I was a vendor at a wedding held at Ashton Gardens in Sugar Hill, Ga. The place is very nice but be aware that they have some very unusual and disturbing regulations. The first person I saw was a county law officer...later there were two. I found out later that as soon as the bride walks down the aisle, an officer will stand in front of the chapel door and forbid any latecomers from entering. I understand the intent but why a police officer? I have worked at over 400 weddings and in many cases the wedding coordinator handled late arriving guests. The weather was awful that day and the traffic all over the Atlanta area was jammed up - making it difficult for all guests to be on time. Is it that big a deal that late arriving guests quietly take a seat in the rear??? Later at the reception I noticed some tense conversation near the bar between some guests and one of the managers. As it turns out the management was enforcing a two drink limit at the bar...for a four hour reception!!! They even posted a very stern looking police officer at the single small bar to enforce this ban! Something about liabilities. I have never seen such a limit at any bar Ive ever been to and never at weddings. Eventually the father of the groom demanded that the policeman leave the bar and the drinks began to flow again. But by this point, after about an hour, the damage was done and the party never really recovered. I also found the wedding coordinator to be friendly but not especially helpful. There was apparently no real time plan for the reception which is not unusual but did not help all the vendors...band, photographer, videographer... do their job. Seems like the reception events just happened spontaneously without any notice and we all had to scramble to do our jobs. And the general manager was rather pushy and demanding...not the kind of person I enjoy working with. If youre going to pay a lot of money for a wedding and reception (and you will at Ashton Gardens!), you can find other venues where you do not have to compete with other weddings happening at the same time at the same place...for much less money!

BEAUTIFUL Chapel! From the moment I saw the chapel I knew I wanted to get married here. Calling and setting up an appointment was easy. I was able to meet with someone that same week. After booking, Ashton Gardens had such an open line of communication that put me at ease. Celita, their director was very helpful in answering questions and going over the contract. Throughout the process, we were assigned to the coordinator Carrie and it was the best thing! She was very attentive, sweet, and caring! We werent just another bride to her. We were a person and could tell she was just as excited for my day as I was. She was very attentive in planning and helping us have our dream wedding! It is a bit pricey for the suburbs of north Atlanta. They do offer a variety of times/days in which you can get married which can cut costs. Do pay attention to the contract and understand what is included as well as gratuity and tax. You arent allowed on property until an hour before your wedding but Carrie was able to get us on property 2 hours before. It just depends on your coordinator as well as what is going on that weekend. Just be prepared for that. The Mac & Cheese bar IS DELICIOUS!!!!! I could just eat that all night. Yum!!!! All my guests talked about the mac & cheese bar. The other food was okay but the Mac & Cheese bar blew the other food out of the water! I was the bride and didnt eat much but wish I could have eaten more Mac & Cheese. Yum!

It was a year before my wedding and my then fiancée and I wanted a traditional church venue but one that included a reception hall as well. That’s when I came across Ashton Gardens Atlanta. Our prayers had been answered. They had the chapel, the ballroom, and the food. So, I called them immediately and booked an appointment with MARY WHITE. She was soooo helpful and knowledgeable & she explained everything to a tee. I booked the venue the same day. From that point, I must have called Mary a thousand times with venue questions, menu questions, décor questions, vendor questions, etc., but she always responded back to me immediately with the information I needed. The day of the wedding came and I was blown away!! Mary and the Ashton Gardens had everything as promised. She worked closely with my vendors to ensure that every detail & every request was met!!! My guests were blown away and every told me that is the best wedding they have ever been to! They had never seen such a venue nor such exceptional service. The food was great as well, very fancy and tasty! My hubby & I were SO happy, all we could do was smile!!!! I would like to thank MARY WHITE and Ashton Gardens for giving me a phenomenal day! This place is like a well oiled machine. Everyone knows their job and does it well! I would definitely recommend them to any bride who wants wow her guests and have an unforgettable, worry-free wedding day!

The venue is quite beautiful and so absolutely no complaints about that. There are several prickly contract issues that just seem uncooperative. 1)Wedding party cannot arrive to take pictures more than 1 hour before the wedding. This is really not enough time since many guests arrive early and have to be told to wait outside. 2)During inclement weather, the Operations Director stated that folks arent allowed to wait in the reception hall before the reception. If not allowed in the ballroom yet, then fine, close the doors, but dont make guests stand outside in rainy & windy weather only to be chilled before the wedding. Many times elderly family come to these events and cant stand outside and get chilled easily. Be reasonable and work with the wedding party to avoid hassles such as this "rule." 3)They dont actually lock the brides room & grooms room during the ceremony. Just asking for theft. 4)Dont clear dishes during the toasting time. Thats just unprofessional and disrespectful. While Ashton Gardens is beautiful, the staff is not too cooperative. Just find a better place where when you spend more than $15k, they work as a team with the wedding party, not as an obstacle. Just find a friendlier place to hold your special day and avoid Ashton Gardens.

Had my wedding here in August 2015, and I thoroughly enjoyed it! We booked the venue only a month in advance (we had planned to do it elsewhere, but something came up), and the ladies made the whole process very easy. I had originally wanted to do a DIY wedding, but because of circumstances, I had to choose AG, and I am so glad I did! I didnt have to worry about anything, which is honestly worth the money. They had a promotion going on and the wedding was on a Sunday, so I was actually able to afford having the wedding here. My coordinator was Tara, and she was a doll. Everyone involved felt comfortable at the wedding, and the guests loved the venue and even the food (we did all vegetarian eggplant Parmesans for everyone). My only complaint is that they dont have a sound system, and Tara told me I would be able to take pictures outside the chapel at a certain time, but once I got there, there was another coordinator telling me we couldnt take pictures because of another wedding was going on. Overall, great experience. I would highly recommend them to anyone who wants the process to be self-running, even if it means losing some control and uniqueness (they are a wedding mill).
