First time playing here at Reston National Golf. Ive been wanted to play here for a while and I finally did. I gave two stars for friendly staffs and great conditions for the course. Our tee time was 5:48am because friends and I are usually play first tee time before go to work by 9am. Of course we were 3rd group this time. Still managed to play under 3 hours after skipping #3 and #4 holes but it was messed. First of all, this course plays VERY SLOW. I cant imagine playing here during weekends. Most people played today have no course etiquette. Im sure they know how to hit the ball but NO ETIQUETTE! Second shot from #1 hole (middle of fairway and I had bright neon green golf shirts), we were waiting for 2nd group front of us to clear the green and then there was a golf ball bounced about 15 feet left side of me. This idiot tee off regardless we are waiting or not. I was not pleased. From FIRST HOLE!!!! I raised my arm and gave him my sign language. Due to first group were playing very slow, we skipped #3 and #4 and tee off from #5. We played well and kept our pace rest of front 9. After #9, I was shocked how many cars were at the parking lot early in the morning. Drove cart by practice range and saw few people practice here and there and went over to #10 hole. #10 and #11 was fine until we got to #12. Holy hell.....at least 5 groups teed off from back 9. Few groups were walking, single, double and single group. I was thinking what was the point to have EARLY tee time and we had to wait every back nine holes???? And then this single lady wanted to go front of us. We were thinking maybe she needs to go to work or home? We were wrong, she teed off front of us and every shots she hits about 50 yards. O-M-G~~!!!!!! We told her she cant play front of us because we waited almost every back nine and she wants to play front of us? H to the No! I guess she was upset or she had to go, so she left after swing few clubs. Reston National Golf Club, I understand you have to make money somehow but as I typing this I keep asking Qs ... WHATS THE POINT OF HAVING EARLY TEE TIME IF WE HAVE TO WAIT FOR PEOPLE FRONT OF US???????? Why are we waiting on people front of us when we were first group to tee off?????????If you let one or two group in back nine then thats ok. But seems like anybody can tee off either front or back. And this course has NO MARSHAL! Freaking annoyed how poorly this course was running. I will play this course again if we can get early tee time on weekdays and let nobody tee off from back nine. I guess that wont happen so I might not come back here.

To begin I would like to say that Reston National is a beautiful golf course. It is kept in excellent shape and is a great environment to golf in. However, management practices of this course render it virtually unplayable. 1. Cost. $89 per person per weekend for non "VGCBKJDHSDKJFHSKLDF" card holders. Name this card whatever you want... youre getting ripped off if youre from out of town ( or in-town like myself) 2. Overbooking. You book a tee-time for 11? May as well show up at 12. This is obvious and egregious. 3.Overbearing marshals...this was really the deal breaker. After the course played terribly slowly for the first 6-7 holes a gap opened up between groups due to multiple backed up par 3s. Later in the round (hole 11) a marshal approached us frequently and insisted this backup was because of our slow play. He consistently harassed and monitored our group over the course of multiple holes on the back 9. This made us uncomfortable and hurt our scores due to accelerated play. By the time we reached hole 15 the course was backed up again and our efforts to play at a rapid pace obviously were worthless. So in summary: If you are looking to spend an excessive amount of time on one of the worst professionally managed courses in northern Virginia... Reston National is your place to golf! Also their are gnats... horrible amounts of gnats. Be prepared to not even be able to see, breath, or speak when on a green.... on the positive they do have beer and the beer girls are nice, so I would encourage you to drink a lot.

Ive been playing this course off and on for about four years. Pace of play is usually incredibly slow with 18 holes ranging between five and six hours. Ive never seen a marshal on the course. Focus of the course is making money not the players. Ive had experiences where the starter has been incredibly rude and greens people on the course equally unfriendly. Price is relatively expensive. Staff is very low paid which is reflected in management of the course. In the summer, the practice green is almost unusable due to kids having summer camp on it. Practice tee areas are equally crowded. Comments to pro shop about speed of play just gets a shrug of the shoulders. This is a sausage making course and the end product is not very tasteful either. Nike training program is also marginal with very inconsistent training between instructors. If you want your son or daughter to be taught a different technique for the same thing every outing, this is your place. Ive wanted to enjoy playing here, because of convenience to my home but almost every outing is agony. Most local players who play locally seem to prefer playing at Herndon centennial. There must be a reason for that. Ive had the privilege of golfing worldwide for about 30 years. And Ive never experienced the consistently agonizing experience at Reston national.

I dont know why I still go to Reston National once in a blue moon (maybe because it is close), but it seems that I, and lot of people, cant go without encountering "problems". Today was no exception. My girlfriend and I decided we would never go again in the afternoon because, as most people know, you run into a very poorly managed pace of play, etc. So, today, we thought we would tee it up at 8:00 am on a weekday. Problems: > I was promised a senior discount (Im 60) for myself and my girlfriend on the phone, but at the course we were told it only applied to me. Add $30. > We were not told (as we should have been) at booking time on the phone that the driving range would be closed on the day of our play--otherwise we would have chosen a different day. So, no opportunity to warm up at all. My brief attempts to warm up by hitting a few half wedges on the edge of the ample chipping area were monitored sternly by the starter, arms folded. This is the staff attitude at Reston National that people refer to. > The course condition was OK, but the sand traps were nothing but eroded hard-pan. Buyer beware.

Gets ZERO stars for scheduling and crappy service. The one star is for the slightly above average greens. Ill echo prior reviewers sentiments- tee times are less than 10mins and they dont seem to group doubles, huh? We had to wait on a double in front of us and the "ranger" (clueless cart boy) made the rounds to remind us of pace-of-play on first tee...PACE OF PLAY seriously????? Nice when we are waiting on the folks in front of us. Maybe they will get someone who actually knows how to run a golf course one day...which is wishful thinking reading these reviews. Bristow Manor and Fairfax National are comparable for similar price, better greens and much better service.
