Bear River Casino Resort is a nice addition to the area. The location is atop a hill with a breathtaking panoramic view of the river valley. The all non-smoking hotel is nice with spacious rooms and all the usual amenities. The parking for the hotel is limited under the hotel and you can use the casino parking but you may have to park some distance from the hotel entrance. I recommend valet, its free! The hotel is currently renovating its rooms even though the hotel is less than 7 years old. Other amenities include and on-site restaurant open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. They have a small bar next to the restaurant as well. There is a small indoor heated pool which can be crowded on the weekend. Adults I recommend asking the front desk for a day pass to the brand new state of the art recreation center. Located across the street from the hotel. They have a gym, and sauna and its very nice. There is a casino as well that is open 24/7 with slots and table games. There is another bar inside the casino and a cafe that is open from 10am until late (2:30am I think). I prefer to order food from here and take it back to my room. Its reasonably priced and they have a good variety of food on their menu. They also have a pump and play gas station and slots for 18 and over in a non smoking environment. Between the three casinos in the area I like Bear River Casino Resort the best. They have a good selection of slots and the atmosphere is relaxed and much nicer than the other casinos in the area. The hotel staff and casino staff (expecially Ana) are super friendly and helpful. Its not a five star resort, but for Humboldt County, its definitely 5 stars and I cant wait to stay in one of their renovated rooms. **Update 4.16.17** I stayed in one of their newly renovated rooms. THe rooms are nicely upgraded but there are still some things that need to be worked out with the Hotel and the General Contractor. Water pressure in the shower was pitiful and the temperature didnt go above luke warm. And the connecting doors between rooms has no insulation so I could hear everything (and I mean everything) going on in the room next door. Ended up stuffing one if the bed runners under the door.

It hits you when you first walk in the door of the hotel. Powerful and offensive cigarette odor. The casino overall is small which is something I prefer over a mega-casino. However, security is nearly non-existent and the casino allows low-lifes in wife beater shirts to sit idly by pretending to play a machine while they eye people up and down. Non-gamblers need to be tossed. The lack of proper ventilation and AC makes this a truly awful experience. I am not going to elaborate on what I witnessed in the parking garage but needless to say I felt unsafe there. No security gates or personnel that I saw in three days. The rooms are non-smoking and I did not smell smoke in our near my room. The room was an average 2 star hotel. Carpet and tile clean. Linen clean. The amenities are below average, for instance coffee served with powdered creamer in the lobby. That seems little but it is a fair assessment of an operation that cuts corners. I got up this morning to go to the limited workout facility. The sign said 6am open but the door was locked. I went to the front desk to inquire and was told rather surly that it opened at 7. The sign said 6 I stated. With an attitude, an eye roll and a sigh she called a maintenance guy to let me in. That guy was nice. They have a 24-hour snack restaurant which is run very-half ass and is expensive for what it is. I did have dinner at the non-smoking bar outside the restaurant one night. The bartender and food were good. I had expectations of a fun time at a small casino while I was here on business but to many things wrong here and I will not be back.

This is a real review. Some heartfelt stuff. I have never been to a casino that amazing. I just moved here from Carson City, Nevada. Yes Reno has its hot spots, and Vegas is OK, but where are the staff that remember you, the people that see you and know what your having to drink. The slot machines are phenomenal. Cher-ae Heights has 2 Colossal Reels machines. BRC has 4 of those puppies. Try them!!! Not only fun to play but fun to win. The floor servers are great. Always a smile. I take my family here when we want to relax. It is isnt old and outdated like Blue Lake. Its vibrant. I hope you guys do get a little bit bigger Lounge area for karaoke, but the casino is spot on. Loose slots too! Thank you for maintaining such a nice place. This review is made by someone who visits every day to every other day. SO take the tip! And enjoy the Sunday brunch too!!!!!

My wife and i thought the rooms were very comfortable. The hotel staff (Christine?) was very helpful and accommodating. The view of the Eel River going in to the Ocean was really great. Food at the restaurant was good, service was too. Casino was Smokey, we don’t smoke, i guess it bothered my wife more then I. we don’t really gamble anyways. Hotel had a small gym and pool as well as a restaurant, bar, room service, casino and valet parking. Amenities youd normally expect from a large scale resort, but without having to float the bill of a large scale resort. The beds were really comfortable i will be coming back to Humboldt soon and more then likely will stay here again. Polite and helpful staff, clean, comfortable, and reasonably priced would be my best description.

Weve had several disappointing experiences at Rivers Edge restaurant. From food not prepared as described on the menu to rude waitstaff. The waitstaff is amazing usually, with the exception of one or two who seemed better suited for a high volume burger shop. Last night we both had undercooked food at lukewarm temperatures. What was brought back to our table as replacements was little better. The food is fair to good for the most part. If you eat there be prepared for items not quite as described (beer bettered tempura shrimp? Condiments not provided as listed, no lemon or cocktail forks with oysters, etc)
