They close the theatre to convert to digital for showing movies. It closed in October of 2013. They fire the GM who had plans of showing movies during the conversion and keeping the Christmas movie tradition alive. Now it is February and the Board of Trusties still havent upgraded. Very poor management and planning on their part. I am afraid for the theatre will not last in the hands of the Board.

Love the whole experience! I remember going to the movies all Saturday afternoon and sitting in the balcony. My kids never had the balcony and big screen experience until we discovered the Newtown Theatre. We have seen comedy shows and touching movies together. Many families "bearly" talk but we laugh and love this together as adults. Membership is great price too!! .

The board arbitrarily and inexplicably cancelled this years plans to show Christmas movies... a beloved holiday tradition in our community. Apparently, theyre really sticking it to the old manager with less than zero regard for the many families crying this year over the boards terminal myopia.

Had a wonderful client appreciation event here and Im very pleased with everything. Everyone was welcoming and friendly. The popcorn was delicious. My clients loved it and were impressed. It is nice simply seeing a movie here. This is really a great spot for any event or party. A+

Special place. Its a tiny movie house with 1 screen. I went there for a birthday party which was different. If you go to the web site (or Facebook page) they have special viewings of classic movies. A week after I was there they were going to show the wizard of Oz.

Quaint theater perfect for seeing a movie (this is after all the oldest operating movie theater in the country), or for seeing a live show performed various time during the year by talented community theater members.

Not like your average AMC Theaters and thats whats nice about it. Gives it an older theater feeling and its pretty fun to get to enjoy a movie in a theater that isnt going to look like the ones I see all the time

One of the oldest continuously operating movie theaters in the US, it shows its age but in a charming way. Seats are small and have limited leg room.

Ok, maybe the accommodations are a little out dated, but thats all part of the charm. Any film is better in the Newtown Theatre.
