Super, exciting, amazing, beyond special! All these words describe the experience we had when we took our three grandsons to Van Curazas Surf School this summer. They live in Colorado and were able to experience the ocean in a big way - by surfing during their very first lesson! The boys all enjoyed their time with Van and his surf staff and were beyond excited that they could REALLY SURF after only one lesson! Van has a way with kids of all ages - my boys were 8,11, and 16. I was astounded by the patient techniques he used on them. Each boy is different and Van found different ways to bring out the best in each of them. Surf lessons at the Van Curaza Surf School will be an annual treat!

I signed my 3 kids (ages 7, 8, & 10) up for surf camp last year and WILL do it again this year. Each one of my kids stood up (surfed) on the 1st - 3rd try. Van clearly knows what he is doing. It was the best money I have ever spent on a camp! As a professor of child development and a protective mother, I was pleased to see how involved, protective, and appropriate his employees were. They stayed in the water and assisted them with catching waves the ENTIRE time. My kids loved it. I highly recommend that you choose Van for your childs camp experience. Becky G.

Van is an outstanding instructor. He is passionate about teaching, and is a dedicated and experienced instructor. He took my wife and I for a lesson, and tailored his teaching to us based on our individual levels. He not only hammered home the fundamentals, but helped me develop a sixth sense for feeling the ocean. On a practical note, he outfitted us with quality wet suits that kept us plenty comfortable for surfing in cooler weather. I highly recommend him.

I popped in for surf lessons at the last minute and Van was happy to accommodate me and gave me the best surf lesson I have had to date. He is a great teacher; teaching solid fundamentals in a very clear way. If you are as lucky as me I surfed several waves to the beach by the end of my lesson. Thanks to Pancho as well who helped out (check out his surf shop just down the street-Panchos). The waves at Pismo were perfect for beginners as well.

After we were abandoned by another surf school, Van Curaza worked us in at the last minute. They were very patient with us and we all got up and surfed. (Naturally my kids and wife were up way before me. I think I was over thinking it...) Thanks guys! Great job!

These guys were great! I just did the 2 hour lesson and instructor Dan had me surfing on my second wave. Everyone was very friendly and encouraging. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who wants to learn how to surf.

I showed up on a Saturday and got a one on one with Dan. He was awesome!! He made it seem not so daunting and I was able to get up on my first wave. I definitely recommend this place.
