The one thing this place has going for it is lack of immediate competition. In the Brandon area you have the two creature castles and Aqua Star that stock both fresh and salt water live stock. I have purchased from the several times due to this lack of competition as I cant always drive to Tampa when I need fish/supplies. FRESHWATER- live stock is the stronger point to this small store. Quite a varied selection and healthy inhabitants. SALTWATER- Limited selection, generally comprised of your standard "beginner" fish, the coral selection is tiny and I would advise you skip this shop if you are looking for coral. The lighting utilized are T5s and their corals do not seem overly healthy. Keep in mind this is a small shop and the tanks/displays are all made by the employees so it lacks that clean sleek appearance of many. The customer service is very mediocre and sometime you will receive no help due to under staffing or the workers not paying attention. If you have questions on livestock these guys are not the most informed so take what they have to say and back it with others or online.

Im not hard to please but when you have 5 people working and no one is attentive its a problem. My wife an I went in to purchase a few fish and every time my wife asked how much a fish was the girls with purpleish hair would say "thats not for sale" then dont put the fish in the same tank you have everything else listed for sale. We literally asked about 3 different fish all in different tanks"thats not for sale" " thats not for sale" look I get it however, at least lie to me and tell me youre aclimatimg them or give me a different option. If I were the owner I would not have such incompetent sales people working for me. She wasnt even friendly and thats both young girls working there the ones in their 20s. Heres a thought on my initial complaint. When someone asks you if something is for sale you should tell them " thats not for sale but let me help you find something that will work for you and your wife" we ended up buy about 80 bucks in fish nothing crazy but definitely a poor experience!!!!!!

I stopped in with my daughters to stock an already established tank. My sister passed and I got the tank from this tragedy. The tank is freshwater and 75 gallons. After about 10 mins I was greeted and asked did I need help. This was turn off ,but hey I had three little girls excited about getting more fish that they could pick out. So I advised them of my plans and just let the staff explain options etc.... Well the two types of fish they wanted to buy were incompatible. The staff then ask me about water quality, i have tested The water and its ready because it has fish in The tank. Im guessing the guy I dealt was either new ,or just didnt care .He leads me to some ugly BS fish. At the end of the day I should be able to get what I want. So if You have an idea of what you want dont shop here. If you want to be told what to buy be my guest! In the end you wont be happy. I will never come to this place again. I will make it a point to let my friends who suggested this place know as well

My wife and I spent over a thousand dollars at the Aquarium and fish store ,we bought dwarf gourami fish and with two days they both died and they did exchange the first time but out of the two one was starting to turn blue as soon as we put in r Aquarium and lasted only under 10 days and we had r water check with the tester strips and it check good . now my complaint is when we call the staff at the Aquarium they told my wife that they give us store credit of $4.95 if are water check good, my wife went back at the Aquarium store and the water check out good there to, now they wont exchange it because store policy,now my question is why could they not be honest from the start .P.s. they lost a costumer over &5 dollars, my wife and I will not shop there any more.

Was there today for the first time looking for some suction cups for my Eheim hoses. Walked completely around the store, stood at the counter trying to see the parts on the wall behind the counter. I was in the store for probably 10 - 15 minutes and not one person attempted to help me. There were no other customers in the store and one person was too busy leaning over a tank texting to even acknowledge a customer was in the store. Customer service needs to be first and foremost. I will NOT return to that store.

This store is very clean and they have a great selection of fw & sw fish, they are a little pricey but they have the best selection around and are knowledgeable but you have to ask...I agree with the other post, I know both stores very well and Creature Castle in Valrico is a lot better priced and they will really help you out. If you want to know something ask Mark or Jason, they are great but you may have to stand in line. People stand in line just to talk to them ;) Im one of them.

I happened to see this store while driving to a different pet store not too fsr away. I decided to stop in to see what they had and I was not disappointed.. the staff were friendly and knowledagble and they had fish that I had never even seen before. I was recently able to purchase a top for my 75 gallon tank and I couldnt be happier. This is officially my favorite pet store!

Love the store, love the staff. Had to break down. My coral reef a few years ago and am so excited that I can finally get it set back up again. This place was my first call. Disappointed that they are not open on Sundays- but, other than that- I KNOW they will take good care of me and assure a successful coral reef from day one.

I love shopping for my saltwater supplies here. They have everything from fresh and saltwater fish and a good selection of fish tanks. There live food selection is good and I always get my RO water from this store, excellant price!! The staff is friendly, knowledgeable and helpful.

I wanted a few tiny ghost shrimp for my freshwater aquarium. They use these as feeder fish. I asked several times to let me pay for them, but they gave them to me for free. Friendly and helpful. I know where Im getting all my local supplies from now.

The staff (Bobby, Jon, Alex) all know their stuff. Very helpful. The fish and supplies are the best in the Brandon area. Located in La Viva plaza. Also water is in ample supply.
