Dave was our guide and he was great. We learned about history of living there and of how they mined. We got to use a hammer and chisel to chip our own ore from the vein to keep - I dont know where else you can do that. While we were panning for gold, I was talking with Dave about what he did for mine rescues. Dave was great with the little kids in the other group that went with us and had an extra hunt for them to do with the tommyknockers. While you get to go pretty far into the mine, there are 2 other levels that I hope someday they will open to see even more.

This was an incredible experience. The guide was knowledgeable and passionate and answered all our questions. He shared the history of the mine, how they mined in centuries past vs. how its done today. We actually mined the gold with a pick and small sledge hammer and were able to take a small treasure home! We were shown how to pan for gold as well, which is much harder than it looks! Contrary to one review, we were able to pay with credit card without any problem. The cost was well worth the experience! Thanks for an INCREDIBLE experience!

The best gold mine I have ever been too in Colorado.! My boys 8 and 12 were amazed that they can touch and experience the mine. For kids and for me and my husband it was such a fun to take the tools and try to mine gold .Our guide David was telling the sto r y of the mine with the natural excitement. We love every part of it. Thank you for the great experience. ...I will remember that to the rest of my life.

This is a great tour of a previously worked gold mine. It is chocked full of education about the mining process, has an old mining camp on-site, and it can give you an exciting opportunity to use some tools yourself - you can use a hammer and chisel on an ore vein to get a small sample. This would be a great tour for the whole family.

Super family friendly! About an hour easy walk into the mine and at the end of the walk you get to chip a piece off the wall. We had 5 years to 65 years and all had a great time. Would definitely recommend the extra $5 a person to pan for gold at the end. All of us found some great little bits and had fun.

We had a personal tour of the mine. All questions were answered with enthusiasm and the guide was very friendly. We even mined from a beautiful rich vein. The guide was extremely knowledgeable with a good sense of humor.

Very good. I would suggest reservations but we walked in and had 2 spots left. You get to chisel your own gold out of a gold vein and keep it. Staff is knowledgeable in all things mining and were friendly and helpful.
