Ive had an hour to sit here and digest the event I paid to see tonight at the Gas Monkey Live venue. It is a poor venue for a concert, and thats being kind. I have intentionally stayed away from the Gas Monkey locations because I dislike the stupidity of the show, and I figure the same would carry over to the establishments. It does. Let me list the reasons why, and as always, you be the judge (jury and executioners). 1. Pricing. The VIP table we sat was priced $350 on the website. When we purchased a table the price magically jumped to $450. When we called, the female manager told us she wouldnt honor the correct price, and said it was fixed on the website It was actually corrected a few days later. 2. The lighting. Now I know why Merle Haggard wore full wrap around sunglasses. Bright, cold blue hue white lights at a pattern would blind you every few minutes. I get you want to set a mood, but blinding your customers probably doesnt set up a positive mood. If you looked down at the feet of the performers, it helped. And after all, thats what we are there to experience, musicians feet. 3. The sound is terrible in there. Half-assed is an accurate description. Care-less is yet another. Its not the bands fault, it is the walls. 4. Access to and from the VIP section blows. 2 ways in, 2 ways out. Both clogged with people that re standing for the same concert you are there for. A bypass would have been handy, but that is asking for forward thinking at a place so backwards. 5. The refreshments and consumables were poor. Now I am not much of a drinker, and wasnt drinking tonight, but even I know watered down drinks when I see them. Two people at my table got mixed drinks, and both asked the server if they mistakenly got virgin drinks. 3 ladies at the table behind us asked if our drinks were weak too (our meaning the folks drinking at my table). The nachos ordered looked like store bought chips, but there was only a small amount of cheese and beef. The majority of the chips had nothing on them. Spend your money there if you must. I wont be back, not when there are other, far better venues in Dallas. ETA: I flat question all those 5 star reviews below this one. This place can below me.

I had an absolutely horrible experience at Gas Monkey Live this evening. My friends and I arrived early, around 5:30 pm, for what was printed as doors open at 6, show starts at 6:30 pm. We waited for over two hours outside for GA, and kept being told "10 more minutes", "15 more minutes", etc. We did not make it in until after 7:30 pm. That is an hour and a half later than our tickets said. Secondly, your security is a JOKE. inside you have posted (on a 8 1/2 x 11 piece of paper on either side of the stage, which, is not visible once the show begins) No Moshing, No crowd surfing, No Aggressive Behavior, etc. This was not at all enforced. One security gentleman at the front of the stage did remove one crowd surfer, but she was not asked to leave the venue, and ended up participating in a 2nd mosh pit during Sepulturas set. Myself and my friends were trying to enjoy the show and the music, however this turned out to be impossible due to the moshing in front and behind us. My friend was knocked down by one individual, and shortly after, I was knocked down by someone else. The floor was slick with beer and ice and I struggled to get up; all the while people moshing around us. Either one of us could have easily been seriously injured, and nobody bothered to help us. We decided to leave the show immediately. Also, the only police presence was one cop car outside, parked on the side of the building. We also decided that we will not be returning to your venue ever again. If there was a rating system available, I would rate 1 star or lower, if possible.

Went to my first concert at this venue last night. The bar is huge and it was probably the fastest Ive ever gotten a drink at a show. The place is one of the cleanest venues Ive ever been to and I even saw employees cleaning the bathroom throughout the show all night. The 2 giant screens on each side of the stage is an added bonus being able to see crystal clear live video from several different angles. The smoking hole is also a very clean place to go outside and has several wooden benches to sit at. I bought general admission tickets and honestly, I felt that I had a way better spot than anyone in the "VIP" section, which is further away from the stage and off towards the side of the building. Additionally, there are 2 bars that are literally on both sides of the stage that make it easy to get a drink without having to walk all the way to the back of the venue and fight your way back through the crowd. Ticket prices are very reasonable and I definitely plan on going back to see a show here.

Worst venue Ive ever seen. Racism at the door, allowing people of certain colors to wear hats, shorts, etc, while being completely disrespectful to everyone else. Club boasts performances from artists that were never booked, lies cheats, and steals, and then refuses to return your money after giving you the run around for an hour. Was there for five minutes and had to get the OWNER for a refund. Absolute scam artists. DO NOT go here. Ive been to every venue in Dallas and can honestly say Ive never seen blatant lying scammers like I have here. Dirty female Dallas cop works outside and is CLEARLY paid by the venue. If not for the 1 make cop that cares about the law and respects it, I would still be out my 65 dollars I paid for my gf and I to attend a completely fake event. These people should be sued and put out of business.

This would be 4.5 if their video monitors didnt have such insane lag. If you cant solve this, just get rid of them. It just makes it weird. Seriously, the visuals run about a half second or more behind. So weird. Theyll close up on the drummer and youre just trying to figure out what is wrong and then you realize your eyes are stuck about a half second to second in the past. Sound is pretty good for such an echo-y room. Beer selection is good. Parking lot is free of murder. At least for now. Like I said. Itd be a pretty great venue if they could just fix that one super weird thing.

This venue is a perfect small, intimate, setting for live shows and they book some well known bands. Theres a huge bar in the center of the front half of the building where you walk in. They have a smoking section outside and a counter where you can pick up pre-ordered stuff, posters, shirts, vinyl records,etc... The stage area has a pit with sections on each side with tables. Unfortunately the ticket price is higher to have access to these tables. If you get general admission, plan on standing up the woke time youre there.
