Tucked away in a small building, this is easily one of the smallest of the Parks within the National Parks system. Admission is free, but definitely worth a donation! I seriously had soo much fun exploring this National Historical Park! At the front desk, you pick up a mini book and the building is set up so you tour about, as if you were a Klondike Gold Rush prospector, first preparing to head out on your journey through the success or bust of your final prospects. Along the way, you get to collect stamps in your mini-passport to document your journey. It really is fun, and creatively makes use of the small buildings footprint. For FREE admission, its a no brainer to stop in, learn, and explore!

Of all the places to get a national parks passport stamp this one is definitely in my top 3 hidden locations. It isnt really that hidden, but if youre not looking for it then you probably wont stumble across it. That being said, it is a great facility with a lot of information and a great exhibit. Lots of hands on activities for kids and good break from the hectic crowd a mile away at Pike Place Market. Dont forget to sign the visitor log when youre there!

What a great little gem! The Ranger was helpful and great with the kids. They have a great Junior Rangers program and a really nicely done movie. The exhibits were very well done. The NPS should be proud of this one. They have a neat NPS Passport stamp for all of you that do the passport like us (they have the traditional circle version as well). All in, this was worth going out of our way for a great 75 minutes spent at a really good urban NPS NHP.

This free museum is near a lot of cool things in Seattle and should be at the top of your list of things to see and do. It is very well done and good for kiddos and adults. The movie presentations are well done and interesting. The little gift shop is nicely stocked with little things that you had no idea that you needed. Really have to see this, well worth about the 60 to 90 minutes it can take to run through it, including the movie presentations.

Honestly, can not recommend this place enough. Light filled historic building makes it a perfect stop on a rainy day. The exhibits are informative and interactive. Amazing information about the sheer number of folks that made their way to the Klondike and the sheer number of folks that made their fortune by NOT going with the gold seekers. Great for kids and history buffs. If youre kiddo is under 12 ask them about their Junior Ranger program.

Free Free Free....did I mention there is no price for Admission to this Museum. I spent about an hour in the museum and could easily spend three more. They have done a fantastic job of laying out a timeline to follow for five experiences during the Gold Rush. The interactive displays make it more fun to learn and you can sit in the theater for short films. They also do a walking tour that starts here and goes through nearby historic places.

Its a great museum that really explains the life and struggles of the people headed to the Yukon. Its crazy how few people actually made any money. The museum has a lot to see, so give yourself at least a couple of hours. I really liked looking at the pictures of old Seattle. The gold rush isnt what you think of when visiting Seattle, but this museum should be as much of a tourist destination as the Pikes Place or the Space Needle.

A free experience-museum that allows you to learn all about the Gold Rush in Seattle. Very informative, and very well researched and preserved. Was a great way to learn a little bit more about Seattle, if you are into history, this place should be a quick stop! They even had a lot of authentic items you would find during the Gold Rush period, which made the experience even more cool. Would recommend to any history buffs.

Just imagine. Drop everything and move thousands of miles in hopes for a better future. Of the 100,000 who took the chance only 1 in 5 ever found gold. Only 300 ever found more than $15,000 at the time. Amazing statistics and coming here, you can learn more about their individual stories. The exhibits are spread over 2 floors and include panels, hands on, and multi media. You can easily spend 1-2 hours here.

The museum told a very interesting story about the history of Seattle, and presented it very well. We were hooked! You get caught up in the excitement of the news of gold, endure the harsh journey to the Klondike, and get hit with the brutal reality faced by many of the stampeders when they returned home empty-handed. Well worth the visit!

Great museum: I love this tiny little downtown museum. Unlike other museums, it tells a specific story, and tells it well from start to finish. It helps you picture what it was like to be caught up in gold rush fever, how you would get supplies, and what incredible obstacles youd be presented with. Well worth the trip.

Shout out to this total Seattle hidden gem. Its free, its fun, and you will learn a ton about the gold rush. Even as a grown-up, I learned a ton just seeing the substantial exhibits on offer here. I had the great fortune to stumble into this place, but you should make it a destination on your next trip downtown.

FREE! Great, well done little museum documenting the Klondike gold rush and other aspects of the beginning of the US National Park System. Complete with some interactive stations and descriptive exhibits and pictures. They show a short film every 30 minutes I believe, however I did not get to see it.

What an ace museum and its free! It gives a fascinating insight into the gold rush and the history of Seattle with some really interesting exhibits. They also show a 25 minute movie about the gold rush which we didnt get to see. The staff are super friendly too - this place is well worth a visit.

Very interesting museum that gives the history of the Klondike Gold Rush through the eyes of a diverse group of individuals that actually were part of it. Its an interesting part to read and hear about their stories, what they went though to get there, and what happened to them afterwards.

What a gem of a museum, and free! Stroll through the history of the Klondike gold rush from the perspective of several different people and understand what drove those folks to take the chances they did. Some succeeded, and many, many more failed. Definitely worth a visit.
