We attended a family engagement party at The Astorian. The party was to end at 12:30 and security came in at 12:10. 2 security guards wearing guns rushed up to me and said we needed to leave. There was still a large group of people in the venue. We were wrapping up the party but the security personnel got in my face and demanded that we leave right then. I asked why and they said the party was over and we needed to leave. They were very rude and threatening. Another family member came up to see what was the problem. When he asked them to back out of my face; they told him they would arrest him if he did not leave. We were not being loud or disruptive, and they could have asked us in a more polite manner. They could have let us know that they were trying to instruct us to be out by 12:30. We still had 20 minutes and yet they came at us in a threatening and aggressive manner. When security was insistent that the party end immediately they were not only insistent but very combative with all guests. It was the way they asked us to leave that is the problem, rather than what they were trying to say. This is not the type of behavior that you would expect when attending this type of event. For the amount of money spent for this event and the times quoted , this should have never happened. It gives a very poor image to The Astorian and is very disrespectful of their guests. I am a family member but was a guest at the party. We were doing nothing wrong but yet made to feel a criminal. This was such a horrific experience for me and my whole family. I have a lot of experience with large venues and have never had such an experience as this. This was quite a surprise and shock for a venue of this caliber to treat their paying guests this way. I cannot believe that this is the first time this has happened at this venue. I will never recommend this venue to anyone.

The Astorian was an absolutely perfect venue for our High Schools Senior Girls Dance. We decided on a Titanic theme after visiting the beautiful space and feeling like we were on a cruise ship! The view of the Houston skyline was amazing, but the staff was even more amazing! The best part of the night was definitely the high level of service throughout the event. We actually overheard some of the young adults saying, "This is SO nice - I cant believe they let us come here!"

Attended a wedding reception here. Of course a lot of factors have to be considered but we thought it was a great place, had a good time and would recommend it to someone whos looking for this type of venue. Valet parking needs some improvement but overall very good.
