Wake Island Waterpark is known for its unique water activities, including cable wakeboarding and an inflatable "aqua park." It's a popular destination for both beginners and advanced wakeboarders.

I was a little wary that Wake Island was a fake business that Groupon was advertising (theyve had some shady offers - like the Aviation deal where you fly a jet plane, and it turned out to be a scam!). I couldnt resist booking this Groupon, and had such a blast, that I booked another Living Social deal when it came out. * HOW IT WORKS: Wake Island has 2 main lakes, a main lake for "advanced" wakeboarders complete with optional jumps/boxes. One for beginners who are learning (aka 2 tower cable). Essentially, you wakeboard on a lake in circles, and you hang onto a ski cable which tugs you around it. About 4 people ride at a time, so the line can queue up especially if the riders are advanced and dont fall off quickly. * PROS: - FAST - Kind of: This is a cool place to learn to do tricks, and its awesome because multiple people can ride at once (compared to a single person in a boat-operated system). - GOOD FOR BEGINNERS: If you fall, its a quick paddle to the lake shore, and an easy walk back to the main dock. Ill warn you now, I think you need to be somewhat athletic or at least know how to snowboard in order to enjoy your time here. * CONS: - UPGRADES REQUIRED: They offer add-ons like advanced boards that allow you to tie your feet securely to the board so you have extra security (I highly recommend you upgrade to). If you want to try any jumps, you need to pay $40 extra for this board. - LINES CAN GET LONG: Some days youre waiting 30 minutes for your turn, and it really sucks if youre like me and barely get a full lap in before you fall. There is only one main lake with jumps. Overall, I love Wake Island but would return only on weekdays when things are slow.

What they have here is pure gold for the heat of the Sacramento area. A combination of a cable wakeboarding system (that has been around for four years) and a brand new for 2015 unique "aqua park" that has really created a buzz for the park this year. While it looks more ninja warrior than it actually is, this "largest of its kind" inflatable waterpark is perfect for those looking for a water activity that is an alternative to waterslide parks in the area. For kids of a certain age, this floating platform of obstacles and slides will provide exercise and fun unlike anything else in the Gold Country. The challenge for Wake Island is for safety reasons they can only have so many on the course at a time. So on a hot summer day they have some capacity issues to work through. The day we were there we had to wait 4 hours for our 45 minute turn. Paddleboarding was sold out. The Beach Hut deli line was 30 deep. Granted - good problems to have - but they need to do a better job managing and communicating as they increase their capacity. Nice to see a local business being successful. If they can add another floating platform, organize the information both on the website and on the grounds in a way that enhances the customer experience - this can be a great local business success that could be replicated across the country.

Never Ever again! Went there opening week, it was amazing, I would have given it a 5 star review but I will NEVER go back. First I had a coupon (with no expiration date) for $10 off Aqua Park, they absolutely would not honor it. Its $10 for beach access now (instead of free) so we brought 3 kids and 4 adults, ended with 3 very upset little girls that couldnt understand why we couldnt go swimming. When we finally got in to the beach we needed food, Im okay spending $20-$30 on food/drinks when entry is free but now having to pay for it I ordered my Nachos for $11 and was charged $14!! I went to tell them and was told that was their old menu pricing and there was nothing they could do about it. walking away with my very overpriced food I see a guy at the order window TRADING sandwiches with someone. Yes you read correctly he took back a sandwich through the window. Anyone who has ever worked around food (or has any common sense) knows thats a huge OSHA fine!!!! Scared to eat my food I sit down to over hear a lifeguard ask "Did you give them directions to the Med 7 place" other Life Guard "Nah man! Thats not my job!" So glad THATS who were trusting with our lives. Bottom line: They will no accept their own coupons/discounts Changed the rules to overpriced entry Questionable food practices Unsafe/uncaring life guards WOW!

I cant believe how disappointed i was. I had called ahead with a group and was told no resevations were not needed. Then when I walked in I was treated rudely. I had my forms filled out waited in line then was asked to go to the side and all i needed to do was pay for my son. The man was talking to me as if I was dumb. I was dealing with the cashier asking if i could pay with cash and card, he cut in and was like you have to pay for all the kids. Umm duh! If he was tha cashier he would know. I dont know why he wanted to like follow behind me and just be rude from. the moment i walked in. I was there to let the kids so the obsticao course but i had to pay to sit on the beach, one option for food, come on your going to charge me to be one the beach thwn a arm and a leg for food. There sign says affordable family fun. Not when im paying alpt pf money. If your paying for the course or wake boarding there shpuld be like one free adult per 3 kids or something. Or if you are paying for the beach then you should be aloud snacks. Last this BEES like crazy!

This was our first time. After researching other water parks we came here because of no entrance fee for the adults while kids play. However beach area has a $10.00 charge and you have to bring your own shade so if your grandparents are with you best is to stay by lunch table area. This is quite a ways from the attractions so as a Mom of young kids makes it hard to keep checking on everyone. As for the food venders that sublet, Round Table Pizza, I ordered 2 slices but she only put the 2 very hot slices on one piece of paper and it was very hot so my daughter burned her hand. Waited at the window for help and no one came so I just went into the bathroom and got paper towels. My daughter has allergies to nitrates so checked with the sandwich shop The Deli Beach Hut, and asked if the turkey has nitrates the clerk said she didnt know and was not going to check. They had fun but feel that customer service especially from the venders that sub Lease is lacking. Competition is fierce and one bad experience can be harmful to any cooperation.

Wow, becoming more and more disappointed every time I go. First they advertise "free beach access", now its just "free access" (to nothing really). The staff is not the friendliest, especially at the front counter. The 45 minute obstacle course is really only about 35, maybe 40 minutes for everyone because not everyone can get on it at once, so those at the back of the line get a bad deal! What is really hypocritical about this new $10 beach access fee was a comment I overheard an employee tell a customer one time I was there..."You cant have outside food in here because we allow free entry. Unlike Folsom where they do charge a fee, you can bring food there." Then asked the family to leave. With only one choice for food, and now charging to "sit on the beach", they still wont allow people to bring in food or drinks! And "affordable family fun"? REALLY?! That trully no longer applies for this facility. Again, very disappointed with the direction this park is heading.
