Disclaimer: Im on the board of the DGM and volunteer here almost every weekend. That being said, I got involved with the Digital Game Museum because their mission to archive and preserve the culture around games and game development is something that isnt being done elsewhere. There are a lot of great groups preserving games for playing, but very few groups preserve the ephemera that accompanies the games. From marketing materials and game pack-ins to design documents and concept art, the collection that the DGM holds in the public trust is a great resource. One tip if youre planning to visit. The Museum doesnt focus on playability, so if youre planning on bringing kids and expecting them to be able to play games, its not that kind of museum. Its more like a traditional museum with a more look and appreciate approach to displays.

The DGM is a one-of-a-kind museum, run by a mom who saved all of the video game boxes she had bought over the years. Now she shares the collection with everyone. Its a small museum with four unique arcade games, including an original Atari Pong cocktail table, a modified to play 4-player Gauntlet, and more! Including a life-size Master Chief from Halo (with battle damage!). The place is open every Saturday and the curator loves to talk to people. Its free, and if theres any old video games or gaming hardware just taking up space in your garage/home/shed, why not bring it on by and donate for a write-off? They are very friendly, approachable people. You may want to try checking the place out.

Really great place to gain insight on early gaming history and preservation. Its a very small place with only one real exhibit room, but that means the staff is able to go into great detail with you. While they do have one atari game to place its not a place you visit you play games, its about the history of the games.

I am really glad that there is a video game specific museum being built. It is small right now, but so were all collections once, and staring with pong, the master classic, they are building a quite the fine library there. Bravo!

Great video game archive with a small and charming set of exhibits attached. If you arent set on a large scale museum youll have a great time chatting with the passionate curators and viewing the pieces they have on display.

Great place with historical game devices and document collection to preserve and archive details about game culture and game development. Learnt many interesting stories about games from very nice volunteers :)

Small, kinda hidden place but a true gem. Non-profit focussed on preserving game machines and artefacts, very friendly volunteers, interesting visit, enjoyed it alot.
