We were debating "doing" the Missions on our own but our Concierge highly recommended using the "San Antonio Walks" tour company. We felt if we were going to do it right that we ought to give them a whirl. Very good decision. Our guide Gary balanced the information between factoids and a real, deeper understanding. His knowledge of San Antonio on the whole is AMAZING and helped put these Missions into context with that. So glad he also made sure we saw the acequia! He brought to our attention the serenity and past that is palpable when there and when you think about it, that was very true. In reality, the Missions were another failed human experiment (for the most part). Nonetheless, they are truly unique, fascinating and timeless. Make sure you see them, even if youre not a history buff. And be sure to use these people at "Walks" - theyll make them come alive for you!

Mission San Jose is one of the many historic missions that stretch along San Antonios mission trail. These were built to convert the local populace, and later became forts and communities of their own. San Jose is probably the most interesting (beside the alamo) and lively. They have a mariachi mass on Sundays where a mariachi band plays... during mass. Its way more fun than it sounds. There is also a nice courtyard that is well landscaped and lots of history to learn about. We biked down to the mission using the convenient b Cycle kiosks and the mission was a welcome relief from the seats.

mission san jose is an absolute must see . unlike mission concepcion this mission contains the outside exterior wall with the living quarters . the famous rose window contains no actual glass it is actually an exterior design on the front side of the church . take the time to walk around the back of the mission and view it from that angle . if you dont have a car and are staying down by the river walk goto the visitor center by the alamo buy a ticket to bus number 42 it will drive you straight to both mission san jose and mission concepcion .

the San Jose mission is one of many missions in the San Antonio area and a beautiful spot to learn about history and take amazing photos. the architecture is in true southern Texas mission Adobe style and there are tours you can take or just mosey around on your own. be sure to look everywhere... it was when I went through a door I almost overlooked that I found some stunning architecture around the inside of the door that took my breath away.

Both tourists and natives alike should spend a day exploring the missions at San Antonio. They are an integral part of the history of this land and the park does an amazing job at preserving that history while making the missions available to the populace. If you have any questions during your visit please do not hesitate to ask the caretakers as they are more than happy to field any questions!

Loved walking around these missions. The beautiful architecture and great stories behind each one kept us busy for most of the day. The rain that day kept us from taking advantage of the bike rentals that are conveniently located at each one. Weve been to San Antone many times, but this was a first for us. Glad we did it.

Outrageous and biased explanation of the greatness of the Catholic Church. The video documentary that they show at this place attempts to freedom of religion and to the memory and labour of those who gave their lives for many people in the name of God and of Humanity

不愧为美国境内最漂亮的修道院了。。。还是很有看头的,在这里感受到第一代西班牙人在这里的拓荒历史,蛮有趣的

They have done an excellent job of preserving the mission and present a good and complete history of the mission. There is a 20 minute video and free tours (about 45 minutes). Much better than going t the Alamo. This is a must see place for San Antonio.

We were here in March of 2014. What a great place! Even high temps in the mid 80s, this place was comfortable. Really enjoyed the history and the church. Go here! If you like history, or culture or great looking old buildings youll enjoy it.

Highly recommend seeing all five of the missions while visiting San Antonio.. The buildings are photo worthy and if you go on a Sunday like we did you can hear the Catholic Service going on inside. Makes for a genuine experience..

National Park Service guides are a national treasure. No matter where I travel, they are always kind and extremely well informed. The Mission is at the top of my list when visitors pass through town. An excellent place.

One of the most beautiful missions in the area. I try to visit any chance I get with family or our guests from out of town. If you love visiting the historical missions, make sure to make it out to Goliad!

If you want to get an idea of what the Alamo looked like before the walls were torn down, check out the San Jose Mission. This play was one of the highlights of my trip to San Antonio.
