ive donated to this museum for years; its a great institution and brings in a cool crowd of hipster art-gorpers to see some interesting modern work which you wont find elsewhere in denver. however, every now and again, they show something which borders on the disgusting/obscene and tarnishes the experience. i guess thats the risk of visiting a modern art museum today, but to my eye (and definitely to my kids eyes), its garbage and we dont need to be reminded to "discuss and appreciate art in all its forms" when the form is offensive. lets leave obscenity where it belongs: internet chat rooms for the depraved and lonely. lets celebrate beauty, kindness and love, and show great art which supports a healthy society, not teaches it to tolerate filth as though it is something worthwhile.

By far my favorite museum in the Denver Metro Area! wonderful exhibitions. I would recommend anyone to check out the MCA. Awesome architecture as well! Also, I see posts by others using excessive exaggeration giving the MCA one star with negative comments and should know not to lie on a review. Although First Amendment rights are important and must be upheld, deliberately sabotaging the viability of a business must also be discouraged. Outright lying is considered defamation and individuals who take part in these types of activities can and will be held liable.

This museum is great. I spent several hours here checking out a Basquiat and Ryan Mcginley exhibit while I was in town. Beautiful images. Beautiful building. Friendly staff. The gift shop is pretty awesome too...a nice selection of vinyl (kinda highly priced), crafts, books, and other odds and ends. I picked up a rare Harmony Korine book that I was stoked/surprised to find. The Stacks is a great interactive exhibit, make sure to check it out.

Theres almost always something funky and interesting on exhibit. Sometimes its stuff a little more controversial, subversive or naughty than youre likely to find at a more traditional place like say the Denver Art Museum, and Ive seen lots of installations with interactive or audio and video components. The entrance and architecture alone are worth checking out if youve not been. Its a great addition to a day exploring downtown.

This small gem houses thought-provoking works in a soaring space, topped with a comfortable rooftop cafe/bar. The result? Good views inside and out, especially on those rare clear, sunny Denver days. Were still talking about Brian Bress bizarre "Make Your Own Friends" exhibit and Arne Svensons controversial "The Neighbors." Arrive just after opening, and you may have the entire place to yourself, which we did -- and loved it.

While we were given free admission, this place was quite the letdown. They were in the middle of "installing" some artwork throughout basically the entire building so we went straight to the rooftop terrace and had a blueberry old fashion. The old fashion was the best part of my trip to the Museum of Contemporary Art in Denver. Hopefully when the new art is installed this will be a much better experience for visitors.

In the grand scheme of museums I wasnt particularly impressed. Its cool that they switch out the work so often but often but some of it was just ridiculous and at times pornographic. I dont consider a lot of what I saw to be art pieces. You get a great view from their rooftop bar although bottom of the line drinks are insanely overpriced. I cant say Id go back.

I have been several times, and I have thoroughly enjoyed it each time. As for the reviewers saying there was nothing to see - thats a shame and that hasnt been my experience. I cant say it has been fully populated with exhibits, but there has always been enough to keep me engaged for the duration of my visit. Always something new - always interesting.

I thought the three exhibits during my visit were gross, weird, un-artistic and inappropriate. Graffiti artists who committed criminal acts with tags, should not be glorified. Showing 1,500 polaroid portraits of visitors to your home is not art. And showing graphic sexual acts in a public museum is closer to porn theatre than contemporary art.

The architecture, and upkeep of the museum is quite good; I dont want to talk negatively about any artists, because I consider myself a huge appreciator, and collector of all types of art, but I felt as though the quality of the art presented was not quite what I was looking for in a paid museum visit. It pains me to leave this review.

The facility is an amazing Leeds certified structure. The space on the roof top is a favorite with little garden nooks to gather and have coffee or just enjoy the Denver city view. I wish it was a bit bigger to house more art. I do like the featured artists that come through as they bring in big names and up and coming artists.

Perfect for a Friday night date since admission is only $5 after 5pm (they are open until 9pm most Friday nights). Additionally their staff is super friendly and love talking about art and current exhibitions. Not all exhibits are family friendly, however they do have a great kids area on the third floor.

Fantastic rotations of contemporary art. Each of their gallery floors features a different artist or different collective with every feature. The staff are knowledgeable and pleasant. I always enjoy my time here, and usually finish off a visit with a drink from their delightful café on the roof.

I never appreciated this Museum until I learned about the identity and history of this place. They are super innovative and interactive in all of their events and their exhibitions, though few, are engaging. It gives a great perspective and voice to contemporary artists everywhere.

I felt like this museum left a lot to be desired. I realize that art takes many forms but there wasnt many pieces of art I enjoyed at this museum. Its a good thing it only cost $5 to get in. You would be a lot more satisfied going to the Denver Art Museum or the Kirkland Museum.

A very nice modern museum. There are rotating exhibits which make it worthwhile to come back. The first Saturdays of every month is Penny Saturday where admission is just one cent. The rooftop cafe offers nice views of downtown and a welcoming space to grab a drink and relax.

True, there is a lot of open space in this Museum, but I think that is its mission - to bring contemporary art to Denver. The upstairs restaurant and lounge is one of the best places for a view of Denver and great openings. A world-class museum that we are fortunate to have.

Super small, takes no more that 15 min to get through. Disgusting pornographic "art" that consists of maybe 10 paintings and too many photographs to count. Its a stretch to call anything in this building even contemporary art. Oh and I paid to experience this abomination.

Excellent museum of contemporary art, featuring both national and Colorado artists. The building galleries vary in size and shape, providing different spaces to explore the presented artwork. I especially enjoyed the installations of Nathan Carter and Kim Dickey.

The subject matter of this museum is interesting. It was not at all what I expected. The facility itself was fantastic, large an open with quite people respecting the art. As I mentioned the subject matter was just not something I wanted to pay to see.

The museum of contemporary arts in Denver is host to some fabulous works of art and some amazing opportunities for students and artists. Ive personally had one of my images displayed in the museum itself through one of the teen art programs they offer.
