I visited this place in late November 2013 and got there early about 30 min early as usual to warm up on the putting greens, however we were informed they were backed up about 5 min when we checked in--which ended up 30 min by the time we teed off. They said that a group in front of us that was supposed to have 5 ended up having 7 instead. So they let them go and made us pay for it by teeing off late. I give the staff at this place 1 star. I read the reviews, and they mentioned a rude staff. I should have listened and played elsewhere. Before we teed off, we waited for a long time at the inside bar for a drink, then someone (who was behind the bar ignoring us for awhile) asked if we had been helped yet. We said "no", then she apologized and said she wouldnt be able to do anything for us. Aggravation was growing, and we hadnt even teed off. Finally they let us off, and the front 9 was average. Course was in decent shape, however play was slow and frustration continued to grow. We eventually reached the back, which was beautiful and nothing like the front. The only issue I had with the back is that it was dark by the time we hit #17, so the last 2 holes was a guessing game where the ball went. (If we would have teed off on time, wouldnt have been an issue!) This place seems to cater to its "members" at the expense of people that are out playing for the day...which is fine to an extent, but dont make it so obvious that you dont care. The only reason I gave this place 2 stars is because of the back nine. This is what I found most interesting: the very first sentence on the website states "...its constant strive to provide excellent service." You guys have a long, long way to go. I wont be back and wont recommend this place to anyone.

I have typically enjoyed playing at this course but Im not sure Ill play here ever again. The layout of the course is fun (especially the back nine). Course conditions are typically average and very poor in the summer. The rough is rarely mowed during the summer and we were told would be "thicker" (one-two clubs extra). It was nice to have a heads up for not keeping it mowed. On hole 15 I left my putter cover at the green. I called the pro-shop to let them so since the distance between 15 and 16 was enough where I didnt want to hold up the groups behind us. The guy in the pro shop couldnt have cared any less. A decent golf course would have a ranger out on the course but not here... when we finished I asked the ranger if I could go back and look for it and he told me no. I gave him that "are you serious" look and he said it was too far to go out there. In other words, he didnt want to do his job. I was courteous and nice while on the course but my putter cover never turned up. This was very infuriating. The staff here think they are working at a five star course but they are deserving of zero stars. The course layout earns two stars here. Needless to say, I wont be coming back. Good riddance.

ARE YOU SERIOUS!!?? WORST PLACE EVER!! My husband and father-in-law (from out of town) went to go golfing. after they drove the 30 min to get there they turned them away cause they were wearing jeans. (the guys on the phone specificaly said to wear collar shirts, nothing about jeans or dress pants). after they drove back home, my husbands account showed that he was being charged the $150 that it costs there to golf. so he called them and they said they have written down that the guy on the phone said he told them about no jeans and even tho they didnt play they have a 24 hour cancelation fee, no refunds. my husband then asks them if they have the phone call recorded and they said no, so pretty much since your employee wrote down that he told me even tho he didnt theres nothing i can do and im pretty much screwed...and they said yup! so he went down to the bank to dispute the amount and after a couple months the bank ended up ruling in the golfs favor...why? i dont know, so we pretty much lost $150 for nothing!! this place is a joke, they dont act preofessinally, and will get you for every penny your have.... so make sure you record your calls with them...

Worst experience Ive ever had on a golf course! Had 3 messages from pro shop before 4th hole that we were playing too slow. There was no one in front of us and no one behind us. It was 2 oclock in the afternoon and we paid for a second round of golf and werent in a hurry. I was 3 over on the first 5 holes and not intentionly taking my time. The ranger came out and told us that we could either move to the 8th hole or get a refund. We were a 2some and apperantly we were playing at the rate of a foursome. Supposedly we were supposed to play 18 in 2.1 hrs. Chad Brown was the manager in the pro shop and treated us with the utmost disrespect when we asked him why we should be in such a hurry. He refunded our money and yelled at us as we walked out the door. Never have I experienced such a rude and disrespectful golf pro/manager in my life. Hopefully management will read this and get rid of this guy before he runs too many people off such a nice course. No paying customer should ever have to deal with people like this.

I was pretty skeptical of this course after reading the reviews, even though I know I shouldnt trust online reviews, as they are far from accurate in most cases. This course was fantastic! From the moment we checked in, to the moment we pulled in at the end of our round, we were treated with nothing but respect. Yes, they want you to keep on pace....if you cant make it through a round in 4 hrs 20 mins, I suggest that you stick to the executive courses. The layout is fantastic. The scenery is fantastic. And the course itself was fantastic. My next winter trip to Mesa will absolutely include another outing at Johnson Ranch!

The restaurant is so pleasant to eat at- on the patio. It would be nicer if it were cleaner, landscape cleaned up. The HOA should send them a letter about their weeds! The service is somewhat to be desired. I ordered an ice tea. She said sorry "no straws." I asked for sweetner. Then when I placed my order I asked for a spoon to stir the sweetner in my tea. She didnt check on us. She didnt take our plates, and we never saw her again until we got the check. She said she was trying to wake up and recover from the morning. Terrible service mediocre food. It could be so great. So much potential. And we were the ONLY ones on the patio!

Absolutely horrible. First time Ive ever experienced being charged for our 4th player not showing up due to an injury. The course was not busy at all. I did however get a raincheck to play, but after playing off dirt on every single fairway my friends and I have decided we probably will never use the raincheck or golf this course again. The course is in horrible condition. Ive played 4 other courses this past week that are in mint condition. I mean the course is so bad I wouldnt even play it if they were giving free rounds. I just wish I would have known the condition of it before making the drive down there.
