My family and I came here for the final play of the season known as "The Miracle Worker". Its about the little girl was born both blind and deaf meeting a young woman who became her teacher, and truest friend. Before the play and before exploring the buildings that made up Helen Kellers home, I barely knew anything about her. During, and after the play, I realized how important the people of the Keller family were in starting in a new chapter of Helen Kellers life, especially after coming out of her shell. However, the teacher who succeed in bringing Helen "to life", Anne Sullivan, is just as much an inspiration. The play touched upon Annes past with flashbacks of her painful early years living with her brother and afterwards when completing her schooling. It is a place to visit when the play is being done. There, youll catch a glimpse what started the life of Helen Kellers.

This was nothing like we pictured in our minds after seeing "the Miracle Worker" all our lives. Well worth the visit and education. Tour guides were very sweet but continued historic myths that they really need to take out of their dialog eg: fire screens to keep ladies wax make up form melting and mens handlebar mustaches wax and petticoat mirror. Also they had a pair of shoemaker or tailor scissors that they called sheep shears...not. But, to see the real place with so much of the original family pieces, to see the pump, the other cottage and to hear Helen Keller speak was worth the antiquated information recited by the guides.

This place is a really nice little piece of inspirational history in north Alabama. We were in the area visiting family when I found this little gem. The staff is super friendly and helpful. We were there in the month of June and that is the month they have the outdoor play about the life of Helen, the month of her birth. The grounds are clean and there are plenty of places to sit for those who have a hard time standing and walking . the tour is also a good history lesson walking the grounds and seeing the well where she said her first words. We look for history every where we go and this was a nice stop for us.

This was a great experience. First you tour Ivy Green, Hellen Kellers home. Next is The Miracle Worker, a great play about Hellen Keller that has been going strong for 30 plus years. Every Friday and Saturday night you can join others enjoying the play. The play last approximately 2 1/2 hours and is located outside in the rear of Ivy Green. Parking is free! They serve hot dogs, chips and cheese, popcorn, sweets and drinks. The restrooms are next to the concession stand and the play has handicap areas close to the stage. Just an enjoyable evening. I would highly recommend it!

I loved this museum. The tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and was very friendly. Admission is very reasonable and was worth every penny. There is the main house, the guest house where Helen Keller was born, the water pump is in the back, and there is also an ice house and a kitchen building in the back. This is the site of the Miracle Worker play during the summer which is fantastic. I would recommend this as a tourist destination in the Shoals Area.

We made a special trip to Tuscumbia to see the play "The Miracle Worker" the story of Helen Keller and Annie Sullivan. We were delighted with the awesome performance of all the actors who perform this play for 6 weeks each summer from mid- June through mid July. It was very well done on an open air stage, with inexpensive refreshments offered before and at an intermission. We got to tour the grounds before the performance. Definitely worth the trip!

The tour guides were awesome. Two ladies that are the definition of southern charm. The tour is short and sweet. The ladies were more than happy to answer any questions and were very knowledgeable on the Keller family and estate. The grounds are very well kept. Great tour for the kids of any age.

Beautiful grounds and well maintained. The tour guides were informative but kind enough to shorten the tour because of our young children. Later when we went back with a couple of questions they were more than happy to answer them for us. Fun to learn little tidbits we didnt know before going.

This was a must see and the people running this place made it worth the trip. They are so passionate about her and teaching everyone about her story. Go in June and get tickets for the play! Its the highlight of the year for this place and the gardens and vegetation is truly Ivy "Green".

Giving one star only because the woman that does the tours was a bit rude. We were on a field trip with my sons school and had a few questions we needed to ask and she was rude and unpleasant. Otherwise it is a beautiful place and an educational treat.

The house was more beautiful than I imagined! I actually teared up a little. I teach sign language and have a Helen Keller unit. I cant wait to share all the photos with my students. I highly recommend this for everyone. Sorry I missed the play.

I was there this weekend with my eight-year-old daughter. The two women working there were both friendly and informative and really seemed to like kids. House and grounds are interesting of course and our visit was a very good experience.

Wonderful place to visit. Admission price to Ivy Green is reasonable and even though it is a small location, the history is amazing. We really enjoy seeing and hearing about the events that unfolded here which changed Helen Kellers life.
