Im showing my age here (and whats wrong with that!). I remember the Guild from over fifty years ago. There are probably some sticky spots on the floor from that time. This is a VERY old theater and it shows its age. The seats are not comfortable, the screen is not huge, and there has never been a blockbuster shown. But this is a beloved, almost sacred, place to mid- peninsula film lovers of a certain age. (95% of the audience is grey-haired!) The films seen here are top quality, some so obscure that they play very few other places in the country. Some of the foreign films are the best films one could see but they get no media hype. Obviously, people do not come here for the amenities, but the popcorn is fantastic, those who work here are friendly and ones fellow theater-goers are so helpful that they all flock around those in wheelchairs to help them, especially to squeeze into the closet-sized bathrooms. Quite an institution.

This was a very cute theater thats a nice little twist to the regular movie/date night. Its just one movie screen and John from the snack bar comes and asks you to turn off cell phones and takes recommendations on volume and A.C levels before the movie starts. The Guild keeps it simple and makes you nostalgic for the old days. Definitely will go back.

This theatre meant a lot to me 50 years ago, and it means a lot to me now. It specializes in thoughtful, intelligent movies not geared for testosteroned teenagers. The interior is definitely retro, the staff is friendly, and the ambience funky. If you like interesting and well chosen movies, this was, is and hopefully will remain a gem.

Great theater in that it shows movies that a lot of other theaters wont. But the theater itself is definitely showing its age; its pretty run down. (The restrooms, while usable, are pretty poor.) If theres a movie that you want to see showing at the Guild, go for it! But I wouldnt recommend seeking it out.

If youre looking for megaplex "comforts" ( yikes!) such as moronic attendants, screaming rotten kids, brats that think they are all grown up, and overpriced junk food, this will not be a theater for you. If you want funky cool theater where you can watch an odd foreign film IN PEACE, this is definitely it.

Came to this theater on Thanksgiving night to see Manchester by the Sea. Excellent old school atmosphere, there are two guys running the whole operation. Ticket is not overpriced like in other places. $10. Definitely worth it.

Great little theater. I wish landmark would throw all the money these retro theaters need to really spruce them up, but alas. Also, any theater that still plays the rocky horror picture show gets five stars automatically.

Nice place and good alternative/international movies selection. Too bad they only play one movie at a time and change every ~6 weeks only. But their complement well with their partners at Aquarius theater in Palo Alto.

Old time theatre with an old time feel; little dumpy but you have to keep in mind the buildings almost a century old. Small bathroom stalls is my only complaint. Good ticket prices and good movies :)

Cute theater with an old school feel. I highly recommend going here if you enjoy the golden era feel. No frills just a nice friendly old theater.

Ambiance takes you back a few decades with a curtained screen and ornate decor. The seats arent amazingly comfortable, but just adequate.
