAR. Food under $5, feed the Giraffes and Sloth Bear $3 - this allows us to afford to go every weekend! I can highly recommend the season pass, it pays for itself in just a few visits. This zoo makes it a fun day for both the kids and the parents wallet - we will go any and every time the kids say ZOO!

I have a membership pass and have used it nearly weekly since my first child was born (as long as the snow doesnt get too deep). Its stroller friendly as well as easy to navigate with little ones. If you are a breastfeeding mom there are lots of benches in the African animal area you can stop and nurse too (in winter the lion exhibit is a good indoor spot to warm up). Our favorite animals- according to a toddler-are the mangaby monkeys, the penguins, and the goats at the petting zoo.

A nice zoo with good amount of exhibits and animals available. Probably take a good 2 hours to see everything and that was in November, so maybe 3 in the warmer time? There was enough mix of indoor/outdoor stuff that we got chances to warm up here and there but we didnt go on a cold cold day. Animals seem content in their habitats, admission prices are reasonable too. Definitely would recommend checking this zoo out!

What a sad zoo! I left feeling depressed and empty, like Id just left the pound. The animals looked sad and incredibly bored. All the cats and monkeys just paced repeatedly back and forth. The enclosures and cages are small and pathetic. Im all for conservation and education, but this is cruel. If you dont have proper, ample space for your animals to enrich their lives, why have a zoo. I will never come back.

Why write a bad review if you want to see things get better for the animals here.. ? More money possibly means better for the animals . Bad reviews ruine a business people. Stop your whining and appreciate that our city has these beautiful animals that we are lucky enough to see in person for not that much money. These people work hard to make the place as good as it is. My kiddo loves it. So thank you boise.

The Boise Zoo has been around since 1916 with several updates. After Boise Zoo expands and updates this will be a nice place to visit and learn for the kids. Keep in mind that Boise is one of the fastest growing cities and with that will be a Zoo make-over. The staff here are friendly and helpful answering questions as they come. I am a photographer and love visiting each time, for a new adventure.

I like the Boise zoo but some of the animals like the old Tortoise and the two cats (the one with 3 legs) could use larger and nicer enclosures. The tortoise was pacing at his door and really his area (the inside and outside) dont look like a very relaxing or stimulating environment. We really are glad to have a zoo where we can see all the animals that we would otherwise not be able too.

This zoo is on the smaller side but its really fun. There are a few bonus things that make here great for small children: a couple of slides (free), tunnels under the groundhogs (free), an area where you can feed goats ($0.25 per handful of food), a carousel ($1/ride & includes ride for accompanying parent), and twice a day they allow visitors to hand feed the sloth bear or giraffe ($3).

I first visited Zoo Boise over 30 years ago and since then it has changed from a sad small town zoo to a place that is trying hard to do right for the animals. It is evolving from an exploiter to a protecter. Its caging is much improved and it now participates in international efforts on behalf of endangered species. Its worth seeing and your support will help it continue to improve.

The animals all look kind of sick. Their enclosures are way too small and the upkeep in the cages could be a lot better. There was garbage in almost every enclosures. I didnt see any toys for stimulation, going here just makes me sad. I saw alot of your volunteers but no one actually cleaning. I really hope the condition improves or please rehome these depressed animals.

Good variety of animals provided courtesy of small enclosures and small numbers of each animal. This zoo has a fun layout. They do a good job providing enrichment for the animals and the aviaries are pretty well done! I would just like to see them with more room and larger groups for some of the prey animals. To see more natural behaviors than pacing and panting.
