A 69 acre former gravel pit. In the spring, it can be very muddy. If you have an interest in the scientific aspects of geology, this is an interesting place. However, if you just want to explore the beauty of nature, this may not be the best preserve for you. There are signs explaining some of the local flora and fauna and how the land was formed by glaciers. Apparently children come here on field trips sometimes. Not the greatest for scenery, but a certain crowd may enjoy it.

I hate to rate this place too positively, part of the appeal is that it was empty except for wildlife! We have lived nearby for years and never been until recently. We took our kids here this weekend and the wetlands were full of wildlife. We saw a small herd of deer that stared at us across a meadow. The kids also loved the big boulders and piles of rocks to climb on.

Fun place to explore with your kids. Bring a bucket and pick up some of your favorite rocks. Not much shade so bring lots of water and a hat for summer sunny days.
