I saw Steely Dan here recently. The Greek Theatre has everything Im looking for: ambiance (Griffith Park wooded area), excellent acoustics and pretty much everyone has a great view of the stage no matter where you are seated. It was nice to get there through the lovely canyon of Griffith Park. You get a breath of fresh air and really feel like youve left the hustle and bustle of the city to get there, which makes the concert experience even more special. The Greek Theatre is reminscent of days when outdoor concerts were much more prevalent. The Park suroundings make this experience a special one. The acoustics were terrific. We could hear everything clearly and with high sound quality. Additionally, for those of you who are like me and dont want to be seen in public with glasses, there is a giant screen where you can see the group up close, which helps make every seat here great. I was concerned about our seats because we were on the right side of the seating area. I was afraid we wouldnt have a great view but we did. In fact, the singer wasnt totally in the center, he was off to the side so we saw him very well. Having been here, I know now that pretty much every section has a great view because the Greek Theatre is not that big. I will never again be worried about this. The shows on Friday and Saturday were different shows. We went to both and were glad we did. If you are a huge fan of a group playing here, I suggest asking whether the shows each night are different because you may be in for a treat! Finally, I purchased my tickets online. It is tempting to go through the major tickeing monster because it is the most well-known but I suggest to Yelpers to hold out and really take a good look at the other ticket sites online because not only did we find better prices, we found more availability for better seating.

The venue itself is pretty great. Thanks to two large screens that show close-ups of the performers to either side of the stage, even the rear-most seats are good vantage points (the attached picture was taken from section C, seat 120, uppermost level). You can tell the camera work is done on the fly so there are occasional hiccups when they incorrectly anticipate a performers movements, but by and large they do a great job. Parking is crazy, but of course its LA. I would recommend pre-paying for parking online. Its $5 cheaper than if you pay at the lot, AND you can use a credit card (the lots themselves are cash only). General-purpose parking ranges from $20 to $75 for "quick-park" (where it looks like they just stuff you in the VIP lot near the front of the park) I was initially worried about it being too hot as an outdoor venue, but even on 90° days it cools down to a comfortable temperature by the time the performance rolls around. I was never truly uncomfortable. Food here is rather expensive, as one would expect. Bottled water and soda is $5 and 3 chicken fingers with fries was $12, as were the loaded nachos. They also have a burger and a few clubs for similar prices. The one dish I tried was decent quality in my opinion (think like Applebees maybe). There is also a Mercedes-Benz mini-restaurant, but I have never tried that. The only reason I take off a star is the lack of seating. Once you get food, its quite a task to find someplace to sit; they dont let you start migrating to your actual seats until 30 mins before showtime, and the parking lots open 2 hours beforehand, so its quite a lot of time to be wandering around. Youll see a lot of people sitting on the walls near the gardens. Overall, great venue with decent food and parking. Expand the corral and some more seating though!

I am in love with this beautiful venue! I attended the Above and Beyonds Acoustic concert this past weekend and I was completely blown away by the entire experience at the Greek Theatre! Since the show started at 8pm, my bf and I arrived about 1 hr early and we were able to find free parking with a disability placard. They have several curbside spots open reserved for people with disability placards and once that fills up you are forced to park inside the lots for $15- $20. With our electronic tickets, going through security was a breeze. They have a very efficient process in checking purses, etc, so there was no build up or lines to wait in to get in. Restroom and food vendors were all clearly indicated inside the theater and we had no problems finding our way around. About 5 minutes before the show we were directed to our section and found our seats easily. I bought tickets in Section A Row D and I was surprised as to how close we were to the stage! I even bought binoculars because I was afraid I wouldnt be able to see and I didnt even use them at all throughout the concert. But for those who do have further seats, theres two big screens on either side of the stage which focuses on the performers so binoculars really arent necessary at all. The sound system was crisp and loud but not obnoxiously loud where it would hurt our ears so those sitting near the speakers rest assured that you dont have to worry about going deaf after a concert. The backdrop of the tall trees and beautiful lightning at night surrounding the theater made the venue feel so serene, and since I was at an acoustic concert it fit in very nicely with the venue. At one point they even had confetti blowing over the audience during a song which got everyone really excited!

the greek theater sets your expectations low for the venue with shitty parking. i arrived late at the sheryl crow concert due to traffic (whats new?) and as a result a lot of the non-stacked parking were filled, so i was forced to park in lot b. for $15 i had to drive up a hill (with manual trans, eep), go down a hill, and ruin a bunch of park grass along the way. the parking situation was just a mess. to sum up the different parking options: 1) stacked parking: $15. youre pretty much forced to stay until the concert is over. you save $5 from non-stacked parking. i was lucky i was parked near the exit so i didnt have to wait for all the drunk people to slowly stumble back to their car. 2) non-stacked parking: $20. you can leave whenever, so if sheryl crow & band arent cutting it, you can gtfo. both parking options are equally expensive. and once you enter youre greeted by a full bar, i see why they did that, so you can forget all the parking hell you just went through for a good 20 minutes. then as you walk towards the theater youre greeted by the concession stand. and alas, finally you see the theater. overall i enjoy the intimate venue. our seats were in section c but we didnt feel like they were nose-bleed seats. i think most of the seats in the theater gave pretty good views of the stage. i also love the outdoor theater, nice on a warm summer day. so you see how i was able to set my expectations for the greek theater low with shitty parking and everything just better after i had a margarita and a giant pretzel in my hands, all collected en route to my seat :)
