Visiting LBJ Ranch was educational, but also a pleasure. Approximately an hour and a half west of Austin, the ranch is open during the day for a free ~30 minute drive-through, with scattered historic stops and markers. At the end of the loop, you end up at LBJs hanger, with "Air Force One-Half," and his house, the "Texas White House." A tour of the first floor of the latter costs only $3 and provides a valuable look into LBJs and Lady Birds personal living and working spaces. Definitely worth the drive, especially if you combine it with stops at Enchanted Rock or Fredericksburg.

I didnt visit the house, only the ranch and it was very interesting to me to discover how L.B. Johnson, used to live. Not because its a President, but because I didnt know anything about ranches and life in Texas in the early 20th. To visit the ranch, you just drive though it on a well signed path. You see the old school, the grand-parents house, ,etc...Even the cows ! Its really nice and peaceful. Then I went to the old maid farm next to the ranch. It stayed like it was and is still in fantastic shape. There we saw a herd of does and that was perfect to conclude the day !

I love this place. Too bad 58,000 Americans are dead because of LBJ. He and his "great society" has brought generational poverty to black Americans and they are doing worse now than before starting his great society. Stockholm syndrome keeps black Americans on the democrap plantation EXACTLY how Johnson wanted. I know the black Americans are as capable as anyone else and they dont need welfare big democraps make them think they need it and that theyre going to give it to them.

Very well kept, staff is extremely positive and knowledgeable, the organization of the history helps visitors understand what is going on, affordable, and just fun!! The whole ranch is huge and it is fun trying to put yourself back when this whole place was booming with the family, secret service, and business men running around everywhere. Great place and plan for a whole day to be spent here if you want to see everything and enjoy it. Super relaxed.

This was an unexpected pleasure- much more interesting than you might think. The ranch is really well preserved with lots of personal items from the Johnson family. The guides are extremely knowledgeable and the grounds are expertly maintained. Gives a really clear idea of how presidential politics worked in the times. My favorite part was the "hotline phone" mounted under the dining room table at LBJs chair.

The state park and historic site has a visitors center with a brief video about his life which is in the same building as an interesting gift shop. Then you can tour an interesting living-history farm where staff members dressed in period clothes explain how folks survived in this region one hundred years ago and beyond. This has nothing to do with LBJ, but is extremely engaging (and picturesque!).

I completely agree with Kate Tates review. I just wish we could have seen the entire house. The tour was limited to the lower floors. The history of the rooms & items was absolutely fascinating, so would have loved to see where the girls stayed, but I also love seeing old home architecture. Overall, however, still very enjoyable, & very much worth the diversion.

The whole complex is very interesting, but surprisingly the Johnson ranch house is not as intriguing as the living history farm because of the charming and informative ladies who staff the farmhouse. Still, the park rangers who lead the tours through the house and who work in the museums make the visit interesting and worthwhile.

The LBJ Ranch tour is really educational and the park rangers did a great job at telling the history of the "Texas White House". The park is really well maintained even for a region going through a major drought. The whole experience is really laid back and I enjoyed my time there. I would recommend to my friends and family.

I am from Ireland. I visited the park about 15 years ago. Great friendly people. The one thing, in particular, I remember after all these years is the wonderful wildflower meadow. I have never see better anywhere else. I hope it is still there. Without hesitation I give your park five stars. Patrick McCusker.

Very nice park with a wealth of history. Our ranger/tour guide was very knowledgeable and interesting. We were told there could be up to an hour wait for the white house tour but we waited only 10 minutes from the time we purchased the ticket until the tour started. We also really enjoyed the working period farm.

Loved the Pioneer farm experience. Volunteers were knowledgeable and engaging. Loved the trails thru the park. Another couple brought bikes so they could experience the entire area- great idea for next time. Dont forget to stop and see the buffalo and Longhorns while you are there.

Love the history of Texas. This ranch was owned and operated by one of the Presidents of the United States, Lyndon B Johnson. The whole site is now a National park. There is an actual working 1900s farm on site that shows how people lived off the land back in the day. All very cool

Nice and peaceful park. This place is great for families since the trails are simple and the living farm is great for kids. More experienced hikers or those seeking interesting views will be disappointed. The herd of buffalo is very cool though! Incredibly helpful staff too.

Absolute blast here! Wasnt expecting much going there and figured we would only spend an hour there. Ended up spending all day and enjoyed every bit of it! Very much Family Friendly and budget friendly. To go thru the park is free and to tour the house is $3/person.

Great view into the background and life of LBJ. Well-orchestrated driving tour and friendly, knowledgeable staff giving the tours on site. Worth a trip! (Visit the LBJ Presidential Library in Austin, too, for an even more complete look at the Johnson presidency.)

Very much enjoyed the historic park to my surprise, a lot of history - did not know that the ranch was basically a second White House during President Johnsons time in office. For the full picture, visit all parts of the park.

Make sure to stop by the period correct working farm, one of the coolest things Ive seen in a while. When we walked into the kitchen, you could tell they just finished cooking in the wood stove, I wanted to stay for dinner!

Well worth the visit. The staff is very friendly. It would cost you $3/adult to take the "White House" tour (kids are free). No hurry - no big crowds - mostly peaceful. Great 1900s working farm. A few hours well spent.

Start with the film in the visitors center for some perspective and definitely take the tour of the home at the end. The home is more or less as it was during LBJs presidency and is well preserved as a time capsule.

Weve been here multiple times! Its in the beautiful hill country and is free to see. The drive around the property is incredible and you get to see his Air Force 1/2 and the Texas White House. Definitely worth it !

A five star from me... The LBJ cows, the farm, the hanger where they have a very nice exhibit on LBJs life and some of his phone recordings, to the visit of The white house... All of it deserve a five star.
