My wife and I got married here last fall and for the most part it went ok. The food was alright and a bit on the skimpy side. They were very stingy with the appetizers we had to pay extra for. Their bar drinks are extremely overpriced($8 to $10 for a beer?) They screwed up and neglected to tell us that soft drinks/tea/coffee were not included in their menu price, despite giving us documents that said the menu price includes such things(on the bottom of the menu selections). It was quite embarrassing to find out the day after the wedding that all of our guests were charged for all of their non-alcoholic drinks. It definitely made us look cheap when we wouldve gladly paid the extra amount so people wouldnt have payed like $3.50 for a Coke or Iced-Tea.. So, we called after our honeymoon to find out why our guests were charged and they simply said something to the effect of "oh sorry, thats the old menu pricing and not how we price it now. You got the wrong sheet and it shouldnt have said that. Let me talk to my manager and Ill get back to you to see what we can do." Well, lets just say that she did nothing. No call back or email like promised. "I will definitely get back to you!" Nothing. This way overpriced affair did have a romantic setting with so-so food and extremely expensive drinks. The wedding chapel was nice and the view is awesome. But, my assessment is that the wedding coordinator was quite flaky(stating to one of my guests "I hate weddings") with the manager being somewhat rude by starting to break down the tables before our time was up. If we could do it all over again our wedding wouldve taken place somewhere else for much much less money.

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!!! Took my wife there for our 3yr anniversary which I was able to get a few days off from the base to fly down for. Decided to take my wife to a place that was said to be "the best" in the area.......FAR FROM IT!!! In the hour and 25min that we were there, the only thing that we were served was a glass of wine for my wife, a beer for myself and a appetizer that the waiter said would be able to be shared easily between us......it was 1 dame ravioli smaller then the width of the fork we used to eat it. Complete and utter BS from this place, even after expressing my disappointment in the service to the waiter, he didnt even offer some sort of discount or anything. Being well prepared to pay up too $500 for the night, I decided to take my wife down the street to a steak restaurant, 555 Steak House. That place was perfect!!!! They had delicious bottles of wine that my wife was able to pair with her food, excellent bottles of beer I was able to pair with my steak!!!! Should have gone to 555 Steak House from the beginning. After everything was said and done, we only were there for a total of 1hr and 15min, ate till we couldnt eat anymore, had PLENTY DELICOUS DRINKS & great service from the waitress all for about $200....would have been ok if the bill was even $400, the experience and atmosphere was well worth it. Next time I get to fly home, Im taking my wife out on a date to 555 Steak House! Screw you SkyRoom

The Sky Room should be on everyones to do list. The restaurant is beautiful set, sophisticated, elegant, and will capture endless memories. This one of my favorite restaurants in Long Beach. Many people know this place as the "Historic Room in the Sky", "Historic Hilton", etc. Parking can be a bit tough, so just fork over a few bucks for valet. Once you walk in, you must take the elevator to the top floor. Its old school, meaning theres an elevator operator who escorts you to the top where the restaurant is. I originally took a date here, made reservations through opentable and requested a city view but cant wait to go back and request an ocean view. The atmosphere was beautiful and more than I expected. It was perfect to bring a date because of the romantic setting. The setting makes you and that special someone feel classy. There was also a live band, for little dancing if you chose to. The server was polite, attentive, and really made the night. Being it was our first time, he provided us suggestions on what he liked, fan favorites, but also ensured our tastes were satisfied. As far as food, I chose scalloped mash potatoes, while my date went with the filet & asparagus. Both dishes were beautifully presented but most of all cooked perfectly. It can get a little on the pricey side, so whenever restaurant week comes around, I highly recommend you take advantage of the pre-fixe menu. I will be back soon.

I added my photos last night. These are as important as the review because the soul of this place radiates from the old Hollywood deco style and the panoramic ocean views. The service is the weakest link here but its worth tolerating. Ill get back to that. The food was good to excellent throughout with the entrees being truly excellent. I had the snapper. It was out of this world. The appetizers were also good. Its hard to screw up truffle fries and theirs are delicious. The apple crisp was the best desert but we sampled all of them and there really arent any bad ones. The band started after dinner and they were fantastic, including a horn section and an accordion - just wow! The people watching here is off the charts with a really mixed crowd that is not at all shy about being scene. They were not adequately staffed. The service seemed both formal and poor but everything arrived correctly and on time so it wasnt a disaster. This is a unique place that you really have to visit. Well worth it. Edit: Joe passed away recently. We all remember that night with him at The Sky Room as one of his happiest.

It was a surprise annivalentines dinner by my bf :) We were here on 2/13 for a 7pm reservation. We were seated within 8 minutes upon arrival. We had a window seat. View of the city which was amazing. FOOD: We ordered stuffed calamari, Colorado Rack of Lamb and Durham Ranch Bison Short Rib. They were all amazingly delicious. Very tender and cooked to perfection. SERVICE: This restaurant supposed to be at par with all the fancy high end restaurants. I think they are with their food. However, their service was a very big disappointment. Waiter wasnt attentive. We had to ask for butter for the bread they served. It took a while for them to take our order. Since it was our first time, the waiter didnt explain their menu or any specials they have. It seemed that our waiter was a newbie and doesnt have any idea of the food they serve. I expect that with this type of restaurant, their servers undergo rigorous training. Maybe I just expected too much. Anyway, their food was excellent, as well as the view. They are really expensive though. I still recommend people to try it out.

We held a corporate event in the Empire Ballroom at The Sky Room. Dont waste your time or money. Totally unorganized. Not fit for corporate events. Clueless events manager. Dirty venue (had to ask for window sills to be cleaned and gum stuck to the floor). Lack of oversight (food and bar were not ready to go at set event time). Lack of staff onsite (had us come up through back stairs and then we had to ask for a rolled up carpet and ladders to be put away...they said "its heavy" so our team moved them). This is a very tired venue in sore need for updating both in its appearance and in its food. The food lacked flavor and was in minuscule quantities for what we paid. The catering chef needs to learn how to cut cheese into proper cube sizes as they were larger than massive ice cubes (at least 3-4 bites worth in a huge cube). No utensils were put out even though needed (totally unsanitary). And I could go on and on. Hold your corporate event elsewhere. If I could say no stars on this review I would. Save your time, money and aggravation and seek out better venues.
