Cowboys Red River is primarily a country dance bar with live music. It has a large dance floor and offers a variety of drinks. However, the venue has received mixed reviews regarding the quality of service, especially from the bouncers and entrance staff. While the drinks and live music generally receive positive comments, the crowd and atmosphere have changed over time, leading to a shift in customer demographics.

DO NOT GO TO THIS ESTABLISHMENT if you just want to have a good time. Men; the bouncers believe that they have an monopoly on the women, if one accidentally talks, looks, smiles at the wrong female they will set you up to be arrested for public intoxication which is a $393 fine in Dallas and 6 to 12 hours in CDC. The bouncers also claim that "you are under arrest" and attempt to detain those whom they do not like or accidentally bump into the wrong person. I witnessed this as the had a plain clothed individual as he was leaving intentionally step in a gentlemans path to create contact; therefore, an "assault" had occurred and he was surrounded by 7 goofy uniformed men uniformed douchbag wanna be law enforcement officers that were unable to meet the basic IQ requirements to enter law enforcement of any kind currently using techniques that are indeed unlawful to physically abuse and detain men that they are unfamiliar or accidentally say "hi" to the wrong female. The man that was escorted out stated several times "I am leaving and I do not want to cause any problems;" as he approached the door of the establishment a 64" FAT DUMPY bouncer stated that the man who was completely cooperating and complying with "the gang of 7" states that he was "under arrest" and again made it so the man unintentionally "bumped" into him; thereby, causing another unintended assault. They corralled the man and and called law enforcement over to interview the man once law enforcement arrived to interview the man the FAT DUMPY bouncer and Rolly Polly General Manager came over to the man yelling epitaphs such as "you are going to jail!" "Your going down." It was determined by a REAL law enforcement officer for the City of Dallas that he indeed meant no harm and was not any source of violence and was released.

We love to Kicker Dance (a.k.a. Two-Step) and this is great place. The live music was excellent the night we went. I usually dont like it live b/c it can be too loud but this was just right. It was a cover band that sounded exactly like the various artists who sang the songs they covered. They were really good! Periodically the staff would throw a stack of napkins in the air. I guess it was to contribute to the party atmosphere. Weird but ok, I guess. The dance floor is very slippery but that makes it easy to dance to. at peak times, it gets so crowded its hard to dance - especially by those people that insist on spinning around & around. If its not crowded thats ok but when crowded it makes it hard to get by & youre likely to get elbowed. But thats not Cowboys Red Rivers fault - just sayin people could be a little more respectful, courteous, etc... The drinks are good and strong enough to get your moneys worth. If you are the designated driver, theyll give you soft drinks at no charge usually. The friendly waitresses are good at quickly bringing your order and correcting anything if its not right or to your liking. They also appreciate & support our military veterans. When the guys at the door saw my husbands military ID as he was pulling out his drivers license, they waved him inside at no charge while thanking him for his service (hes retired after serving more than 20 years). He was really touched by their consideration & appreciation.

Red river is great. Ive been going here for a few years now. Couple things to address things I see in other peoples reviews. If you get kicked out because you are visibly intoxicated, you are probably visibly intoxicated. Red river is a hot spot for the local police because of the location not to mention TABC agents. Any places that are really big like red river get targeted a lot by police and TABC. They are there to protect people. TL;DR Dont drink and drive. Dont be so intoxicated you cant control yourself Next...30$ change for the bar tab is merely a holding fee. It is what it is. It reverted to the actual tab price by Tuesday following the weekend you were there. Red river is fun especially if you like to dance. Drink, Dance, Have fun. Dont be a dick to the staff or bartenders. Imagine if your job was to deal with drunk you on a daily basis. To Red River, The music is too loud. Take it down a couple notches. Also play some damn Texas Country. We are in Texas and Texas people like Texas Country. Texas Country. Oh yeah. Texas Country.

"Greeter" at the door--a short guy with an attitude in a cowboy hat--was remarkably surly. As I approached the door, far from greeting me or otherwise saying hello, he didnt even look my way. There was no "Howre you doin" or "Welcome!" Instead he waited until I passed and then called out with a "Hey!" I wasnt even sure he was talking to me. I turned around, and said "Yes." He said, without even turning around to look at me, "Right hand," like a command. His job was to put a paper bracelet on patrons wrists. By now, my good feelings about meeting friends for an evening of dancing were fading fast. He then placed the bracelet on my wrist in total silence as if it were a bother to him. No "thank you," or "have a great time." My mood changed instantly from looking forward to a great evening with friends to "What a little prick!" Memo to Red River management. You have one chance to make a first impression. The greeter on Saturday night, September 3 at around 8 PM, is doing you no favors in the "good first impression" department.

This place used to be the best country bar in the state. Now it is only a good bar if you dont know what it used to be like. I am not sure if the closing of the Arlington location is the cause, but this place has gone downhill since then. They used to have a great mix of people that love country dancing. Now the crowed tends to be drunk minors that show up in tank tops, swim shorts and swim socks as shoes!!! This isnt a lakefront bar! How hard up can COWBOYS RED RIVER be for the $20 they make on a minor at the door vs the $30-$300 in alcohol sells that can be made with the adults that are being ran off by the new nonsense. This place is still fun, but i have concerns that homeless people will soon be pushing their shopping carts on the dance floor. This review wasnt written to bash anyone. I hope to simple shed light on the issue. It would be great if someone can get things going back in the right direction.

I normally dont post reviews but after what happened to me I felt like I had to. I was recently there on 4th of July week. Thursday the 2nd, I opened a tap at the bar to the left of the entrance. I paid for two beers and then went back later for another and closed my tab. I remember it came out to a total of $15 and some change. I tipped her $5 which is more than 20% of the entire tab. My total when i signed my receipt was $20.25.The next morning out of habit I checked my bank acct and I was charged $30!! I called, and called, and no one ever answered. I had to dispute the charges with my bank. I am highly upset that the bartender took advantage of my generosity. We trust these gals with our bank cards!!! Who knows how many other people theyve done this to. I would suggest paying cash every single time you pay at the bar. I still give Red River a 4 because I always have a good time!! :)
