I attended an event here back in August & was told I, and a guest, could receive free admission on a future visit with advance reservations. My review covers most of whats to see at the Hollywood Museum -except for the reason I wanted to visit this time..............The Chamber of Horrors in the basement DUH DUH DUH!! The Chamber of Horrors is a mini-LACMA for the horror movie buff. Props, wardrobe & other movie memorabilia from classic & not so classic movies are on display. Even stuff from PG-13 movies that are not even close to being scary, like the Mummy movies (Brendan Fraser-era) & the Indiana Jones saga. What did my eyes spy? The Holy Grail from "Indiana Jones & the Last Crusade"? Holy crap! I had to strongly resist the urge to grab the cup, fill it with some Smartwater & quench my thirst. I sure could use the physical & spiritual healing that Sean Connery received in the movie. Alas, not meant to be :( Other cool things I saw were an Elvira mannequin (Her boobs are just as impressive today as they were yesteryear), Freddy Kreuger & Jason Voorhees mannequins, a cell dedicated to "The Walking Dead" & the cell with a Hannibal Lecter mannequin that looks exactly like a snapshot from "The Silence of the Lambs". Okay, okay. Ill admit it. A part of me felt like something, or someone, would jump out at me like the mazes at Knotts Scary Farm. Hey, Im secure with myself to confess it. I kept my guard up, just in case, but nothing happened. Whew! Also, I had another chance to view the Marilyn Monroe exhibit on the 2nd floor, which Im glad I did before it bid adieu. Shes such a complex person. I dont think she was an airhead, at all. Shes an onion. Onions have layers (Shrek reference, Yes!). My favorites of the exhibit were the prominently displayed framed Playboy pics. Theyre striking & beautiful. Not trashy at all. Im a fan of nude art/photography & what better subject than the incomparable Marilyn Monroe. I also experienced goosebumps when viewing her last pics before she tragically passed away way too soon. She showed the signs of Father Time passing by, as we all do, but she still was a beauty nonetheless. Probably moreso, like fine wine, ripening to a vintage that only her glamorous & globe-trekking life as an entertainer, could provide. Goodbye, Norma Jean. I enjoyed my second visit to the Hollywood Museum. I recommend checking it out for people who love show business & the Chamber of Horrors for horror fans. Dont pass this treasure up! Excelsior

OVERVIEW - 5 Came here a little while back, it was an amazing museum to go to kill a little time, and to be a typical tourist. In all honestly, the main reason I came was because Im a huge Planet of the Apes Fan, and this place is like a Mecca with movie memorabilia from the movie. LOCATION - 5 It has a fantastic location right off of Hollywood Boulevard, which is a nice off road fro heavy traffic. PRICE - 5 To be honest, I dont remember the price, but I remember it wasnt outlandish, and was reasonable. PRODUCT/SERVICE - 5 This place has it all for movie memorabilia all in one museum, from television shows, to classic movies, and even modern movies POINTERS/PERKS - 5 Im not a local to Hollywood, nor California, so I dont have much to contribute here, but I think it is safe to say, dont touch, unless there are signs indicating to the contrary... EMPLOYEES - 5 The only employee I recall seeing was the woman and the front entrance taking money and giving tickets to enter. She was rather friendly and chatted about some of the attractions.

The whole idea of the Hollywood Museum is good, in that theyre trying to showcase many treasures from the movies. Theyve achieved this for some old classics, but there was a real lack of anything new or relevant to younger people. Im currently 30, and at least 2/3 of the museum was showcasing movies that I hadnt even heard of. It was interesting to see the movies that I was knowledgeable of, but when youre considering the cost to see this small portion of the museum, its a bit hard to recommend. However, its probably worth it if youre 40+ years old, or if you like classic black and white movies.

Only a short walk away from the hustle and bustle of Hollywood Boulevard. Really worth a visit something for everyone in your group. Really admire how the building has been renovated back to how it is. Every make up artist should visit you will not be disappointed. Make up, glitter and gore! Apprentice Mels Diner that is next door used to be part of the make up business and the basement a speak easy, back in the day. Thank you for saving the make up collection!

I think the previous reviewer has been very harsh on the Museum. There are constantly changing exhibitions that are to be seen here. The Lucille Ball exhibition, was in 2011. There is a large focus on the Golden Age of Hollywood, yes thats true. Where else can you see a pair of " Ruby Slippers " Form the Wizard Of Oz in Hollywood ? I was in LA in 2013 and saw the Marilyn Monroe exhibition. Brilliant. Well worth the $15.00 entrance.

If you love Lucille Ball youll love this place. If you dont love Lucille Ball this museum is a waste of time and money. I saw a few things that intrigued me but most is from the golden age of hollywood. You can see better stuff at Planet Hollywood, it doesnt cost anything, and you dont have to deal with the snotty woman that works at the museum. The wax museum around the corner is more interesting than this place.

The Hollywood Museum used to be all about the old Hollywood. I just went and found an entire floor (25% of the entire museum) is now dedicated to the sexual habits of actors and characters. Specifically, same-sex habits. The whole space is a massive glorification of homosexuality, with gay-pride propaganda, "progressive" agenda displays and rainbows everywhere. Enough, already!

The wax museum is only that. this museum is fabulous, The real old Hollywood! Lucy is only in one place. Tony Curtis hand painted the skylight in the huge fright elevator with a flat screen T.V.Chicago was playing when I went up last year & other clips, and goes to the 4th floor start at the top you will not be disappointed the place is grand. I Love It am going back this week!
