Ive read bad reviews of Old Town and can see their points. If you are looking for cleanliness to the point of sterility and expensive, up-market shops, bars, and restaurants, then Disneys Boardwalk will prove a better bet. If you are looking for a fun, affordable, and genuine good time, then Old Town is the place. I mention boardwalk as I find the Old Town experience similar to the Wild Wood, Atlantic City, and Coney Island boardwalks in the good old days. As long as Old Town pumps in the Fifties and Sixties music, the place holds its atmosphere. Unfortunately, sometimes they neglect to play the good old R&R and R&B, or, even worse, play seventies disco or eighties pop. Old town needs the Fifties and Sixties to make it work. As I said, things are old time boardwalk, most of the rides are not major league and their operators are "carney." Dont expect coat and tie clientel. Nevertheless, the people do behave and the place is safe. No Sardis or Le Bec Fin but the junk food from the gyros to the hot dogs to the burgers to the pizza to the ice cream is delicious and fairly priced. And how can you dislike anywhere that hands you a reasonably priced beer every ten feet? The Saturday night car cruise is the tops. But please Old Town management, dont let the Fifties and Sixties R&R and R&B slip. As long as the old time music is playing, I highly recommend this for an unpretentious, uninhibited family orientated good time

I have gone here every year for past 10 years, was an OK spot to visit especially when I had my 2 kids 5 years ago. I started going to the Old Town Amusement park and my kids liked the old style carnival rides starting 3 years ago. This year I went in mid August and bought a bunch of tickets at the workers urging. He stated that you get a discount with more tickets you buy and "they last forever-- they will never expire". I bought more than I could use that night, so I returned the 27th to use the rest. To my surprise as well as a few other people who where suckered the rides were all being dismantled by construction crew and no one from the ride company was present from that point on. I brought it up to Old Town Management Offices who own the property and rents the building. They informed me that they were not associated with them and that the people responsible simply came in that Monday without notice and started to remove the rides and gave no warning or forwarding address. They were also aware that a lot of other people were in my situation but they were not able to help any of us. Really-- you have all their property on your land and they have just ripped off and defrauded a bunch of your loyal (repeat) patrons who have been coming here for years, if not for decades, and you cant do anything!! How about holding onto their property until they address the problem of defrauding your patrons??

I have been coming to Old Town since I was pretty young, and I have always enjoyed it. They have tons of cool shops and some rides that my be well suited for thrill seekers. Two shops I would recommend are Auntie Annes Pretzels(You have never had a pretzel unless it is a freshly cooked Auntie Annes Pretzel) and The Black Hills Market(They have these bags full of dirt and cool stuff, which you can use in their "panning area" to find cool stuff.) Old Town also borders Fun Spot which has an Arcade and other rides. Every Saturday night Old Town Holds a car show. If you go in the evening you can see people who have brought their classic cars to display and drive though Old Town in a Parade like fashion. If you are in the area I recommend you check it out. Their is no admission cost and the only money you will spend at Old Town is in their many stores.

I had never heard of Old Town before and I have lived / worked all over Florida. I stumbled onto Old Town by using the net and finding things close Terra Verde Resort where we were staying for a week. During our visit to the attraction I enjoyed perusing some of the old nostalgia filled stores as well as the music playing from the speakers throughout the area, the souvenirs are cheaper than the ripoff I received at Magic Kingdom but that is a whole nother review.. I do enjoy the classic muscle cars and seeing the all of the flyers in the windows and on the buildings about the weekly car shows and rod runs, I will definitely be returning in the future. The attached amusement park was not open during our Friday early afternoon visit and no one could give us a definite answer as to the operating hours.

This shopping and entertainment area has struggled for years, but is still a good place to walk around with the kids and stretch your legs for a bit. They have made great strides to improve and freshen up the overall look and feel of the area. On weekends they hold car shows of one sort or another. Check their website for schedule of events. The leather shop is a must see; with an old west look and feel, down to the plank floor. The air filled with the smell of fresh leather hide. Flippers Pizza is a central Florida icon and has great fresh food to order. Sit and relax and enjoy an evening dinner and walk it off shopping. Remember that by visiting here, you are supporting local businesses that spent their money here.

I have loved Old Town for as long as Ive loved Orlando. Its quite underrated and often gets a raw deal when it comes to reviews. This is not a high tech, six foot tall costumed furries running rampant type of place, nor should anyone be expecting that. Appreciate it for what it is... Very cool, unique, nostalgic, affordable, well-rounded fun. It does need to fill up a bit more and diversify the shops again. Im still missing the sock shop!!! Love the car shows, and used to consider the Halloween event to be one of the most interesting in the area, but that went completely out the window last year. Great drinks, good food, fun music. Definitely worth a visit!

Old Town has the worst management I have ever seen possible. Theyre so uptight. They think they run Disney World like theme/attractions. They dont. They attempt to be professional but lack professionalism in many aspects. They lie about many operations, and hide multiple things behind peoples back. If you show in a moment that youre smarter than their management staff, or supervisors, theyll eventually fire you within a week or two. Its happen to many employees and I know a lot of workers who worked there in the past and currently. They over charge rent so much. Its 4,000 grand a month for small shops in Old town.

Old Town will always be a special place to most of those who grew up with it being like an old town, but it isnt like that now. While it still hosts its classic car shows with the cruise, all of the stores and the overall atmosphere has changed. The General Store was a place that was very iconic and important to Old Town, but over the years the General Store has stopped selling small glass bottle sodas, it has changed the type of merchandise to cater to tourists and it has lost its authentic feel. Old Town is still somewhere fun to hang out, just dont expect the old fashion place that existed 25 years ago.
