Arabia Mountain is another one of those hidden gems few people know exists around Atlanta. Arabia mountains rocky terrain make it different than most other hiking trails around Georgia. Its a bit like climbing Stone Mountain except much flatter (not that Stone mountain is really that hilly). I enjoyed following the rock pile path markers as well as seeing water running down the gentle rocky slopes. The trail was fairly easy to follow and you get to see some interesting foliage that only exists on this hard landscape. At one end of the park, there is a pond/lake that was peaceful. My friend and I found a yellow smiley face crab spider (yes, thats a real thing) while we were there. That was pretty cool. Outside of that, there werent too many other critters that we saw.

***Disclaimer: If you are someone, with poor balance or get heat stroke quickly, this is not the trail. To the naked eye, this trail seems easy. For all intents and purposes, saying that the ascent, to the summit is much flatter than Stone Mountain is accurate. However, there is one resounding difference, in this trail and Stone Mountain...the signage. Most of the trail is self explanatory. However, the lake trail is only marked w/ minimal pieces of blue tape, which some hikers or immature people have pulled off, in places. If you decide you are going, to do this trail, do the summit or the lake. Dont try, to do both, in the same day. I would recommend taking 2-3 canteens of water, as the nature centers are located, about 1.5 miles, from the summit.

One of the best day hikes in the Atlanta area! A natural outcropping of granite from the same massive vein of granite in this part of North America that Stone Mountain and Panola Mountain arose from, this is a lovely place to relax, enjoy the day and view North Georgia as it once existed. There is no need to be an experienced hiker to simply enjoy a pleasant afternoon stroll, recommended for everyone in the Atlanta area!

Lots of paths and trails for various uses. Plenty of shaded areas. My kids loved the old quarry areas. The peak is beautiful and we were the only ones up there at the time. Good spot to picnic and fly kites. The only issue i had, which could be a big problem for some, is the lack of signage and trail markings. We had to improvise and hop a bridge to get to the peak. Also, if youre on foot watch out for rude bicyclers.

Its a great park to get out with other people while still feeling like you have the whole trail to your self. There are many natural sites and friendly people to meet especially those who work to there. The park rangers love their job as they were willing to take us under there wing while in the middle of teaching other children. about the things they can go out find in nature.

Excellent walking / biking paths, and outstanding hiking opportunities along the massive mountain rocks. There are even old house foundations scattered about on the site. Interesting flora growing throughout the area. The welcome centre is worth a visit as well. The staff is friendly and they sometimes show various animals from the area.

First visit for us, but wont be the last. There is beautiful scenery here to see. We took the lake walk from the nature center and saw some beautiful scenery in the quarry and at the lake. The lake path is about 1.3 miles. It was an easy walk. Wear shoes, not flip-flops for safety. Cant wait to come back and explore this area some more!

Love this place - been visiting over the last 7 years frequently. The area has grown considerably over the years with more trails. Very safe place to hang out, I have never seen or come across any problems. Heard of a few auto break-ins (hearsay). but just like anywhere dont leave things out where people can see what you have.

It is a great area to visit. It has the beauty of Stone Mountain, while costing MUCH less and also having fewer people. I highly suggest you go there. It has a completely different ecosystem, with mosses, shrubs, and trees you basically cant see anywhere else. Overall, it was awesome!

Lots of people on the weekends. Stay on the trails or go off for a bit! Paved, gravel, and natural trails. 4 places park and are small so carpooling is highly recommend unless on a weekday. No camping that I know of, unfortunately. Otherwise a great park with A LOT of trails/loops.

This place isnt as well known as its big brother "Stone Mountain" but has a lot of charm... "solution" pits pock its service, tiny lichen/moss gardens, scars of old quarrying and usually a lot less crowded than more well known spots. Also, excellent paved cycling trails nearby.

i so enjoy this park, both by myself and with my grandson we have spent time exploring the mountain and walking around in the nature trails. This place brings such serenity to me, I have gone here to place myself before the Lord in prayer.

Excellent walking and biking trails in and around a stone expanse. Loses a star just because although the boardwalks are really well kept the maps and lack of board information just doesnt tell you anything of note about the place.

Ive been hiking Arabia Mountain for nearly 30 years. I remember when there was no nature center, or level parking areas. There is always something new to see and discover. This is a true hidden gem of DeKalb county.

I was disappointed for all the reviews and hype online. Its much less touristy than Stone Mountain, though, and probably one of the best options for being only half an hour from the city.

I love coming here because its not as crowded or commercialized as other places like Stone Mountain. Great place to escape the bustle of the city. Also great sunrise/sunset spot.

Great place to bike, hike, run. It is not flat so great for biking because its not boring. Winding trails all paved, waterfalls, bridges. Truly amazing.

Made the trek with my sister and family in July 2016. I am not as active as I would like but this was a good climb. A must for all visitors, I think.

Its a steady hike allowing you to get a quicker pace for a good workout. Its not as busy as Stone Mountain so theres a lot more space to stretch out.

If you go Friday or Sunday mornings at 8am you can take a guided hike with Ranger Robbie. He keeps the hike evenly paced, fun, and educational.

Whether you choose to walk to Arabia Lake or Mountain Lake, both are charming - impressive landscape. Good for plane spotting too!
