Me, mom and my sisters went on July 28, 2016 and this one is definitely not one of my best experiences; thats for sure. When I was skating and I lost my balance, there was a boy (he looked about middle school-aged, in between 11-13 years old and he was a big kid) and he was laughing at me when I lost my balance and fell. And when my mom was skating, I saw the same boy that fell on the rink and was crying. Also, the bathroom was gross and only one toilet was clean. The other two were full of toilet paper and one of them was unflushed with pee and there was toilet paper all over the stalls and you had to go outside to wash your hands! There was also no water from the water fountain cuz it was turned off. I also did not like the music, which was rap and some of it might have been inappropriate for young children! But there were a lot of black people that are all about the rap there (I apologize, I dont mean to be a racist!) And when we were leaving, my mom got me in trouble cuz I was smart-mouthing her when she was about to call me something I dont like to be called (Becca) (And I dont want any of you folks calling me that either so please call me Rebecca.) So if you wanna go to a place run down by people that dont care about your concerns, be laughed at by an in your face-type middle school boy that will rain on your parade and you wanna use a gross bathroom, by all means; you will love this place! But if you dont want any of this dreadful stuff at a fun-place, I recommend K1 speed in Duluth in the Publix shopping center on Pleasant Hill road (across from Joes Crab Shack and there is a Wendys in that parking lot), which is 10x better! Im so not impressed with this one. Overall rating (numerically): 1/5 Letter grade: F-! If you are someone with in-your-face attitude or you cant get enough of that kind of behavior, trust me, you will love this run-down and outdated facility, but for me and the good guys that oppose rotten behavior, do not come here!!!!! We like K1 Speed 50x better!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This place needs to be torn down completely!!!!!!!!!! Update 10/12/16: Duane Glass has posted a review saying that the bigger and unruly kids make it less enjoyable for the younger children. I hadnt returned back and I NEVER will. Obviously, there are rules and there are some people with an in-your-face attitude that dont even care about rules or even respect. Also, when the water fountains were turned off and we told the management about, guess what they did about it; NOTHING. Not to mention that some of the music they play is some of the worst (Jason Derulo: "Whatcha say"), which is one of the worst songs of all time. Needless to say, I wont go back. There are rules and we need to follow them and one of the main rules in the real world is RESPECT. I am very dissapointed in the management and that kid I was being harassed by. This is unacceptable!!!!!!

Updated to 5 stars on 12/5. Ill admit, I am not very easy to impress, and easily disappointed. However, when I had pondered the idea of reviewing Sparkles, I could not think of anything negative to state in my review. Its not perfect (although nothing in this world is), but a day spent at Sparkles will result in a positive experience, beginning with a warm, inviting staff. I must say, after visiting many other skating rinks across the country for my business, Sparkles has consistently ranked as one of, if not, my #1 my favorite skating rink, with a large maple floor, much better music taste than other rinks, and an very safe environment (something other rinks seemingly struggle with). For the hardcore skate enthusiast, Sparkles is likely to impress you, and for the families wanting to just have a good time, its almost guaranteed that you will also enjoy your time here. My only piece of constructive criticism, and it is albeit a very minor piece, would be that Id recommend that the management would take a few minutes each session to get to know their regular customers more, as this would surely result in more satisfied customers. Kudos to the owner Glenn, his very sweet wife Julie, and all the other ones running this establishment such as Marcus, Amy, and Jenna, your hard work visibly shines through! EDIT: After stopping by for a skate session, I noticed that the management listened to my recommendation. The manager and I had a warm conversation, and I noticed him doing the same with other customers. For this reason, I am updating my review from 4 to 5 stars, as I feel that that this shows that Sparkles is dedicated to striving to be the best, and gives the best customer service of any skating rink I have ever visited. Bravo!

Ok, so I was looking for "hours open" today and saw the Google reviews, interested to see what people said I read some reviews. Here is my opinion: I have been taking my daughter to the Gwinnett location for about 8 years. Yes, its a bit expensive on the weekends, but for 8 hours (Friday 4:00-12:00 ) of good exercise and fun it boils down to about a buck fifty an hour... not that bad. Every other day is cheaper, and some sessions are almost free, well, $2 for 3 hours some week nights. Try any other amusement attraction in Atlanta, and 12 bucks for 8 hours isnt bad. The staff is friendly enough, I dont expect much from them, and they are usually smiling and happy folks. I have bought skates from here, and they went out of their way to ensure they made it to me by X-mas eve. The music is not what I like, but Im old. If your old like me, you wont like most of it either, not what we heard in the late 70s and 80s in the rink. I bring my ear buds and play pandora on my phone, problem solved. They do a good job keeping the little ones in the middle, its safe for little kids, the play ground/slide thing is good for little kids to take a break from skating, and let you sit a spell and watch. As you can tell, I have had a good experience in this rink for many years, I love the size of the skate floor compared to another local rink, and will come to this one before the others any day. BTW: an hour and a half of rapid skating burns 500 calories, and runs my heart rate to a workout level, so I count this as my weekend workout... whats not to love about that? :-)

Recently had my daughters birthday at Gwinnett sparkles and we were treated so poorly that we both left in tears!!! The staff was horrible except for my party host and ticket taker,.... but the manager was a complete nightmare, VERY UNPROFESSIONAL.... She tells me one thing on the phone, trying to get me too purchase a larger birthday package and then at the actual party she denies me half the accommodations that she previously promised....when I asked her about this she tells me, I dont know what to tell you.,,which eventually lead to a screaming match, where she told me the complaints stop with her, get over it, give me the damn skates!!!!! They also put their hands on two of the children to pull them out of the jungle gym that I PAID EXTRA for them to play in....needless to say, my daughters party was ruined...I have never been treated so poorly , and disrespected by anyone in my life... I wish I did not stoop to her level and argue back...it was like talking to a brick wall...very very trashy and unprofessional... And yes I had to pay for the whole party even though half the kids couldnt participate because they were an inch above the line to go in the play area...which she DID NOT tell me on the phone when she was jacking up the price...TOTAL SCAM.... Please save yourself the trouble and go to the next nearest skating rink...even another sparkles, but DO NOT GO TO GWINNETT SPARKLES!!!! Oh and here's a tip for the manager....QUIT...IF YOU HATE YOUR JOB, SAVE YOURSELF AND EVERYONE ELSE THE MISFORTUNE OF MEETING YOU!!!
