This is one of San Franciscos best parks. It provides a diversity of experiences in an accessible amount of space. Ill get to ADA Compliance in a bit. If you want to experience a vestige of truly natural Park space with a natural stream, plenty of native habitats, opportunities to play on a field or play ground and desire a nice hike or walk through willow thickets, then this is the place for you. Beware however that there are coyotes and poison oak. Make lots of noise if you opt for a hike through the stream bed areas. Walk up to one of two mounts to view the park and parts of SF that you really cant get from other parks and open spaces in the city. While the front entry of the park is ADA Accessible, the more rustic areas are not as much so beware if you are on wheels, use a cane or crutches. The rec center is undergoing a huge transformation so that will offer even greater opportunities for Park goers. Only thing missing are more drinking fountains and restrooms and more space for passive recreation. Much of the natural turf is relegated to programmed play.

Gorgeous setting for a wide variety of outdoor & indoor recreational activities for all ages. It has the only indoor climbing wall in San Francisco Parks. During the school year there is a coop preschool held here. The same facility also does double duty in the summer as a day camp. The fields are used for softball games for kids as well as adults, There also soccer games for young kids held here. The tennis courts here are very popular. People bring their dogs for off leash romps and walk or hikes on the various trails thru out the canyon that forms a part of the park. As if that werent enough, during the summer the meadow in the park hosts the San Francisco Mime Troop for shows. There is a newly renovated recreation center where diffferent types classes for people of various ages are held & there are basketball courts which double as performance & meeting spaces. It is indeed a one of the best parks in the city!

As a Glen Park local and regular at G.P Canyon, I love to hike with my pup in the morning with my cup of coffee. There are coyotes, so if you have a tiny dog its an absolute must to leash them while on trails through the trees. Youll risk your tiny dogs life if you fail to be observant and aware of your dogs protection. Its happened a few times where coyote have snatched peoples dogs for food. Its sad, but these coyote are only trying to survive through the loss of their homes. So keep your loved one safe. Aside from this. Its a little bit country atmosphere in the middle of a metropolitan city. Fantastic vista points and great place for kids to play.

While tiny in comparison to Golden Gate Park, its an easy way to feel like you are in a forest preserve without ever leaving San Francisco. You can hop on the the BART and its only a short 10 minute walk to the entrance. There are lots of very, very well behaved dogs. Rather than mowed lawns and paved paths, this park is mostly dirt and gravel with a more wild feel to it. From the center of the park, you see very few homes. Its neat to watch the change of the seasonings as the hills turn from lush green to brown. Theres even a tiny marshy area with a wooden bridge over it. I like to sit on the rocks half way up the canyon and just relax.

This park is amazing. Ive been in the SF Bay Area for years, and I just discovered it today. Hiking trails are easy to follow and offer beautiful views. The park is a geologic goldmine. Beautiful wildflowers and huge rock outcroppings everywhere. And theres even a stream running through. If youre interested in seeing FANTASTIC geologic examples of the Franciscan Melange, youll find plenty here. Tourists and locals alike should visit this beautiful urban park. Were it not for the amazing San Francisco views youd forget you were in the middle of a crowded city.

Bring a towel if you are bringing a dog. Your dog will get very dirty. I was elated when I found a beach towel in my trunk after our hike as I was struggling to figure out how I was going to get a muddy dog back home. Benji was extremely happy with the outing. He climbed hills, sniffed lots of other doggies, and rolled around in the mud. There were many other happy pups enjoying their morning walk. Glen Canyon Park is truly a sanctuary in the City. Well have to go back soon to explore another part of the park.

Docked one star merely for the chill that persists year-round. This park is beautiful, and word has it that dynamite helped carve out the canyons. Take your dog off-leash on the trails that run up the canyon towards Safeway (and Diamond Heights). Or relax on the green, play a game of tennis, or head into the rec center for basketball. This place has it all!

Cool neighborhood park with a variety of areas. There are trails that are fairly flat and stay along the floor of the canyon, and others that go up and down the canyon and connect to other streets and Christopher playground. Has a large field and recently renovated playground and tennis courts. The main building is currently under renovation

Beautiful natural oasis in SF. I go on runs here from Bernal Heights. There are times when you cant see any signs of civilization while running. Highly recommended. I wish there were views like at the other SF parks (which tend to be hills), but its a canyon. Oh well. I saw three cool birds there on one run.

Even though its right in the middle of SF, it feels very wild and secluded. We saw several groups bouldering on giant rocks (awesome) and ran across some wildlife, including a snake and a family of groundhogs. Perfect and easy to get to if youre looking for a break from the city in nature.

This is a great park in SF. While the nature trails are that (this isnt hiking folks) they give you a great variety of environments, elevations, vegetation, and more. Dog friendly too. Enough of nature to make you forget you are in San Francisco still.

Green oasis in the middle of the city. Good amount of trails for wandering. Trees, grass, flowers, woods, ahhh... I am at peace again. Come here to get away from the city rush. Feeling hungry? Walk up to Safeway shopping center, toward Glen Park, etc.

Nice park, the paths are a bit on the small side up near the walls of the canyon, but that is too be expected, not too many pepole know about this little green hideaway, and I think that those who do are getting a valuable park
