Great museum to visit! Staff was friendly and the ticket prices are worth it. 2 museums are both fun and they are connected!! Natural History Museum is a very good place for kids to run around and learn about different things. Art Museum right now has a great interactive exhibit called "Gardens of Eden" that is also great for kids. Art I would recommend for older children and adults. Recommended for ages 6 and up so they can understand the different displays. Went here and learned a lot. So much to see! Recommend getting a membership if you live in the area, great deal, 4 museums all in one! Loved this place, definite recommend!

Went there in December 2015 as a lone ranger. Its completely in an indoor setting, thus can be visited in any weather. Spread out across 3 floors, its simply brilliant. There are so many things to see, from ancient architectural masterpiece to geological beauties. From the pre-historic magnificence to the marvel of multiple civilizations. There are some theatres serving infotainment too. One must visit this place if in Pittsburgh. Can be clubbed with a visit to Carnegie Museum of Art, Carnegie Library fo Pittsburgh, Carnegie Mellon University and Cathedral of Learning as they are walking distance apart.

The rock collection is pretty, the big taxidermies are impressive, the hall of birds sure is long. But the crown jewel of the Carnegie Natural History Musuem is the dinosaurs. Carnegie funded enough digs to acquire some nice skeletons, including two adult T Rexes and a juvenile, plus triceratops, cool proto-birds, etc. Youve seen dinosaurs. Bring your kids and dont tell them that (coincidentally) EVERY prehistoric plant in the underbrush of the Cretaceous exhibit is alive today and also psychoactive.

We went there around 4pm so the prices would be 50% off as $20 per person are quite pricy. If you really want to enjoy the museum and see both art and natural history you better go there earlier because one hour will surely not suffice to see everything. In the end we had to hurry through the natural history section which was pretty sad. Id go there again and plan a little more time.

This place is amazing. Plan on a few hours so you can take your time. Google is wrong when it says "people usually spend up to 1.5 hours here". Plan on way longer especially if you like to read about the artifacts and take your time. We missed a couple sections because they close at 5, which in my opinion is a little too early. Otherwise, great experience for the price point.

Great T-Rex Display Very nice museum. Great dinosaur bones. Very friendly staff. The cafe was a nice bonus for lunch. The displays and the story boards didnt always match and were a bit confusing. Finding a bathroom on the top floor was a mystery and the guy on staff was clueless. Easy access and ample parking. A dancing fountain would be a nice water feature.

Get the membership and come back again & again! There is so much to see and you wont see it all in one day (or if you do, youll be exhausted). We are a young family and use our membership for regular trips to the science & natural history museums with the kids (on weekdays when it isnt as crowded) and the art & Warhol make a great date night.

A gem in the heart of Oakland. In one building you have incredible art (their permanent collection is very impressive and the contemporary collections range from spectacular to just plain mind blowing), big huge dinosaur bones, tons of stuffed dead animals, AND the main branch of the national Carnegie Public Library. Make an afternoon of it!

One of my favorite places in Pittsburgh to relax and visit. It has changed several times over years and they are always adding new exhibits and experiences. The dinosaur exhibit is a little dated, but they have new art exhibits and the gemstone exhibit is always a beautiful experience. I always take my friends here when they visit Pittsburgh.

“Fantastic!” Spent an afternoon at the museum, hardly enough. Phenomenal permanent exhibits. The dinosaur exhibit blew our minds away. My wife and daughter had an opportunity to go to another wing to see an exhibit on women in the arts while the rest of the group hung out at the large American fauna exhibit and they really enjoyed it.

We enjoyed the gemstones and minerals the most out of all of the exhibits. The pricing (even for a membership) does make it less appealing, especially since the Smithsonian museums are reasonably located for a weekend trip. We went on a free day and it wasnt too packed, so keep your eye on the calendar for free admission days!

This is one of the best museums. Its got a mix of old and new. Im not talking about the exhibits, Im talking about how the museum as really old school displays that are about as old as museums go and then they have some really state of the art exhibits. Theres really no limit to what you can learn at this facility.

Absolutely fantastic place! Ive been to many museums from the Smithsonian in DC to the Louvre in Paris. This is up there with both of them. The art and natural history collections here are amazing. You can spend hours at a time in here and still find something each time you go back. Highly recommended for anyone!

Decent museum. Good dinosaur display. Nice dioramas. Ticket prices were expensive. Lots of extra they wanted to add on for special exhibits and shows. Pushy admissions personnel to buy the extras, membership, and make a charitable contribution. $20 for adults. $12 for 3-18. Expensive for what they offer.

This was a really wonderful getaway for our family while we were temporarily transplanted to the area. We spent many a Saturday here and had a great time. There were things of interest for my hubby and I, obviously, but there were activities for our 1 year old son to take part in, too.

Had a guided tour of the art museum today for my 1st grader. Was a great experience. The tour guide Valerie was very patient with a group of 5 to 7 year olds. Had a wonderful time. She was able to take a very boring part of the museum to children and make it fun and engaging for them.

Decent selection. The history portion of the museum is nice. Most of the art is good. We had free passes, so I cant really comment on the prices. $20 seems fair for the amount of content you get to take in. Id recommend going here at least once in your life just to experience it.

Beautiful displays, fun place to discover and imagine. Wish they could give credit the Creater instead of theories but overall a wonderful experience. The museum is attached to the Carnegie Muesum of Art and the beautiful library. It truly is a great place to visit.

The family always enjoy coming here when we visit Pittsburgh. The price isnt bad compared to other museums. There is so much stuff to look at for people of all ages. They have a ton of things for kids to see and play with, like the digging for dinosaur fossils.

My only complaint about all of the Carnegie museums (and most everything to do for family in Pittsburgh) is that they close at 5. Just dumps you out into the worst traffic. If they would stay open even for another hour, it would save you the heartache.
