This is absolutely my all-time favorite place to go hangout. I come here every opportunity I get. I dont love everything here all of the time. Its dank and smelly sometimes, but not often, and the restrooms are a tragedy. If you come during a busy showing, the servers will literally throw your meal together. I once arrived to a packed show and ordered a Philly Cheesesteak with a side of fruit in place of fries, and the fruit came tossed all over the plate. If I order a shake, the whipped cream on top is sunken into the rest of it like its suffering from depression. But if a person comes often enough, like me (Ive been coming here for years), you start to figure out how the Alamo Drafthouse works and thats when it really becomes a great place. Coming during a showing where theres only a handful of other guests, if anyone else, in attendance, the service rarely disappoints. My side of ripe colorful fruit will come in a bowl, and the shake has a topping of whipped cream that gradually ascends into the heavens like a work of art. The food is excellent if you know what to order, and the pricing is fair. Over the years, Ive had a number of occasions where Ive needed to consult with a manager, and theyve never left me disappointed. Theyve almost always resolved whatever problems Ive brought up to them, and in the case they couldnt, it wasnt such a big deal anyway. Add to that all, the location is nicely located right beside a Constable sub-station, so you dont feel worried about coming here at night, its a safe place. I like that I can come here at 10PM+, watch some obscure animated Japanese film in a practically empty theater and enjoy a fine meal. And I also like that I can come here for a mainstream flick in a packed theater and have a pleasant but not perfect time all the same. For that, I give this place 5/5.

My first and last time at Alamo Drafthouse. I was unimpressed with the theater facility but even more unimpressed with the food. I placed my order before the movie started (pretzel, chocolate milk and a bleu cheese burger with no red onions). The pretzel and chocolate milk came out first and both tasted fine. However, when the movie started, my bleu cheese burger order came out in the dark and I took a bite but it didnt taste like bleu cheese. I inspected it as best as I could with my cellphone (strict no cellphone rules while the movie is playing) and barely could see the burger upon inspection. I took a 2nd bite and thats when I knew something was wrong - I looked at it again and discovered I got a bacon burger instead of a bleu cheese burger. I do not eat pork due to religious reasons so this is extremely bad. I let the staff know when they came around and they replaced it taking about 40-50 minutes total time from when I first discovered the error, which sucked because I was starving and most of the movie was over with. They did offer me a big bowl of popcorn (?) which did nothing more than make me more hungry and thirsty. When the bleu cheese burger came out corrected, I took two notes and it was just gross. Perhaps I was still grossed out by the previous burger or the salty popcorn. My bill was not adjusted in anyway, which was disappointing. To be fair, the gentleman who took my order was genuinely apologetic and I do not feel that this was done on purpose. My friend had felt the same way as I did about the food, and it was his first time at Alamo Drafthouse as well, and we both had free tickets for the movie. Neither of us plan on ever returning.

I dont always go see a movie in theaters, but when I do, I prefer Alamo. Joking aside, Alamo Drafthouse is my favorite theater to go to. The food I have ordered has been greasy, but thats the kind of food I chose (philly cheesesteak, burger, cheese fries, etc..) so I am usually satisfied. The beer selection is great as well. They have more than just your generics and usually will have something youve probably never heard of (unless youre a micro-brew fanboy). They show new releases as well as cult classics which I find quite amusing. Youll also find more obscure movies that dont release to the major theaters. Its definitely adult-oriented. I dont think they allow under 18 unless youre with a parent, which is a plus for people wanting to avoid the younger crowd. They advertise that they will not tolerate texting or cell phone use in the theater and they mean business, which is good because people are paying good money to enjoy the film, not someones constant turning on and off of their bright phone in a dark theater. The facilities are fairly clean for a movie theater (your feet wont stick to the floor as bad) but its still a theater and not a hospital so it has its faults. All in all a great place for young adults / adults to go see a movie. If youre a film buff youll fit in more here than the giant chains. If youre into cult classics like Rocky Horror Picture Show, youll love their rerun specials (Rocky Horror has a sing-along with many people coming in costume). Families are welcome too, but may not feel quite at home as they would in a theater that doesnt serve a long list of brews.

I went to the Mason Park location of the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema last Saturday (27. Dec. 2014) to see "The Interview" (James Franco, Seth Rogen) with my 14 year old son. Great call, we ended up having a great time at the 21:45 showing of the movie. We arrived a little over half an hour early for the movie, as the Alamo folks recommend, to enjoy the pre-show. Alamo Drafthouse Cinema has done a great job with the pre-show for this movie, perfectly setting both context and the mood for the movie with a series of cartoons, old news reels, North Korean propaganda reels, etc. Fantastic. The Mason Park Alamo Drafthouse Cinema was the perfect place to make the most out of this movie. Overall a great moviegoing experience; decent food, great service, and that pre-show. Both I and my 14 year old had a great time. I actually bought the tickets to see the movie in the theater, then bought and downloaded the movie from Google Play Movies before going to the theater to see it, but resisted any urge to sneek a peek at the download, to make sure we enjoyed it in the theater first. I just knew this movie was a keeper, for some reasons beyond the movie itself perhaps, as much as for the movie. Still havent watched it on Google Play, will soon, but very glad we held out for the actual moviegoing experience in a physical movie theater first. Again, the Mason Park Alamo Drafthouse Cinema was the perfect place to make the most out of the movie "The Interview" with James Franco and Seth Rogen, pre-show and staff service providing a moviegoing experience well beyond the movie itself.

Horrible Service tonight. There were 3 of us on one ticket. We had some of our food. We HS to go and check on the 3rd entree. Also, early on the movie we had our paper up for more drinks and water. No one ever came. No last call. And when they brought our ticket, our paper was still up for a drink and they didnt even notice. And the check WAS WRONG! It over charged by charging twice for one of the entrees. I went to talk to a server and there were 2 chatting in the back. The server said let me talk to management. They brought he ticket/check back and all they did was fix the overcharge. The last few times weve been to Alamo, the service and cleanliness seems to be slipping. But tonight was terrible. Also, we got early to have a drink and there wasnt enough staff to serve folks very fast. Pretty bad for a Friday night. Also- we got an appetizer. Any time anyone would come bring us something early on, they wouldnt take anything with them (no quick clearing). So you have no room. And, one of us ordered an Evan Williams Green Label and the server read our order (was early before show started) and he came back and said "we only serve this after 10..." 1) why is this? 2) why is this not stated on the menu, and 3) why is the staff not properly trained to know this when he read our order and said okay?
