Such a shame. I have three problems with this specific theater. First, about the selection of movies and movie-watcher crowd that comes in: This theater just attracts people who have been raised in a closed-minded atmosphere and allow for a restriction on their movie choices by the powers that be at this Placerville location. None of the movies that make it to the other Regal cinemas (even those with the same number of theaters at the location or less) have these restrictions, as in other small or even major cities. Second, the types of people who come in. Are we in the deep deep South? I am of Argentinian descent and born in Seattle. That scares people here, you know, being a white Latino American with a law degree who sometimes likes to visit Placerville with my family to visit wineries and shops with a nice movie at the end of the day. I have had white supremacists and trailer-trash minded people from nearby Pollock Pines (undoubtedly the same people who live in the Gold Ridge foreclosure forest and Pony Express Trailer homes) say racist things to me and my family before, during, and after the movies that we have seen. Its just as bad as going to the Placerville Wal-Mart, which we now will never do (just look up Wal-Mart Placerville videos on Youtube. Its all the rage for those who want a good laugh and feel disgusted about the state of American culture as non-Americans see it, which is very unfortunate). The managers seemed to not care when I brought this up to them each time this had happened. Shocking. (not) Third, can you charge even more for crappy popcorn and food? Everyone talks about this popcorn like its the best meal they have ever had in the area. I guess next to their daily dose of Spaghetti-Os, Lunchables, and Shasta, that might be the case. I do not recommend this theatre. Go 20 minutes away to El Dorado Hills or Folsom where the people and atmosphere is less racist, less closed-minded, more inviting, and less trailer-like.

Horrible service today at the Placerville movies. After telling the manager more than 3 times that the sound was not working (of which me and my grandparents had to walk out, they didnt once come in to talk to the people sitting inside) we finally wanted our refund back along with everyone else in the theaters. The manager changed her story twice saying she didnt have access to control the advertisements volume and then the second time claimed something was broken. We handed the kid working the booth our tickets and he told us to walk outside to the front to get a refund. HE LOST OUR TICKETS! And then told us we could not have a refund. When he was the one who not even 20 minutes earlier sold us the tickets and we handed him our tickets! We had several witnesses to even agree they watched him grab our tickets, and the manager was right there and kept repeating that they needed out tickets as if we were the ones not understanding. Horrible customer service on the managers part for not being professional and being argumentative instead of listening to what we said. Finally got a refund after 20 minutes of arguing outside the booth and having other customers irritated with the service also and how they were treating us. Horrible way to run the only Placerville theaters, we will be driving downtown from now on with that kind of service.

The theater is pleasant. But it takes a long time to get popcorn. I suggest a test, see what happens if you specialize the staff responsibilities: Streamline how staff process refreshments might cut down the long wait in line for popcorn. Specialize the staff, one person keeping a variety of popcorn bags ready to go, one person filling the drink orders, one person getting food and candy, and one person checking. Somehow they all need to see the order, and while the checker processes the money, the others bring up the parts of the order. Two minutes and you are done.... rather than 15 or 20 minutes waiting for 6 people in line to get through the line, maybe it could be 6 to 8 minutes. And... charging 4.99 for a small bottle of water is unethical.

This is my hometown movie theater. Its clean, the staff is friendly and the theater is rarely crowded. The popcorn is uninspired packing material and, while they advertise Nathans Hot dogs, youd be more likely to win a lottery than to find a hot dog actually available for purchase. There used to be an electronic ticket kiosk. Very convenient, its a shame they discontinued this service. But I still go to Placervilles Regal. The staff is friendly and I like them a great deal. Sort of a sleepy theater.... ...good movie choices. :)

The staff is very nice. Their popcorn always smells and tastes a little burnt. Popcorn is expensive these days! I dont like not having popcorn when I am at the movies!! Regal needs to be as good or better as Cinemark or Palladio when it comes to popcorn!! I will drive all the way to Folsom for a good movie, passing two Regal theaters on my way...Placerville and El Dorado Hills......time for a change Regal!!!

this regal seems to be operated by the dreaded conservative rightwing-nuts. politically progressive movies NEVER make it here. The ones that do last for only a few days. Most of the movies are suited for CONSERVATIVE viewers that like military, horror, and fluffy disney types. This theater uses CENSORSHIP to guide the sheeply public. It is shameful in the 21 century in America! Do not support them!

Ive been going to this theater for years, and while its smaller than some out there, thats why I like it. There is much more of an intimate feel to the lobby, there are still plenty of choices, but its more a physical member of the landscape, not towering above. Theres plenty of sodas etc, and Ive never seen a line that couldnt be quickly handled by concessions.

I love supporting a local business, but the local business needs to serve their clients properly. The seats are the worst in this theater than any Ive ever been in. The armrests are material over sharp metal and the foam in the seats is totally worn. Cmon, Regal, return a little of Placervilles money and give us a nice place to go to a movie.

Being a Hispanic/Caucasian Im supporting this theater today, countering the racist review by "Ron." Not only does this theater have the "Get Out" movie just released, and my small town doesnt, I love living in and supporting the wonderful theaters in Gold Country, some of the best folks around! On my way to your show! Beep Beep

Fresh concessions, lack of staff at the concession stand, Teierren (sp) remained efficient, calm and cool working concessions alone. The theatre is clean and climate control kept us comfortable. It has not been updated with recliners and reserved seating.

This is absolutely the coldest theater around. And I dont mean coolest. You actually sit and freeze through any movie. I have complained. I have taken in blankets and everyone continues to freeze during their movie enjoyment. Not much fun.
