The Palace of Fine Arts is like an old world charm! This majestic roman statuettes with its pillars makes one feel, somewhat-authentically Greek without having to fly out of San Francisco. Seeing the ducks, seagulls and a few white swans gave me a bit of a chuckle. How wonderful it must be, to see such great animals doing about what they do best, while totally oblivious and trusting of human footsteps only centimeters from their distance. I have been inside the Theater and watched a few shows here and there, but nothing so spectacular as the outside, especially when it is all lit up at night in its full glory! During my visit, it was nice to see young lovers alike, capturing their Kodak moment, and some, came fully spiff up with their white satin gowns, top hat and all! To take in the beauty of this place, I recommend starting across the water, working yourself from the outside in. You will capture a wider lens and great compositions! Cheers! ~ :p

The architecture of this place is great. I love the view of the water fountain and big columns. The Palace of Fine Arts in the Marina District of San Francisco, California, is a monumental structure originally constructed for the 1915 Panama-Pacific Exposition in order to exhibit works of art presented there. One of only a few surviving structures from the Exposition, it is still situated on its original site. It was rebuilt in 1965, and renovation of the lagoon, walkways, and a seismic retrofit were completed in early 2009. In addition to hosting art exhibitions, it remains a popular attraction for tourists and locals and is a favorite location for weddings and wedding party photographs for couples throughout the San Francisco Bay Area and such an icon that a miniature replica of it was built in Disneys California Adventure in Anaheim.

Although theres not much to do at the Palace structure itself, its a beautiful place to sit and contemplate. It looks out over a lake and there is usually plenty of wildlife around to watch, as well as all sorts of visitors. There are often wedding shoots (or ceremonies!), and other photographic events taking place since this is such a serene and striking backdrop. The Exploratorium apparently used to be nearby, but moved to a bigger place on the Embarcadero, so now theres a different discovery museum instead. They had a Hunger Games exhibit that looked pretty unappealing, so we skipped it. But walking around the Palace was nice, and dreaming about owning one of the townhomes overlooking the lake from across the street!

Beautiful place. A must stop place to take some beautiful pictures.

Awesome place to hang around while waiting for the 101 Golden Gate bridge traffic to wane down (at least thats what we did). The colossal, but beautiful architectures is a MUST SEE! The Swan couple now have their "ugly duckling" swimming with them - "soooocute!" as my 3 y/o exclaimed. I DO NOT know if Ill use my DSLR or my camera phone to capture the beauty of this Palace - I used them both and after a thousand shutter presses or more... I said I must go back! They had Hunger Games exhibit and some new technology stuffs when we visited (07022016) which added more things to do... but, not necessary IMHO. Because the Palace itself is that awesome. Go prove me wrong!

I was just about to say exactly what the last poster, Avel Manansala, did. It felt exactly like you were back in the time of gods and goddesses--and magical possibilities... especially at night,. (At the time I thought I might have been primed for that, as Id been a Classics major for awhile.) I visited many years ago, but it sounds like it hasnt changed at all. I was staying with a friend, a few blocks away, and almost every night we ran down the hill, then sat on the ledges in the moonlight, with the swans still elegantly floating on the lake, and it felt like a dream. Im so happy to know it hasnt changed. A very special place.

This place was booked for a school event. They have an entry way, a reception area, and theatre. The experience of getting a call back took over 4 weeks after multiple voice messages. Then there are tons of rules, which include requiring to move and set up tables in the reception area (usually venues you can submit a floor plan and everything is set up), you have to supply a bunch of staff to do security and help take tickets, but everything is given to you verbally so its just hard to keep up and not everything was covered the first visit.

The Palace of Fine Arts is absolutely gorgeous! We were there to see the Hunger Games exhibit. Seeing the costumes worn in the movies and learning more about what went into creating the movies was an enjoyable expeience. There were options for an audio tour and also to have yourself filmed as Katniss or Peeta riding in on the carriage as seen in the first movie. We elected not to participate in these options because we were exhausted. The experience is very hands-on and you have lots of opportunities to experience these movies in new ways.
