I am not big into touristy beach towns and when we went to the coast to see the pacific ocean (from the east coast) this was a pleasant surprise. The beach wasnt over populated and its a great place for beginning surfers if you want to try your luck. There is also a cool pier where sea lions and otters frequently hang out, sun themselves etc. In addition, there are some decent places to grab a bite to eat down the boardwalk away from the main swimming area that do a pretty decent job of being authentic. The beach had a fair amount of sea weed washed up (I dont mind that but its not for everyone). There are a fair amount of homeless drifters, probably due to the nice weather. I spent about an hour BSing with a chill homeless couple on some rocks by the beach while my daughter attempted to surf.

My husband has been going here since a child and I love it. The wharf is beautiful with lots of shops and food at every section, watching the seals is absolutely fun. My only downside is all the restrictions they put on the dogs, it used to be very laid back but theyve gotten a little more strict. The last time, I had 2 small dogs on leash with me and felt I was a little more targeted by the officer on the board walk. Several people had their pups and one lady had a schnauzer off leash running around and he only came up to me and said something about the dogs not being allowed on the board walk and not to do it next time. It made me feel a little upset but not enough to ruin my time.

This is a long wharf and along it there are various shops and restaurants. You can get a great view of the boardwalk and the amusement park rides on it. Whats more interesting, however, is whats *underneath* the wharf - seals! Really big seals. They were sleeping when I visited but Im told they can get quite active. They were nice to check out, there are several spots on the wharf where you could easily view them by peering over the side. It was pretty windy when I went, not sure if thats the norm but you are on the water so bring a hair tie if youve got longer hair and dont want it in your face the whole time.

Sea lions, otters and seagulls plus good places to eat and fun shops to browse. We ate at Stagnaros at the end of the wharf and it was so yummmy. John had the biggest order of fried calamari wed ever seen, my fish and chips was so flake and moist I ate every bite of fish, the breading was light and crisp and piping hot. Th e popcorn shrimp were lightly breaded and also piping hot. Jim had the fish tacos and they were great, just a hint of heat and very filling. Jess had a burger and ate every bite. Plus yummy little sourdough rolls great clam chowder and perfect house salads.

I love the wharf I lived in Santa Cruz all my life will almost all my life I moved here when I was four years old that was in 1964 days to go fishing off this wharf and catch so many fish all the tourists would stop to check it out Im not kidding I remember days of 30 to 50 fish and my mom would take me there when I was younger just to spend time there and we bring home cat food basically but I used to catch red snapper perch there were so many fish its really sad its not the same anymore it seems like all the starfish of even died off we have killed the ocean

Nice view of the beach. Awesome place to fish and look at sea lions. You are not allowed to smoke, nor to take flash photography of animals. You have a vast selection of restaurants and shops. The food however across the warfare does feel repetitive. Santa Cruz offers more than just the wharf and beach. They have a downtown too. However if you go for the wharf make sure you have a jacket saved, it gets chilly as it gets dark. Even during the summer you can be cold at night.

This wharf is one of the best in California, it is one of the few that you can drive on. There are so many places that have good food. The Dolphin on the wharf has one of the best best chowder soups that I have ever had in my entire life. It has a nice walk during which you would enjoy a good breath and a nice view. If you are near Santa Cruz you must go!! Make sure to have a jacket it could be a little chilli for some people :)

Great place to hang out and people watch. You can fish from it, and even rent tackle for a few hours. Get your seafood fix, and various locations, and there are plenty of sit down places to enjoy a nice meal and some cocktails. Theres even a place to grab a nice coffee, ice cream or some famous salt water taffee. Be sure to catch a view of the sea lions too.

The wharf has seen better days, and Santa Cruz itself can be a bit sketchy. Still, the wharf is enormous and has a ton of fresh seafood options. Even better, go early in the morning when you can see hundreds of sea-lions playing in the water or basking in the sun. This is the closest I have ever been to them in their natural habitat and it was amazing!

Fun, many shops and restaurants but the pervasive smell of urine quite spoiled the walk. Something should be done about that. Dogs are not allowed on the wharf but apparently men are allowed to urinate in the corners of the sidewalks and in the buildings. I paid 72.00 for a lunch for two and then nearly lost it walking along the wharf.

One of the oldest in California with food, cocktails and of course amazing area to view the ocean. There is a nice candy store that has the old style candy and many people like to fish at the end of the pier as most other piers. The food is all reasonable rates and not over price no matter where you go and the people are very welcoming

This place is pretty cool! A classic boardwalk feel to it, probably because it is a classic boardwalk. The sea lions were fun to watch lounge around and it was a beautiful day to enjoy some sunshine. The beach was nice and in good shape. I didnt get to ride any rides or anything since they were shut down due to being later in the year.

Una passeggiata merita farla...occhio al mare, ad agosto si avviatano le balene! Se noleggi un battello potrai andarle a vedere da vicino. Da non perdere

I went fairly early (9a) and everything was still closed (thus the 3 star rating), but beautiful scenery! The seal ions are very lively there too! Not sure how much parking is (I was lucky enough to find a spot outside the wharf and walked in), but you do have to pay if you want to park on the wharf or close to it!

THIS WAS THE BEST MEAL I HAVE TASTED IN YEARS! Personally I got the salmon in pastry with spinach and holianse sauce with rice pilaf and vegetables. This was so delicious I would recommend this place in a heart beat. Kids got the kids fish and chips and have not stopped talking about them all day... Thanks Kas
