A WORD OF WARNING FOR ANYONE PLANNING TO HAVE THEIR WEDDING AT THIS VENUE!!! My dear friend recently chose this venue as the site for her wedding. I listened to her for months as she was literally TORTURED by the owner (Sarah and her husband) and the ever changing policies of this place throughout the process. Instead of feeling happy an excited before her big day, her body was breaking out in HIVES – all because of the way the owner of this establishment and her husband treated her wedding and her family. She was literally traumatized by the experience. They nickel and dimed the family for every cent and there was a mountain of added unexpected expenses following the event. I am surprised they didn’t charge extra for oxygen. Not only were they not transparent about costs and expenditures, but they gave her family such a hard time during set-up and break down. Now here is my review as a guest: The location of the venue is completely out of the way and out of the city. I was stuck in an hour of traffic just to get to the establishment. The outside of the structure is hideous and looks like a toy castle. The beauty of this venue is most certainly the inside – with its tall ceiling, large windows, and beautiful white floors. The venue is quite large and can easily accommodate a very large wedding (complete with a very high price tag, poor service, and venue cooperation). Acoustics were decent. In my opinion, you can get many other beautiful venues in the Houston area that are closer to town, offer a more impressive exterior, and much much much better service and experience. The Citadel is no unique venue option. A wedding is one of the most special events in a couple’s life. Sure, planning a wedding has its own set of stresses, but it certainly makes things worse when the venue is uncooperative, rude, and dishonest. The people who run this establishment are unprofessional and obviously not very experienced with customer service and/or how to run a business. I am currently planning my wedding and will most certainly not choose the citadel as my venue.

My wife and I had our wedding here and we were incredibly disappointed with the services provided. Although the venue is beautiful, management was incredibly rude especially Sara. To begin with, the food which was served was not what we had tested with the venue. We asked for steak which would be served in slices and fish. The steak being in one piece as it was served on the day of the wedding would not have been a problem but steak knives were not provided. Instead butter knives were provided making it nearly impossible to enjoy the steak. Many of our guests did not receive both meats on our plates. Some received only fish while others received only steak. The wait staff informed us that they they had run out of food which would impossible since we paid for 350 people and only 300 had arrived. We had many complaints from our family and friends who did not receive the food in which they ordered. Through out the whole process of before, during, and after the wedding Sara showed no consideration in making our wedding as special as possible. Im incredibly disappointed in the efforts and would not recommend anyone book their wedding here. Theyre are plenty of other options in which the management would be much more accommodating to your needs.

Owner was extremely rude and arrogant when I came to get information for my friends wedding. He acted as if his banquet hall which is in middle of the ghetto was too good for my wedding. He was rude and very unprofessional. I will leave it at that. Its may have been a beautiful banquet hall it there are plenty other more beautiful banquet halls that are not in the ghetto with polite , helpful employees and owner so they get one star from me. He need go humble himself and I hope he goes out of business with his unprofessional, wrinkled suit wearing, bad hair cut, rude self.

Beautiful venue but with horrible owners and customer service. They did nothing but make my wedding more stressful and did not deliver the food we paid for. They actually RAN OUT of food even though we had siginficantly less people show up than what we had reserved for. Unfriendly owner and just appalling how they run a business!

We have held our school Gala at The Citadel two years in a row. We have had two wonderfully successful events at this great venue. Not only is the facility beautifully neutral, well laid out, and spacious, the owner and staff are incredible to work with. You will not be disappointed if you choose to have your event here!

The venue was very nice, the food was great even though it took almost 30 minutes for me to receive my meal. The valet service was horrible and they stole my handicap placard from my vehicle.
