We have been going to this store for over 2 years and we are in there at least once a week spending a little money each time. Today when we went, we were trying to talk to the owner about a fish we bought from him that died. He kept putting us off, telling us to wait. Then he would leave us standing there and he would never return. We had to keep hunting him down only to be left standing there again. The staff are all very nice and polite which is why we keep coming back, but the owner was very rude. Finally we saw him go outside with a customer and he was chatting it up for 15 minutes while we waited some more. When he was done, we asked him once more about our fish and asked why we were being avoided. He stated in front of everybody that "the customer I was helping had spent over $5000 this week so thats why she was getting such good customer service. I have $6000 a month in bills." Now, I understand that you should treat your customers right, but to blatantly ignore some customers in order to follow just one around ther store is stupid. Not everybody is so fortunate as to spend $5000 in one week in a fish store. But if it werent for the return customers, he would be out of business. And in our 2 years of going there, we have easily spent $5000. I dont appreciate being talked down to because I dont spend big money all at once and I dont like being ignored for almost 2 hours. Everybody has bills. Thats no excuse. I have bills and yet I manage to still spend money there every single week. Had his fish not been sick when I bought him, I wouldnt have had to return him dead. As I was saying, the staff are knowelegable and friendly. But the owner is rude when it comes to taking returns.

I really want to like this place and give it 5 stars, but I cant. It is close to being amazing, but falls short in a lot of ways. The good: Their fish stock is healthy and well kept. The bad: Their selection of dry goods, tools, and tank suppliments is disorganized, severely lacking and always bought out (and has been for weeks). It is kinda ridiculous to have to go to the Petsmart next door to pick up something they dont have. I would much rather give my money to a local business, but instead Im buying things like food, fine airstones, and bacterial suppliments online and at franchise stores. Their coral selection is similarly lackluster - it is WAY overpriced compared to the other shops I frequented before I moved here from Colorado, not a lot of diversity in selection, and a good chunk look sick, dying, or have more than half a frag dead. Really common things like fruitloop zoas, hammer, and frog spawns are nowhere to be found. These guys are also addicted to using actinic lighting for EVERYTHING saltwater. This makes getting good looking inverts hard or getting a good look at fish theyve put in the smaller holding tanks.

A bit far of a drive for anyone coming from the South Bay, but Aquarium Concepts had one of the largest selections Ive seen in the Bay Area in one of the largest spaces Ive seen. Prices looked not bad when I went to pick up some Black Foot Trochus Snails. At the time I was there it was about $3.99 per or 10 for $3.49 each and 20 for $2.99 each. I believe other places sell them for around $3.49+ each so this was definitely in line with other LFS. They have an excellent collection of fish and inverts that you might not find at other stores though and they also have a fairly large dry goods section and stock some of the harder-to find items like light fixtures (I saw they had the RapidLED Onyx fixtures). If youre in the Dublin area and are looking for a place with a good balance between livestock and dry goods, Aquarium Concepts pretty much has you covered. I also only had limited interaction with the staff but they seem nice enough.

I went to this store today to purchase an all new aquarium set-up and assumed Id have to pick everything on my own; I came armed with knowledge. However, much to my surprise we were helped almost instantly by a wonderful employee (ask for Ed!) who had oodles of info and was able to help me find the best tank for my buck. Not only did he explain the ammonia/nitrite/nitrate cycle and how to best get it going but he also helped me pick the best rocks, plants and other accessories I needed so that Id have a well rounded system. I couldnt have asked for a more enthusiastic or knowledgeable salesman! This place really seemed to have a huge selection of salt/freshwater flora and fauna and all the equipment needed to keep them alive. Ill highly recommend this place to my friends and neighbors as they fully won me over on my first visit!

Hands down the best store I have ever been in, as a newcomer to reef tanks I had lots of questions and they had all the answers, extremely knowledgeable people working here, and if you ask some one something they are unsure about they will find another employee that knows. As a newcomer to reef tanks they have helped me every step of the way and showing me step by step what I needed to do and what I needed. If people are concerned about the prices then be my guest to go to another store for fish, but take one look at their stock vs other stores, all the fish are happy and healthy, you wouldnt buy a dieing cat as a pet because it was cheaper would you? Same goes for fish!

The service at this store is hit or miss. They have a few good people that know there stuff and are willing to help. Most of the time they all seem too busy or just say they dont know anything about what you are asking about. You would think that if if they dont know what you are asking about that they would try to get you someone that does but they dont. Wish there were more places in tri-valley area to choose from.

This store has it all - helpful, knowledgeable, friendly staff, beautiful fish of every variety and species (saltwater, freshwater, pond, and brackish) amazing display tanks, aquariums of all sizes for sale (and I mean ALL sizes), everything you could possibly need in the way of equipment, even invertebrates, pre-cured live rock, and many varieties of coral! Highly reccomended!

This was a very nice store with a great selection of corals and live rock. The fish selection was a bit sparse the day I visited - very heavy on the clown fish, which, Im assuming was for animated movie releases perhaps - but it wasnt disappointing. It was a beautiful store to walk around in regarding the saltwater selection.

The first I went to aqaurium concepts the experiance was amazing! Ever since then i have been going back almost monthly to purchase things for may aquariums. Recently though i have noticed that the employs are lacking enthusiasm that i first saw and fell in love with. I love this place non the less.

Poor customer service, fish are mislabeled , 24 hr No live guarantee on their livestock, no good coral selection either just plain vanilla and chocolate. And Ken the owner is never their so I dont see this store improving bud in a downward spiral to bad service.
