I really wanted to like this place, it had a nice quirky atmosphere and the server was pleasant enough but I wont be going back. Ive heard good things so maybe they were just understaffed that night, but we had to wait nearly an hour for food, when it arrived we were really disappointed but were too hungry to send it back. The medium-rare burgers arrived well done and my curry was just a big bowl of sauce with a few chunks of chicken and hardly any rice (I literally had to search for it!) During our wait we had a very sweaty and bad tempered man emerge from the kitchen shouting "TOAST!" at us, which no-one had ordered which at least provided some comedy value... the waitress wondered by a few times reeking of cigarettes but did not refill our drinks. Perhaps a restaurant better suited to brunch than dinner.

A friend and I went here after a wedding in Charlottesville looking for a hangover fix. Its a cute and unpretentious little place that feels very homey with a slight alternative flair. I was promptly provided with bloody marys, which were much appreciated. I had the most delicious take on eggs benedict Ive ever had. It was one of their daily specials. Awesome homemade biscuits, topped with andouille sausage, onions and peppers, and DUCK EGGS. Ive never had such an inventive combination before, and the flavors were the perfect blend of greasy, southern, upscale, and modern. The mac and cheese that I got on the side (can you tell I was a little hungover?) was the cherry on top and my hangover was cured shortly thereafter. If Im ever back in Charlottesville I would definitely go back!

My fiance and I ate here back in March and I salivate over the thought of their French Toast quite often. The homemade bread with the cinnamon syrup swirled throughout the middle is unlike anything Ive ever had...incredibly delicious and reasonably priced. I crave it often and am considering making a 2 hour drive just for the French toast. We had no problems with the service. People were friendly enough and attentive and the staff seemed to be hussling to attend to their tables. They were not still for long. However, I will say, if I go to diner or dive, I dont usually expect great service. If friendliness is what matters most to you instead of the taste of the food, then stick to chain restaurants where sevice is typically friendly and the food is frozen.

Go here for Sunday brunch. It is amazing. Arrive early to avoid the line. From their inventive specials (I once had a poached duck egg served on a fried tomato with a delicious basil reduction drizzled on top) to their classic "two eggs, toast, hash browns, and bacon" breakfast, this is a favorite spot for brunch in Charlottesville. They have, hands down, the best hash browns in town. The service is friendly and the atmosphere is relaxed, though it can feel a bit tight when the place is busy (as Sunday brunch recently is). Brunch is my favorite meal to eat here, but they also have great options for lunch and frequently have live music during the weeknights. I do believe that they now serve brunch on both Saturday and Sundays.

This was my favorite part of Charlottesville besides the beauty of the town itself. We were in town for a concert and scoured the web for interesting places to eat at. We are so happy to have stumbled onto the Blue Moon. To get to the most important part, the food was awesome. I had the Sloppy Sliders and my wife had Meatloaf. Both were superb. The ambience was perfect for what we look for in a diner. Unique decor, a killer vinyl collection which we allowed to pic a record for the waitress to play. We also struck up conversation with a local artist. Everything was perfect with this place. I recommend this place if you visit.

Quirky and lively, all sorts gather at Blue Moon Diner, from geeks and nerds to construction workers, hipsters and yuppies. And why wouldnt they? The food is affordable but tasty, the coffee is perhaps the best in the city, and the mood is always sunny. Still, dont expect to get in and out quickly. Its probably a little understaffed, and the waiters and waitresses may take a little while to get around to you, but its all worth it when you leave satisfied anyways. If anyone has been to Austin, this place is Charlottesvilles Mags.

We waited over an hour for our food, which never came. Others seated after us had ordered and received their food during the time we waited. All three members of the wait staff ignored us and lied to us about our food being made after we politely inquired about it. When we asked again 15 minutes later, the server gave us a dumbfounded look, told us that our order still wasnt there, and made no effort to reconcile that it had been lost. We finally gave up and left. Poor service. Wont visit again.

Very cool atmosphere in the little diner. Menu is classic with lots of modern twists. Though there was only one person working the front of house on this particular visit, we got our food relatively quickly but he forgot my coffee completely and my bf ordered ham n cheese and got bacon. It kinda felt like we werent regulars so we didnt get the attention or any special service . Theyre closing for renovations soon so who knows what itll be like when it reopens in 2018.

There isnt a thing wrong with this place. If you go here, you will not have a bad time. The food isnt mindblowing (except for the bacon), but it is always good. The atmosphere welcomes you from all angles. The bacon! (Breakfast is my favorite time of day here.) The staff are fantastic. They somehow make faces appear on their pancakes. When I take my kids here, they are always well behaved (I dont know why). Go here with the peace of mind that all will be well.

My family (2 adults, 3 kids) had breakfast here. Laid back, quirky little diner with a few slightly unusual takes on classic breakfast fare. All in my party were satisfied. Exceptionally good coffee! The food took a little while to come out (only one cook I think?) but service was otherwise attentive and friendly. Recommended. (Note - the "corned beef hash" is slices of meat on a bed of potatoes, not traditional hash. OK, but maybe not what you are expecting)

Tried to come Sunday but time constraints made it a difficult decision so came back Monday night since they have all day breakfast. They were out of black cherry, apparently since earlier this week, but no matter, the wait staff was excellent, the diner clean and well lit. The food was pretty good for what we wanted, but I really was impressed with staff and putting up with my incessant questions about their different drinks.

We arrived and were the only party waiting. We were quoted 10-15 minutes wait. After about 30 minutes of waiting and seeing several other parties seated, we asked the hostess what was going on. We were told we were the next party of 4 to be seated. The hostess was completely inept at her job. Ill never visit again. There are far better brunch locations in Charlottesville.
