My wife and I stayed at the house a couple of years ago and we enjoyed it immensely. In fact we wanted to setup a weekend for us and two or three other couple friends on Valentines day 2016. I called and spoke to a gentleman (I believe Patrick) in the spring of 2015. I informed him of my plans and asked to make a reservation. He informed me that they were hoping to get a wedding on that weekend and asked me to call back in late Sept. or early Oct. I was disappointed but agreed. Upon calling back at the end of September (just a few weeks ago) I talked with a woman who informed me that they do not reserve for the following year until after the January 1st. I explained my conversation with Patrick, she agreed to have him call me back so we could discuss it. A week and a half later after no call I once again contacted Tara Winery, the lady seemed to remember me and assured me that Patrick would call me back that very day. Now, two weeks later, no calls or emails I am reviewing your business. This is idiotic to ignore people who have already payed to stay at your facilities and is excited to spend even more time and money there. I do not know who is in charge there, but there needs to be some changes. I will DEFINITELY tell all my friends here in Dallas to stay away.

Evening time nice outside with the music, but dinner horrible. We ordered 2 steaks, medium. Mine almost over cooked, the other well done. When we said something to waitress, she said they would take off. But at checkout, manager only gave half off. Ordered pasta marinara for kids, good for grownups, but too Spicy for kids. Should say so on menu. When seated, given bread plates for bread that doesnt exist. Asked and waitress acted like bread had never been invented. No bread! Why the plates then? Dogs running everywhere. Begging for food, scaring kids with barking. Sorry, fine for a glass of wine, not much else. Need new manager and chef, revamp the place if it wants to survive.

Tara Vineyard is about an hour south of downtown Dallas. We were very impressed with the wine taste and quality. There is a beautiful antebellum style gone with the wind B&B house adjacent on the property. We did not stay, but walked through the house and it would make for a terrific get away. The food (the owner acknowledged issues a year or so ago and indicated those have been resolved) was quite good and reasonable. Dogs are VERY welcome and ours had a blast running free. They do not bother guests, but enjoy roaming the vineyard and playing. But, above all, the wines were outstanding. We look forward to a return soon!

Wonderful and charming dining rooms, each with their own ambiance. Romantic and rustic. Views of grapes growing on the sloping terrain. A bed and breakfast historical home in the distance. Cows or cattle in the side acres. What more could you want as a get away from stressful work or weekend away? Everything on the menu is tasty. Unique weekend specials abound. And deserts that are so large that they could be shared. We have been visiting throuhout the past year and met the chef and owners. Never had a bad food experience or poor service. A foodie would definitely be happy here.

Beautiful hilltop view from restaurant of the vineyard and storied Murchison mansion. The chef Becklynne James is among the young visionary chefs at wineries all over the country who are reinventing southern cuisine with a nod to farm to table sourced from local growers. Couple that with some truly above average wine and youve got yourself one heck of a weekend day trip. Splurge and order up a bottle of carriage house ,or if you prefer white, a bottle of Blanc du Bois made from grapes grown on-site.

When is a rack of lamb = 4 chops? I guess it when you are eat in Texas near Athens. When is rare - grey all the way through the meat? I guess when you eat lamb at Tara Vineyard and Winery. Extremely disappointing, When are grilled vegetables the same as sauteed? I guess when you eat at Tara Vineyard and Winery. When are fresh mashed red potatoes fresh out of a box? I guess when you eat at Tara Vineyard and Winery.

Swung by a few months ago with my fiance, sister, and cousin. We did wine tasting and had dinner there. The food was great, wine was slightly above average, and the scenery/ambiance was both quaint and welcoming. Our hostess, Jennifer, was brash and a very funny lady.. We enjoyed her character. Thanks for the wonderful time.

We stayed at the Inn this past weekend for our honeymoon and had dinner at the restaurant our first night there. They treated us so special, and we enjoyed the staff, the wine, our meal and the Tara Inn so much! The chef even went out of her way to accommodate my dairy allergy. Thank you, thank you! We will be back!

I had the worst service.. took about 10-20 minutes to even get a menu and an additional 5 minutes for someone to even assist us (they walked passed us several times knowing we havent been assisted). Our hour and half food was okay, wine was meh. The only thing that made up for the service was our waiter, Adrian.

This is a special place for my wife and I. We first found Taras Vineyard when we stayed in Athens for a weekend getaway. Wish we stayed overnight but we plan on coming back for our anniversary. We have also enjoyed every meal we have had at the Cellar Door, Chef B is amazing!!
