There are so many great places in Nashville! Skip this place. Showed up at 2:52 on a saturday afternoon. We came down from Gallatin to go shopping along 8th Street. The place was pretty busy so I asked if they had a table for 2 (mental noting seats at the bar) and the hostess said "Well, we close in 5 minutes." After an awkward pause she said "I can go back and see if you can place a to-go order. Otherwise we open back up at 5pm." What the hell kind of customer service is this? You just said you were still open. We even checked on here, google, and it doesnt say anything about closing. I was a chef for 10 years. People come in before close everyday. No big deal. You make their food right and you keep cleaning. If you want to be done at 2:50, close at 2:50, not 3. But then you open at 5 again anyway? You arent even closing down for the day! We came here once before and had to hunt down our waitress who had disappeared, even after we told her at the beginning that we were in a hurry. Looking at the other reviews it seems that this is a company culture issue. Not worth it in any sense of the word.

What a disappointment. I had lunch with my daughter and her husband today at Nashvilles storied Suttler. It was perfectly awful and may be the most over priced eatery in town. The revival of 12th South and all places Melrose has been a joy to see. Good places like M. L. Rose, The Smiling Elephant, Melrose BarBQue, are all worth your time and cash. I had the $14 dollar lunch special sandwich which sounded amazing and turned it to all bread, a nice piece of lettuce about 2 tablespoons of meat with a sauce that was so sharp it boarded on suggesting it was near spoiling. The Sweet Potato Salad was literally a metal cup with a serving the size of a ping pong ball. Unseasoned and i spotted one cube of a sweet potato under the cut chives. The atmosphere was very nice, the sound was so you could enjoy the back ground music and the table conversation which many places lack. I will not only NOT back, I will not recommend or suggest The Suttler as it is today.

My girlfriend and I loved this place. We were told about The Sutler by a local and came the day before New Years Eve. We were very impressed for a lot of reasons. First off they offer a generous military discount and we were treated like first class by our waitress Kelly. We enjoyed our drinks on our first visit and were again impressed with drinks on our second visit. The musicians were professionals and added to the atmosphere. Last I must say what really made our night was this; they were out of the chocolate jar dessert on our first visit and second visit, but went to the extra effort to go out of the way and make one of the lacking ingredients for us. Its full of people of varying ages and lifestyles that keep coming back because of their continued impeccable customer service. For our brief time in Nashville for Bash on Broadway downtown for New Years The Sutler will be our most memorable experience in Nashville.

Atmosphere was markedly "Nashville" and was the highlight of the evening, but overall, we will not be returning. Our burgers were VERY rare, which is medium in Sutler language. Everything is a la carte. Server was unenthused and gave off a cold vibe. Some parts of the vegetable plate were VERY spicy, while others were not spiced at all. I think overall we just had a confusing experience. The burgers are served on their ends dunked in cheese (good cheese) and have a few pickles on them. Vegetable tray was a bunch of big leaves (how do you eat that?) and was covered in burnt sprigs of spices. Again, how do you eat that?? Our favorite part of the meal was the brussels sprouts and mash. Although the atmosphere was pretty cool, we wont be going back. Food was not worth the price. Presentation of it was not enjoyable.

*We had to bus our own table *The manager KJ was wiping down tables, on his computer, answering the phone and then was at the prep station placing food on the plates WITH NO GLOVES * The server wasnt focused and messed up all the checks so we had to write down all the orders on separate pieces of paper to help. NOW HERE COMES THE DOOZY! 3 OF US GOT SICK FROM FOOD POISONING. My sister couldnt eat for the rest of the night, no biggie right.. WRONG the next morning she woke up THROWING UP! On the flight home THROWING UP on the PLANE. She had to take a day off of work. My sister is diabetic so when she gets sick it is a different beast and I have to monitor her so DKA wont occur. I am just so glad my 5 year old niece wasnt effected.

Our dinner experience here was pretty bad. Im sure it had to do with our waiter. We ordered our entres, waited about 30 minutes for him to come back and ask what we ordered. Waited another 30 minutes before the wrong food came. Got our food after that. I got a burger with fries so I asked the man for katchup and never got that. He then ignored us because I believe he was very imberrassed for the bad service. We had to flag down a separate waitress to get our bill, which she took off both entres after explaining the situation. Just a weak experience. We will be sticking to east Nashville for dinner options from now on.

Overall experience absolutely awesome, due to server Bryan & manager Tim! Menu is what it is. Very good bar food with a twist, not for fine dining expectations. Drinks great & fairly priced. Our personal experience was that they went WAY beyond our expectations with a service request, unknown to us as we are not in the restaurant Biz, yet the manager knocked it outta the park!! Ive been around long enough to have been at the original & enough has been preserved, whereas opening business to the newer clientele! If there were 6 stars... they would have received it tonight! Many thanks!

Great food, killer vibe. If you want live music, hit the restaurant/bar area up top with a surprisingly nice stage and comfortable seating area. If you want to lay low, head downstairs to the downright sexy full-service cocktail bar and lounge on the plush love seats or grab a table. The food can be a bit pricey for the value, so I rarely eat here without making an evening of it (taking in a show as well). But the half-price happy hour craft cocktails make it a frequented go-to in the Melrose area for those right-after-work meetings that need a little something special.

Went for happy hour on Wednesday. Be aware...the 2-1 wine glasses are only for the basement. But our waitress didnt tell us that until the bill was paid even after wed ordered the drinks, then conveniently asked if Id like to ask the manager to honor the discount. This is on top of her bugging us every 2 minutes when we clearly dont need assistance. The downstairs is cool, cheese dip was exceptionally below par, menu was overpriced. Normally not this fickle, but the service/"customer first" part failed miserably and detracted from the experience.
